Not great, they did have a maroon baby doll for the ladies that was pretty dope.

Reno had a "event shirt" for $50 with the artwork from the poster.

Trust me you are preaching to the choir about Tool army.

Yeah...I was disappointed with the Puscifer merch also for their tour.
I'll probably get an event specific poster for both shows (if there are).
I proimised myself I wouldn't look at the setlists, but couldn't help myself.
Ticks and Leeches! I can't wait. let's hope my two shows aren't the 2 they decide to replace that with Vicarious.

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

Hey... have either of these shows actually had seats on the floor or is it infact GA/SRO?
Tucson arena sold seats off the seating chart with chairs on the floor so i bought 2nd row seats (at face value- don't worry)... but i WANT seats, ill end up trying to trade if it isn't a seated floor.

Don't know about Vegas, but Reno had actual seats on the floor.

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

this will be my 7th time seeing TOOL, so far this tour the setlist has been exact same first 3 shows, I am really pumped to hear Ticks & Leeches, but last couple times I saw them they played Stinkfist, The Pot, Forty Six & 2, Jambi, Schism, Lateralus, Aenema...... not much of a change.

awesome to add in Ticks, and Hooker, however I would like to see more older off Undertow and damn I would shit my pants if I heard anything from Opiate.... but I know, not gonna happen... Just wish they would change it up over the tour and not the exact same every show, maybe change a couple songs every night, I mean, do they not get tired of playing exact same night after night in same order???

Anyways, I'll be pumped and excited to see them anytime, not complaining about what they play, just wishing, LOL.....

I got to see them play FLOOD last tour, and now Ticks & Leeches.... so I'm pretty stoked!

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

He's just altered it a bit from what I've heard. I think he did something similar in 2007. I watched a boot (I'm weak, I know) from Vegas or Reno and he still does the "It will end no other way" bit, so I wouldn't worry.

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

I think he's left part of it out, at least in Reno, but he still belts out the very, very end. I think he left out "staring down the hole again... terrified of what may come" but picks it back up with "remember I'll always love you.." and finishes from there. Not sure if it's a stylistic/lyric choice or just trying to save his voice, or what.

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

it seems like the setlist is dictated less by what Maynard is physically able to sing and more what songs he's able to emotionally give a shit about. Aside from Jambi and Pushit, all the songs on the setlist are a presentation of his worldview, not a reflection on his experiences. Stinkfist, The Pot, Aenema, 46&2, Intension, T&L, Lateralus, and even Schism to an extent are all pretty devoid of personal experience and seem more to be some social spiritual remark.

I guess we'll really never see H. or Jimmy again or most of the stuff from Undertow. Think about it, even the tracks they used to play from Undertow were Intolerance, Flood and occasionally Sober. Not exactly super emotional and all of which are still applicable to the way Maynard sees the world.

I would argue that Schism and Stinkfist have at least some personal overtones.

I said schism 'to an extent'. Stinkfist might have at the time of its writing but its a pretty easy song to recontextualize. I've always seen it as a comment about insatiability and it never seemed to be about a relationship to me. You could make the case though.

Yep.

Fairly hi-res, with the 'Artwork by...' removed, in case anyone wants a wallpaper.

I think this is a really good observation. "Swamp Song" is another one off of Undertow that would qualify.

But then there's "Pushit," arguably as personal as it gets.

Right, Pushit's inclusion is a mystery. Swamp Song has been played as recently as 2007 though, remember? So that fits the model. Maybe he's recontextualized Pushit, or maybe it really is still relevant. A lot of Puscifer's output has to do with a scorned lover. Even as recently as Puscifer's newest album there's Toma which is a big 'fuck you' to some ex.

I always took Stinkfist as being more about addiction rather than a relationship or something. Sexual addiction specifically, but like all their great songs, you could lay that over any situation where you can't get enough of something.

Using the metaphor of "fisting" as someone reaching inside another person.

discussion, fine. but don't think your $80 implies anyone has to cater to your whim.

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

It's 2012, get used to it. One day you'll tell your grandkids that you used to pay less than $20 for any show. Today, big arenas + big bands = $100 for a good seat.

Album wise the set list songs total about an hour. Throw in the extensions and intermission and it is about 90 minutes...

Re: 2012 Tour Setlist Discussion

Reno show was about 100 mins, including the intermission. Although I would always like to see longer shows, I don't think 90 mins is a rip off at all. MOST bands play for 90 mins for their headline set. I have seen hundreds of shows, and only a handful have headliners play longer than 90 mins. There are lots of full Tool shows on youtube from the Aenima Tour that were 90 mins, and what I would give to see a show from that era! They are getting older, and if playing 90 min shows is what it takes to keep them going, then I think it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Yeah, Rush and Springsteen do longer shows but most acts are in the 90-110 minute shows. I know outdoor venues have regulations on how late the concerts can go.
