Lateralus and the Fibonacci Series. Video and links

Well, I don't have the time to spell it ALL out but here, first watch the video:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFY

In case you're really not familiar with the Fibonacci Series then check this out:

http://smokinjoenews.wordpress.com/2...onacci-series/

And is my analysis on how to achieve the Fibonacci Series Track List for the Lateralus CD:

http://smokinjoenews.wordpress.com/2...acci-sequence/

I have yet to listen to the complete list which is:

6, 7, 5, 8, 4, 9, 13, 3, 10, 2, 11, 1, 12

Apparently, the beat-patterns flow through each transition and the whole CD becomes one long TOOL track.

I didn't create that youtube.com video, it was done by a brilliant TOOL fan. It did, however, motivate me to do a little added research and present it to others.

Joe

I knew all of the video's facts, but that was still a delight to watch.

Just lending some words to those not 'in the know.'

But it was quite awesome to see something so beautiful created by a Fan.

I think I missed out on the significance of 9:24

I can't understand time signatures anyway so I don't hear the 9-8-7, but why is this a Fibonacci reference?

The number 987 is in the Fibonacci sequence. I believe it's the 14th or 15th number.

Re: Lateralus and the Fibonacci Series. Video and links

It's the 16th term.

So when [n=16: 987=F(n-1)+F(n-2)]

Or something of that format.

9:24 still boggles me, it's not any specific term within the sequence. I guess,
F(n=924)=5.6898E+192
But that doesn't really give me anything to work with.

Either way, the post was just an excuse to pop the movie link on.

Re: Lateralus and the Fibonacci Series. Video and links

I used to believe in the theory about the hidden track order. But as I listened to the original album in order and understood it better, You pick up on an obvious progression and story the way tool has it setup.
The fibonacci sequence only applies to this one song not the entire album. The entire album is ordered in relationship to the 7 chakras and the tree of life which are a mixture of buddhism and kabala beliefs. Both which are religions that promote peace, mindfulness, respect, self reflection, meditation and so on.

Sprial out, the hole goes much deeper ;)

Re: Lateralus and the Fibonacci Series. Video and links

It should be noted that the Fibonacci numbers are an expression of Phi, the Golden Ratio.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio

The longer the spiral becomes the closer to phi the ratio gets.
3/2, 5/3, 8/5, 13/8, 21/13, 34/21 etc.

Interesting. Do you mean anything concrete in particular?
