God, the Aftershock lineup is so much ridiculously better that I'm rethinking Voodoo Fest.

In and out at Voodoo fest doesn't mean much unless you are gonna cab it back to your hotel. Which would be a colossal waste of time...

Eh, Maynard is in Puscifer and Winery mode until October anyway, so this probably won't have any real impact on the new album.

some thoughts about VIP:
from a festival perspective, many times the "VIP viewing area" is not "premium" at all. It's often further away, to the side, and not ideal. very rarely is the VIP viewing area in FRONT of the mosh pit close to stage. If it were that only would make VIP worth it to me, not all those other stupid "perks" you get.
Regarding TOOL VIP - the presale for toolarmy is not general admission seats, only for VIP. however from past experience VIP very rarely sells out right away. If you want VIP then just wait until public on sale - you should be OK.
Regarding TOOL VIP - the description does not include a sound check. This was part of VIP when I attended in 2014. I don't recall if soundcheck was included last year for those who went? If they got rid of sound check that would suck. That was my favourite part of the VIP experience, even more than the Q/A session with Adam.

for what it's worth, that map doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the layout of the stages. Looking on google maps I can't figure out what portion of the park it's referencing with interstate 5 to it's... south?

Voodoo does have the left side of the front of the stage sectioned off for VIP i believe.

Well Aftershock tix were way easier to get than expected. I see the venue map shows it's a totally different layout than it was in the past at that same venue. So maybe that means that they will hold a bigger capacity than before.

Voodoo fest VIP has half of the section on stage left but filled up fast and was pretty packed. I was about 3 rows deep for Janes and Ozzy and while the bar was closer, the view was no better than folks with regular seats just less crammed in.
The detail on the Aftershock map is a little light, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. There will be a riser that may be off to the side but being higher up makes it better.

Re: General Tool Discussion
Voodoo fest VIP has half of the section on stage left but filled up fast and was pretty packed. I was about 3 rows deep for Janes and Ozzy and while the bar was closer, the view was no better than folks with regular seats just less crammed in.
The detail on the Aftershock map is a little light, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. There will be a riser that may be off to the side but being higher up makes it better.

Ironic, since Tool could very well be headling that show as well.

No irony there at all - the thought definitely crossed my mind; both NIN and Tool are due to release new music and haven't played Coachella in a while. Odds are decent - if I could have both my life will be complete.

Tickets to the Salt Lake City show on 10/24 are $92.50 for reserved floor and lower bowl. After fees, that's about $105.
JEEEEESUS FUCK.

im hoping, now that iv seen it, they switch sweat out with something else off of Opiate. I also love NO quarter, but i would love to see third eye on the setlist.
Hopefully a return of lateralus. Id be ok with them switching that out for 46&2 or schism. Not very realistic, but i feel like those two songs are kind of the boring prts of the set they played on the last tour. I do understand someone who hasnt seen them having a gripe about that but you could say the same thing for lateralus.
Im way way way too hopeful lol.
We all know its probably gonna be the same set from last tour.

If by infrastructure you mean a few food trucks and some portalets then yeah.
I hit every Lolla up until it moved to Chi and after that twice. I'm not bashing Lolla at all just saying that comparing eras is an exercise in futility...
My first non Lolla Tool show was $18. My last show was around $100.
Then again I was making $9 an hour back in the day. :)

The Cure is playing here in Chicago this weekend for $50/ticket. I've heard that it's almost a 3 hour setlist. I want to go so bad... Groceries or The Cure? Hmmm

The Cure have had a reputation of long career spanning setlists for many years now. It'd be a great show for fans no doubt.
Sadly Tool are just not that type of band. Many of us wish they were, but it ain't gonna happen.

The Denver ticket sale is kinda confusing. It seems like AXS and Altitude are selling tickets tomorrow.

Yeah, I don't know what to make of the Altitude info, either. Maybe try both tomorrow? The bots will have it sold out by 10:02 anyways. I'm going to call the Pepsi Center/Altitude tomorrow morning to see what's up. If I get any info, I'll post it up here.
