Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

It's too manly, you need more women in your story.

Otherwise, it's good.

I don't know whether to commend you or be pissed at you, Cronos. I have a similar idea in the works although it is not set in an older time. Dammit! If/When I post it, it will be forever tainted with the fact that you released yours first to the public. Oh well. So it goes...

Great story, by the way.

Thank you. But it will be awhile until I can start finishing it, so you may just have the joys of beating me to the punch.

My computer has worsened as of late, and it freezes all the time now. I'm lucky it hasn't frozen up on me while writing this, because as I wrote more of the story it froze. That kind of drove a knife through my gut and put me out of the writing mood. I lost everything(well about whatever wasn't saved) while it froze, so I'm just going to wait until I get another computer and maybe try to post more on a public computer in a library. I have floppy disks that I could easily transfer what I actually had saved, write up what I was going for and try to salvage what was lost. Then, just post it on here, so I think that's what I'll do, and that's to explain why I haven't posted another portion in a long time.

Whew, no freezes. Though I'm not taking a chance writing more of the story, it's very frustrating when you lose something you've put a lot into writing.

I have had similar problems, and I know how this feels. It does, indeed, take all the wind right out of it. I'm glad you aren't stopping. This is really cool stuff written here.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Ok, I'm going to copy and paste a large portion I have saved up before this piece of crap freezes. Well, I'll cut apart into three portions. That way you lazy cods can read at a pace, post at a time. Oh, and I reformatted, so it can't be porn. I think it's a hardware problem.

Finally, Thrakandor nears Nee'okrist's chamber and proceeds in. Nee'okrist is sitting at his bedside, when he jumps up to notice someone else is in the room. "Who are you, and what are you doing in my chamber's?" Thrakandor returns in his usual calm voice. "You don't remember me? Think back a bit and try to remember, maybe it'll come to you." Nee'okrist has a confused look on his face and begins to stutter. "W-what are you t-talking about? I d-don't remember anything." Thrakandor's expression turns into a sinister smile. "Think harder...back to a time when you recklessly destroyed peoples homes and lives to benefit your own selfish ambitions." Nee'okrist begins shaking. "I've ransacked many establishments, there is no way for me to know who you are! P-please, tell me what is it you want. I can give you wealth!!"

Thrakandor laughs, "Wealth? You don't understand do you, you really have no idea? A long time ago, I was a young disciple to a small temple dedicated to a new way of teaching and self-discipline. The people there became my true family, my true friends. In time the temple grew, and more people were drawn to it. Many great thinkers came into our midst, and vast tomes of knowledge were created and stored within the temples halls. With each day our way of thinking progressed, our philosophies expanded...and with this I could feel myself coming closer and closer to enlightenment. Then you came, you and your savage lust for material possessions and power. You brought all we had worked towards down within an instant. You wasted no time with it, and took my temple of reason away from me.

At first I couldn't fathom it, why anyone could bring himself to hurt those who have never once lifted a hostile finger against him. But, as I watched, and looked inside you, I realized through all my teachings that there are those who will live for the sole purpose of surrounding themselves with pretty symbols of power and wealth. They are vain and empty men, consumed by their lust for more. You and those who followed you sacked and pillaged the temple, set fires, and slaughtered the innocent followers whose lives meant nothing to you. Everything that the temple worked for had been erased in an instant. Though I was the sole survivor, inside of me, you had destroyed my temple of reason. As your men killed, and looted, I began to have doubts in the world, I began to slip away to hate and anger. I fled from the temple, only to return to a pile of rubble. Whole tomes of knowledge had been erased from this world forever. The rest of the world could never know our way of life, could never hear our infinite wisdom. It was all too easy for you to destroy the foundation for my temple of reason, as if it had no bearing or significance on anything. I not only lost the temple and the foundation, but that very something that once was there inside of me. But now, I shall erase you from this world forever, because I… am the product of your malice. You did this to yourself!”

As Thrakandor lunges forward at Nee’okrist a swarm of guards burst from the doors behind Nee’okrist’s chambers. The guards prepare their swords and stand vigilant in front of their warlord. Thrakandor quickly leaps back to give himself some distance from the guard, and readies his katana for what he thinks may be his last assassination. Nee’okrist stands firmly placed behind the six of his guards that came to his aid in time and cackles. “Welcome to the fun boys, you’ve made it just in time. I’m glad everyone could make it here today, because now I can finally finish what I failed to do so back then. I destroyed his temple of reason, but I didn’t destroy him! It was reckless of me, but we can remedy this right now!” Another figure comes out from the same hallway that Thrakandor came from earlier. “Well, not everyone made it, but now I think everything is ok. I think now we can begin, so if it’s not too much trouble let us all forget about my horrible punctuality and put things to right.”

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak stands confident at the side of Thrakandor and Thrakandor glances over at him. “I’ve been wondering when you would decide to show up, you had been tracking me for some time now. We are greatly outnumbered however, how are we to take down seven men when each of us can hope to take on two at a time at best?” Nee’okrist grins, “You can’t! This will all inevitably end with the both of your corpses laid dead before me!” Thaak glances back at Thrakandor. “Well, maybe not, but we can cut them down to a much more reasonable number.” Thaak quickly grabs two daggers sheathed at his legs and projects them at two of the guards. Each dagger is firmly lodged into their neck, in the vulnerable spot between their helmet and cuirass. Thrakandor gently smiles. “Well prepared….” With four men left, Nee’okrist cries out in fury, “Kill them damn you!”

Thaak reaches for the broadswords at his side and unsheathes them, the sound that emanates when he unsheathes them sounds as if the swords are their own entity crying out whenever their wielder unleashes them. One of the guards thrusts his sword at Thrakandor and he gracefully swirls to his side and out of the way while yet another guard slashes across to cut open Thrakandor. As Thrakandor is stepping to the side to evade the thrust of one guard he kneels forward in with his right leg as he cuts with a smooth sweep of his katana across the vulnerable opening at the sides of the cuirass. As that guard cries out in pain and collapses to that side of the wound, the other guard that pursued Thrakandor has slashed right over his head. Thrakandor brings his other leg forward lunging in to cut up across the guard’s neck and spins around to grab the guard who has collapsed to his side. Before the guard even has the slightest chance to regain composure, Thrakandor grabs the back of his head and cuts cleanly across his neck. Both of these guards collapse to the floor, and are dealt with accordingly without delay or hesitation in Thrakandor’s swift movements.

At the same time Thaak made short work with two of the other guards. Instead of two coming at Thaak, another actually tried to overcome Thrakandor while only one came at Thaak. Thaak steps in front of the guard attempting to overcome Thrakandor, parries with the guard’s sword with the blade in his left hand, and cuts into the guard’s armor with the sword in his other hand. Wasting no time with the guard attempting to cut him down, he turns to him and blocks a swipe with the blade in his right hand and thrusts into the guard’s gut with the other. As Thaak kills the last of the guards remaining, Nee’okrist falls to his knees and begins to plead for mercy. Thrakandor slowly walks to Nee’okrist and stands above him smiling. Nee’okrist clasps his hands together and holds them in front of his forehead shaking them. “Please! I can leave all this behind me, you don’t have to kill me! I can live an honest life, I swear it!” Thrakandor’s expression turns to a look of disgust. “I’m no god, why are you praying? On your feet!” Thrakandor drives his foot up into Nee’okrist’s face, and sends him off his knees and onto his back with a thud. Thrakandor points his katana under Nee’okrist’s chin. “I…I can finally end this long nightmare…and rest easy again.” Nee’okrist screams out, “Nnooo-.” But, his scream is cut short with a quick sweep of Thrakandor’s blade across Nee’okrist’s throat.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak sheathes both of his blades, and it’s as if one could hear an entity within the blades let out a long sigh. “So, you finally have your long awaited revenge? Does it feel any different now, did getting revenge really satisfy something inside of you?” Thrakandor looks down at Nee’okrist’s dead body. “I suppose not, his living is what actually drove me to live. I have nothing now and no idea where to go. I’m just a wanderer without a purpose now. But, it would be foolish of me to kill him out of revenge. That is why I waited for an actual purpose, so that I wouldn’t be killing him merely out of revenge. I became an assassin, and honed my skills as a professional killer. Then, I waited patiently for a time when I wouldn’t be killing Nee’okrist merely out of my own selfish trip for revenge. Nee’okrist is dead now, and with that I have served a true purpose. Now I have opened doors for another, given them an opportunity to advance their ambitions. I have no love for one who makes a grab for power through actions like Nee’okrist’s. When one with ambitions such as his opposes someone with obviously much greater ambition, I am happy to serve to that end.

Cronos is a more ambitious leader, and isn’t as savage with his claims to power as Nee’okrist was. I had to serve Cronos’ purpose and ambition, because had I not another easily could have. I had to be the one to kill Nee’okrist, and it had to be for more than just out of petty revenge. Now Nee’okrist is dead, and Cronos can advance his own, as far as I know, noble ambitions. I’d like to think by performing this service, that with my actions we are much closer to a land unified under one ruler. I guess, that if I could see anyone ruling these lands, it could be a man with an ambition like Cronos. In him, I can truly see that he has realized what he wants and how to obtain it, unlike savages such as Nee’okrist who only see something they want and destroy entire villages to grasp it. So rest assured, though I despised Nee’okrist’s ambitions, I do not oppose Cronos and have found no reason to do so. I will not defy your ambitious Lord, Thaak.” Thaak nods. “If what drives you is over with and you no longer have a purpose, then what now?” Thrakandor slowly turns his head to looks back at Thaak. “I must construct my temple of reason again from the ashes of Nee’okrist’s corpse. With the same standards I set about to claim Nee’okrist’s life I will rebuild my temple. I will not act on selfish gain, and will defy those with dishonorable ambitions. But first, I must rest my eyes while.” The two part ways, and Thrakandor wanders off into the unknown, greeted by whatever may come and will come. Thaak, hurries back to Cronos to report that the task has been completed.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

“So, Nee’okrist is dead then?” Thaak nods and answers Cronos. “Yes, and the ones who have breached your northern borders are now in disarray. All of Nee’okrist’s men have scattered after his demise, likely bickering over which one will be the new warlord. There is nothing left to fear from them anymore, they will never become a true clan, nor a true threat. Their leader was but a mere warlord who had a small group of men at his disposal. Without their leader, they cannot grow in power to become a true clan and expand their influence in Tulopia. He was just a warlord with a pathetic renegade division at his command. Your plans now turn to Reign, Lord Cronos.” Cronos closes his eyes. “Yes…leave me now, and have Lautreamont brought to me. I must consult with him regarding such delicate matters as war.”

Cronos waits patiently in his chambers and Lautreamont comes walking forward. “Cronos, you would have me summoned before you?” Cronos gets up from his comfortable seat and speaks. “Yes, Lautreamont, killing Nee’okrist discretely worked out well, and control of my northern territories has returned to me. I have placed some new divisions to keep watch over that area, though, I’ve had to spread all my divisions thin in order to keep my borders safely watched over.” Lautreamont bows his head down solemnly. “What would you have me do, Lord Cronos?” Cronos walks over to a painting of his likeness with his back turned to Lautreamont. “I need you to recruit me more men for our future battles. Scout the commons and find me able-bodied men to fight for me. Offer them riches, and glory and honor, and tell them that when I have sole power of Tulopia they will greatly be accommodated for their efforts in this. Everyday we grow closer, soon it will all be realized….” Lautreamont turns to the door. “I will have Thaak complete this task, his name is greater than mine. His prowess on the battlefield is widely known, it would be best that he inspire men to our side. He knows what it’s like to have experienced battle, and he knows how to inspire battle lust for those that would be fighting alongside him.” Cronos turns to face Lautreamont again and nods. “Agreed, Thaak will go out accompanied by our best fighters, equipped with our finest armors. When they walk into the commons, they will look like warriors of the most prestigious honors. He will ask that others join him in his crusades, and greet him on the battlefield. You will inform Thaak of the news at once, see to it that the plans are set in motion. Soon, we meet Reign’s men with sword and shield, we must be ready when that time comes.”

For several weeks Thaak scoured the commons asking that men of great bravery accompany him on the battlefield and unite Tulopia under one great Lord. While he was doing so in another established village of the commons, an odd man dressed in rags was gathering quite a lot of interest from the commoners. He stood on an elevated platform and was speaking with great ferocity, and gesturing his hands with great meaning. Thaak slowly made his way through the crowd, and began to address one of the men listening to the speaker. “Excuse me, but who is that speaking up there?” The intrigued man couldn’t be bothered with his attention and turns over to Thaak. “Shh!” Thaak’s expression turns to displeasure. He grabs the man by his collar and lifts him up. “Tell me….” The man panics and begins shaking. “Uh-uh! His name is Euthan! Please, release me!” Thaak scowls at the man and shows his displeasure at having dealt with him! “Hmph!” He tosses the man to the side and he lands on his back and skids against the rough dirt. Then the odd man dressed in rags points directly toward Thaak and screams out. “You!” The whole crowds attention is now diverted towards Thaak, Thaak growls and slowly grips the hilt of his broadswords. He unsheathes them, and the two great swords let out a slow hiss.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Euthan keeps his finger aimed on Thaak. “I only bring clarity of vision. Vision of the future…you will listen, won’t you?” Thaak laughs, “Ah, you can clarify what hasn’t even transpired yet? Tell me then, what is it that causes you to finger me out of a crowd? Is it your intention for me to hack my way out of a riled up angry mob?” The crowd around him jumps back and Euthan lowers his hand. “There will be no human lives squandered meaninglessly here today. I only intend to share with you the vision, the vision that I am constantly plagued by, and a vision that concerns you great warrior. You are the warrior who has escaped countless battlefields, guided by blades that sing the dirge for any that cross steel with them, are you not? It is you I am seeking, is it not?” Thaak’s blades flick a sparkle in the sunlight’s gleam. Euthan shrieks, “They laugh, they laugh! Do they intend to mock; are they filled with the taint of immense pride? You wield them, I see that, it is you.” Thaak snarls, “Listen! I don’t have time for this! I don’t have any time for rambling prophets! If there is something you must say, say it now. These blades I wield serve only my will, there is no will of their own to be had when they are of steel and not of flesh! Get on with it!” Euthan cowers back. “Your will is to destroy, don’t flash those at me! They are merely an instrument of your will; your twisted will, you are twisted I say; you’re sick!” Thaak roars aloud, “Rrraaaaaa! I am a soldier; my purpose is to fight! I must destroy in order to keep living! If you have anything worth my time, say it now! I will not stand accused of madness!”

Euthan drops his head back. “Ahh, so you value your existence in this world? You must see something of great worth in it to have such a strong will that exceeds that of those whose blade crosses yours. In my visions, I can see that you fight for something that keeps you bound to this plane. Something that keeps you at ease, that empowers you, inspires you, and motivates you? If that something is disturbed, might you fall in battle? Hmm? Yes, yes get on with it I shall. A lion and a wolf will fight each other, both with the intention of unity under their claw. These are beasts that cannot force themselves to get along any longer; their drives are too similar. Neither is content with servitude, and the beasts can only fight until there is only one remaining to unify the grand pack of beasts. The lion sends a serpent to poison the wolf, its venom strikes deep overcoming the wolf and killing him. The lion is to be king of beasts, his will to be enforced; there is to be order. When the-”

Thaak has a perplexed look on his face and sighs interrupting Euthan mid-stride. “Why do I even bother with these rambling prophets? I fail to see how this concerns me at all.” Euthan smiles, “You are a beast, of course this concerns you.” Thaak begins to slowly cackle, and ends with a maddening howl. “Aha ha ha ha…Ahh hah hah hah hah! AHHH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAAA! A beast…heh.” A wicked grin escapes from Thaak’s face, and he begins to shove his way through an awestruck crowd. Thaak continues to recruit for Cronos’ cause only to eventually return to him to await the call for battle.

Meanwhile, parallel to the events that occurred on Cronos’ side of the field, Reign waits for his chosen to return from the scene of the conflict between Oam and Thaak. The very scene that Reign had never instructed them to engage themselves in.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Haven't posted in awhile. But, don't worry, my new computer is almost here, minus a few parts! Anyways, as usual, I'm cutting it into portions. Instead of 6 long intimidating paragraphs, it's only 3 each post.

Deviant stands over Oam’s unmoving body. Looking over to Noman he asks, “Is he dead?” Noman looks down at Oam and nudges him. “Oam, I know you, you can’t have died of this. A mere arrow and a tumble can’t have slain a man who has seen the battles you have. Get up.” Oam’s body remains, still and silent and Noman repeats himself louder again. “Get up Oam…GEEET UUUP!” Deviant looks down and frowns, “We really should be getting back, it’s bad enough we haven’t done as we were instructed.” Noman cries out, “On your feet Oam! You’re not done; Reign still has use for you, he still has use for us.” Oam’s eyes shoot open. “Uhn…no…not dead…just disappointed. It shouldn’t have happened like that. Not like this…I must have fainted, as I had shut my eyes for the brief moment from my disappointment of it all. I’m still here, just a little shaken up and a little bruised. Can somebody please get this rotting piece of wood from out of my shoulder?” Deviant looks up, and gazes fixedly at nothing at all. “It’s good that you are still alive, then you can help corroborate what exactly went on here. To take proper blame for your oversight here today.” Oam grumbles under his breath and there is a long pause of uneasiness. Noman snaps the wooden shaft lodged in Oam’s shoulder, and does the rest of removing the rest of the shaft. Noman says in a low voice, “Let’s be going, I’ll not allow anymore delays to weigh heavier consequences on what is to become of us.”

Reign has his sights set out a window, overlooking a waterfall emptying into a small alcove. “You’ve returned to me, but you’ve brought me no men to bolster my power, this is disappointing.” Deviant jolts in shock, and thinks, “But how could he have…?” Reign turns around with his hands folded behind his back. “Deviant…? How are you to answer to this?” Deviant turns and looks at Oam menacingly, hoping and waiting for him to tell the account of what happened. Reign raises an eyebrow and looks over to Oam. “Oam…?” Oam raises his head up and begins to talk, “Yes…?” You can see the patience growing thin in Reign. Reign takes in a deep breath and starts talking slower, “Do you… plan… to fill me… in…? Or…just…-” Oam nods fiercely, and with that movement Reign catches notice of the wound on Oam’s shoulder. “You’re wounded, something went wrong?” Oam glances over at his wound and speaks up finally, “Reign, sir, it’s nothing. It was caused due to an error on my part. I apologize, please allow me to explain.” Reign nods his head in agreement; “I will allow it…go on Oam.”

Oam swallows air, and lets out a deep breath. “Rather than the usual, I saw an opportunity make itself apparent. Rather than recruit the usual soldiers, rather than have Deviant try to sway the usual warlords, I saw the most unusual of warlords. I saw Thaak…-“ Reign’s expression turns to that of horror. “You fool! You didn’t-“ Oam looks down, “I did. I saw the opportunity make itself available, I saw the son of Cronos. So, I had devised a plan. As Thaak was my old ally in battle, I thought it could have been done. I thought we could have taken the edge. Things didn’t exactly go according to plan, and Thaak did not take to the proposition. Not even with a volley of arrows that could be aimed at Thaak. He had taken me hostage, but one archer managed to accidentally misfire. That arrow pierced me here, in my shoulder.” Reign’s expression clearly gives off that of displeasure and says, “Fools, his life should have been forfeit then. You had the opportunity to take out a high-ranking fighter of Cronos’ elite ranks and hesitated for an expendable soldier? Now you’ve ruined us all! What did you think would happen by allowing him to use you in order to get away!? This is too much too bare. So, what you’re alive now. But, now you’ve condemned us all! You let Thaak escape ensuring the safety of Graf, when he hears of this he will be ready to start an all out war. Cronos surely knows the operation now, as it has most likely been relayed to him. Soon, there will be war, and we just haven’t gotten all the power and potential we could have. You’ve both made mistakes, it is not the fault of one man. But, there can’t be any way of changing that now, we must prepare for the inevitable.”

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Reign sets the war plans in motion, bringing all the men at his disposal together. The men are organized for best effective use in battle. They are armed and re-armed. Armors and various weapon types are distributed. Reign knows all too well the variety employed in Cronos’ divisions, the effective use of different soldiers with different weapon types. He knows how Cronos organizes formations, using the lighter armored troops to scout ahead for mobility. Reign knows exactly how there will be men armed with halberds, and pole arms, and spears to guard the line of archers that would fire their volleys of arrows. He even knows that there will be men armed with axes coming from behind the flanks of the heavier armored men equipped with broadswords. They will flood through these ranks once they break up any melee fighters and the men with the axes will split into any archers. Reign would be well prepared for what is to come. While Cronos, he would have begun preparing even while he has his men recruit. After Nee’okrist’s threat was out of the way, Cronos begins to re-organize the battered divisions. He re-strengthens them with new recruits constantly as they come in. Eventually, Thaak returns to him, and Cronos too would be ready.

Cronos, making his presence felt in the very south and southwestern most regions of Tulopia. Taking advantage of the terrain, very hilly, with many strategically placed bases and fortifications. More northerly, and past Cronos’ own northern territories lie various clans and rogue warlords that are not as influential as the larger clans such as Cronos’ and now Reign’s; the bigger contenders of Tulopia. Above these interspersed clans and rogue warlords were various stretches of The Commons. Reign, made his presence felt in the very east and northeastern most regions of Tulopia, a very beautiful region with its share of rivers and lakes. There is a great deal of open terrain loaded with wildflowers, and isolated forests where one could practically lose oneself. Reign however, is not able to take advantage of the terrain; he deals with what he has taken. Reign has only just established himself as a true clan, as he was once a sort of rogue clan when he abandoned the guidance of Cronos. Building fortifications and bases takes a great deal of time, and everything Reign has he has taken by force. Reign just mustered up forces slowly, and took part in guerrilla type attacks on the smaller clan outposts of the area, until eventually he had enough power to force the rest of the clans further out. Reign occupies the outposts and fortifications of the clans he had spread over. South of Reign’s eastern territories lies more clans and rogue warlords vying for power, or clans that were forced out of the area by Reign’s rise to power. Allegedly, it is here that Darius’ base of operations is hidden away, and the anarchists plot and scheme. The usual clans surround either territories claimed by Cronos and Reign. The common people somewhat stick to their place to the very north, and spread as far as the continent goes. Some brave accomplishers set up establishments elsewhere, but rogue warlords such as Nee’okrist ransack and raid these before they even have a chance. Then there are isolated temples that like to be away from things, but even then, these places of holy worship get in the way of feuding clans.

The chaotic remnants left behind from the rogue warlord’s forces; Nee’okrist, were decimated by the anarchist forces led by Darius. Weakened, and without a leader, they had no chance. Eventually, war is waged between the two rival clans, the clans of Cronos and Reign. The war raged on for seven brutal years. The clans and rogue warlords claiming the outlying regions of the territories of the two great powerhouses were overrun by the recent surge in anarchist activity. While these two great powerhouses fight, they remain untouched by this recent surge. A considerable amount of lives were claimed during these times of strife, lives of either side. Land was claimed and lost, and the fighting spilled over into the remnants of where other clans once were. Graf is now a man, a man of 18. He can wield more than just a bow and some arrows, and so Graf is now well prepared for battle. Of course, his father Cronos would not have him go far at all from the side of Thaak. Let alone into battle at all, unless Cronos were sure it was necessary, and Cronos placed that same restriction on himself as he lay in the safe confines of his well-protected fortress. But, Cronos is certainly no coward, and he knows when it is necessary to fight alongside his men.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Graf approaches Cronos, as he stands to his son with his back turned atop one of the guard towers gazing expressionless to the horizon. "What do you see father?" Cronos gently turns his head to look back at Graf. "A war..." Graf now stands at Cronos' side and stares back at the same horizon that holds Cronos' interest. "I see a man afraid for his life, afraid knowing that he will never return to the ones he cares about. But, all he can do is fight, fight afraid or die, afraid." Cronos still looks out there, his gaze still undisturbed, unmoving. Graf pipes back up again, "I'm not afraid you know..." Cronos begins scanning the horizon, as if he were expecting something to happen right then. "Of course not...don't be ridiculous, you're my son. I've employed men to be afraid for you, all you have to do is empower them." Graf rests his arms on the stone arch of the guard tower. "I can fight you know, Thaak is impressed with my technique, he said he would have me guard his back anyday. You needn't have anyone be afraid for me, I can do more for them if I fight with them; if I could be there to assure them that victory is a reachable goal."

Cronos smiles, not a grin, not a smirk, nothing mocking, it was a genuine smile. "You seem pretty determined to see actual battle. *sighs* Thaak would have anyone guard his back and he would be content. I put down my sword a long time ago, our men don't need me on the field. I have Thaak for that now, he is competent in all the ways a resolute warrior should be. Now I can concern myself with greater things, I don't need to be a leader on the battlefield anymore. I must remain, so that I may overlook everything while the fight goes on without me." Graf looks into his father's eyes and says, "You're not here with me now... your presence is with the men on the battlefield where the fight goes on behind that horizon. You long for the engagement of battle, I can see that longing in your gaze. You could be fighting these battles with your clan, while you have me take care of everything here in your name. That's what you've been bringing me up for to eventually succeed you without faltering from what you establish as ruler."

Cronos looks away from the horizon, and over at one of his tall standing stone structures. "No, that just won't do. I need to be the one making the decisions in this. This is my affair, not yours. I must sit down and scheme future battle plans with Lautreamont, and see to it that things are stable." Graf grows discontented at his father's discompliance. "You could very well keep your sword sheathed, while I go and fight in your stead. Why should both of us have to wait for the battle to come here?" Cronos lets out a deep breath and says, "I won't have you fight unless I know I will be there to fight with my own blood in battle. Don't worry, the time is drawing nearer, when it will all escalate to the pivotal battle, the final battle. We will both be fighting to decide which clan is the one to dictate law over these untamed mongrels. It will be the time that I use my sword again, to finally resolve this and to gain what I have always sought after. Then, I can finally cast aside my sword, because I will no longer need to rule by conquering." Graf turns around and walks off from atop the guard tower, and Cronos returns his gaze out unto the horizon.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

For awhile, I watch Cronos upon his hill. He is wreathed in shadow, pacing, eyes set and determined. I can sense his power even this far off. Or am I feeding from the violence, the combat? I know he feels it, feels the pull of the din and the rage and the bloodthirst; am I inheriting this second sight as I enter my adulthood?

I pull my eyes from this man, whom I feel so connected to and yet do not understand. How can he wait, biding his time for the so-called 'right' moment? The pieces are in place for action! His commandment not to join the fray irks me. I know I could change things - I shall rival Thaak on the battlefield some day. The only thing holding me back is Father. Perhaps he is right; 'twould be better to enter melee together, back to back, swords gleaming. But nor will he allow me to stay here and plan, thus freeing him for battle! My hands shake from being so indecisive.

I enter our family garden. It is a wet place, mossy and dark. Vines and orchids spill over ancient statues. It's become overgrown and vacant with the men at war, but a feeling of sacredness, a hum of energy, flows across my skin. Running water spills into a small pond, the surface rippling endlessly. Yet somewhere deep below lies water still and unmoving, unmoved for centuries. I sit down, feeling the earth between my fingers, and take out my sword. It needs a name.

I breathe deeply and feel cold air rush through my nostrils.
I will be calm here. I will focus my mind. I will await Cronos' call.

Hmmm, good. Very descriptive and stands as a magnificent portrayal of the thoughts and indecisions of a troubled youth. It will remain as a "side-departure" if you will, into the psychology of Graf. You were able to post that, without taking from the story at all, or without really setting the story in any unintended direction either. So, anyone who reads that, take it as you will, but I'll keep writing the story as I originally had it in my mind until finish.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Graf sheathes his sword, having decided on a suitable name. BlackWoe would be it's name, henceforth. Oam and Noman fight battle after battle, and Thaak wins battle after battle. Reign fights valiantly with his men, giving them a greater hope of victory. Deviant, not falling far from the action, lends his role in the battles to come.

One such battle takes place in an open field, surrounded by hills all around. At the onset of the battle men from both sides pour down these hills roaring into the field with fierce anticipation. Thaak slowly walks toward the top of the hill, and spots over on the other hilltop surveying the field Reign. Reign feels eyes on him, and turns to meet them. Reign's heart jumps, and for a moment both warriors stand motionless staring at one another. Reign says under his breathe, "Thaak..." In just that moment Reign thinks he notices a grin on the face of Thaak, and as he turns again to look and see if he mocks him he was gone, no longer there. Reign looks all around, and cannot see, but only hears. The telltale signs of Thaak are there, Reign can hear the shriekings of those two demon blades. Blades that one could swear were forged from the darkest depths of the world, from one of the most powerful demons existing using those horrifying spikes that protrude from his own spine. The blades themselves and how they got in Thaak's possession are just as clouded as their very origin. No one truly believed in demons, they were just that of fairy tale, and bed time folklore to scare the children. But, Reign believed in those swords, and he believed equally in their wielder.

One of the warriors taking part in this battle was Oam. Unknown to the horrors that Reign is aware of, he fights on, deaf to the haunting sounds of those two ominous blades.

I suppose you haven't exactly been following the story. You were in it for quite a few posts further back in the story. You went by a different name because neochrist wasn't befitting to the story. neochrist=nee'okrist(Sounds like knee, ah, chrised). So, you went by the name Nee'okrist in this story, but that chapter in the timeline is done now, and now I must focus on coming to a climax.

It's on page 1...right after Oam, Noman, and Deviant's ambush on Thaak and Graf backfired, and ends with Oam unconscious on the ground. It flips over Cronos and friends after that. That's also the first post that you are mentioned. Post #28, and it continues on for a few more posts.

Last edited by Cronos; 03-18-2004 at 11:02 PM.. Reason: Because neochrist wants to see his claim to fame.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Oam, being a little ahead of himself and over-eager in his actions decides to plow on through the field of men. Letting his sword get the best of him, he cuts air and limb with the greatest of haste. Limbs and bodies fall unceasingly to the ground as he makes his way further in the wall of flesh. As he moves on ahead, men of Cronos' ranks attempt to impede his progress and waylay him with all manner of weapons. As he makes his way through lighter armored infantry, he is engaged into combat with a soldier carrying a short sword. Oam spots this man as he attempts to thrust his short sword into Oam's gut. Oam brings his longsword down onto the sword, sending the soldier's arm down from the heavy hit. Even before the soldier has time to counter-attack, Oam sends his heavy boot into his abdomen and he hunches over in reaction to the heavy blow. As the soldier goes down gasping for air, Oam severs the arm that carried the blade. The soldier collapses to his knees and grabs the stub where his arm once was and lets out a crippling scream. With his head kneeled-down, screaming, Oam decapitates the pitiful soldier and he keels over as he is instantly muted.

He pushes forward, and another soldier comes at him, but this one adorned in chainmail and wielding a long sword. The soldier raises his hand to slash at him, and without even thinking of what kind of maneuver the soldier might use or tactic he might employ, Oam sends his right hand to connect with the soldier's jaw. The knuckleguard of the hilt busts open his jaw, and blood spews out with the few teeth that didn't break off his bleeding gums. The soldier staggers backwards and trips up on an unknown foot. As the soldier falls to his back, Oam severs his head from his neck as the body meets with the ground first. Oam gives a nod of acknowledgement to his longtime battle companion of these wars, whose well placed leg brought down that foe. That well placed leg, belonging to Noman, who is not too far from Oam's side in these and this very battle with Cronos' clan.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Been awhile, I know.

Noman, who is more of the cautious and careful fighter is very watchful of his surroundings. He uses initiative when he sees opportunity to strike or overcome his foe, and is very vigilant. He slowly wades through the bodies of men, sticking close to his comrades such as Oam. A soldier equipped in plate mail, and wielding a broad sword lunges forward a bit heavy in his sword arm side. Noman, noticing this, quickly takes advantage of this and aims his attacks to his unguarded side to force him to shift his weight back over to the other side in order to tire him. With his short sword in his right arm he slashes in toward the soldier's side forcing him to shift his weight over, just as the soldier shifts his weight over Noman unfastens a dagger from his belt and stabs it into the soldier's now unguarded side. Staggering back with pain, Noman now thrusts his short sword into the soldier's chest, piercing his breastplate and splitting through his ribs. Noman quickly tears the sword out from him, and the soldier falls forward with a heavy thud.

Noman turns to his side for a brief second to make sure Oam is still close to his side, as he turns back out from the corner of his eye he sees a broad sword slashing directly at him in order to cut him in half. The blade shrieks as it's swung, and Noman leans his torso over on his waist to narrowly avoid the blade. Then, another arm, another broad sword is flung at him, hacking downward with a crippling scream. Noman, is now forced to hurl his whole body back and out of the way in order to avoid being split down. The warrior jumps up and lunges at Noman, and Noman uses his short sword to block the blow from the broad sword. The blow from the broad sword hits incredibly hard, and it sends him back as he parries. The warrior brings in his other arm, and Noman raises up his short sword and the broad sword hitting his short sword sends Noman tumbling backwards. Noman quickly flips to his feet, and yells out, "Oam...HELP!!!" The warrior, Thaak, continues pursuit after his victim. Oam, hearing Noman's familiar voice, looks out through the corner of his eye, and sees Noman being pursued by Thaak. Disengaging himself with his current foe, he grabs their sword arm and pierces through through their chest with his long sword. Now, Oam sets his path toward Noman, who is currently in the fight for his life.

Well Cronos, while I didn't take the time to read the whole thing, I must commend you on your story-writing prowness(sp?). Pretty damn good. I disagree with the people saying less action more women though. I say more violence, more chics, and where are the alcohol references? Heh.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Deviant, a proud and virtuous man fights with the same principles. Wielding a katana in his right arm, and a wakizashi in his left he fights with a lot of honor. The wakizashi is a blade much shorter in length, but very similar in style to the curved blade of a katana. He uses very fluid movements to overcome his foes on the battlefield, overwhelming them careful and precise attacks from each weapon he wields. As soldiers fly past him on the battlefield, one such soldier adorned in plate mail and brandishing a two-handed sword engages in combat with him. The soldier raises the heavy sword with both hands, and Deviant holds his blades in a defensive position in order to parry. The soldier brings his blade down hard, and Deviant blocks with the wakazashi, and spins around to the side of the soldier and brings his katana across the soldier's back. The soldier winces forward with a jolt, and Deviant thrusts his wakizashi under the arm and through the vulnerable point of the armor. Deviant removes the blade, and the soldier slowly crashes forward on his face.

As Deviant fights valiantly, Oam engages Thaak. Noman looks over at his battle companion as he approaches, and Thaak darts to the side and immediately turns himself around. Now, Thaak is faced with Oam. "So good to see you finally once again Oam, I see your friend has decided to carry a weapon this time. Too bad he can't hold onto it!" Thaak rushes in towards Noman and brings down the weight of both broad swords at once on Noman. Noman is forced with nothing else but to hold up his short sword in defense, and the blade is forced out from his grip and spirals out of the way. Oam attempts to waylay Thaak from behind as he performs this stunt, but Thaak quickly brings back the broad sword in his left hand to also force Oam into a blocking maneuver. Then, he brings his elbow crashing up against Noman's jaw, and Noman stumbles backwards and falls on his back. Noman coughs up a tooth, and blood spills down his chin. Thaak engages in single combat with Oam now, and uses rapid attacks with his broad swords to force Oam into a defensive stance and allow time for Oam to mess up.

Deviant, makes his way toward the scene, and watches just as Noman gets an elbow landed on his jaw. He runs over to retrieve Noman's short sword and brings it to him. Thaak swings at Oam with his broad sword as Oam parries, and just as he's use to the repetition, Thaak lunges forward dragging his back leg behind him and buries his forearm into Oam's face. Not expecting the attack, it drives Oam speedily to meet with the ground. Thaak, now faces over to Deviant, who is eyeing him up and down, and trying to judge his new opponent.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

The other big name fighter on the battlefield is Reign. Though a smart and agile fighter, Reign has been known to act rashly if pushed to impatience. Even still, there is not a fighter around who has lived to see him die, and as of yet no one has gotten the better of Reign. With the crushing weight of his war hammer, Reign slaughters foes with a violent grace unheard of by warrior's of the battlefield. Moved by the violent death throes of his enemies, he continues to smash bone and flesh untouched and unaffected by the blood and gore that he hath wrought with his war hammer.

Out from the chaos, a soldier adorned in chain mail and swinging around a heavy battle axe charges towards Reign. Reign keeps his pace slowly toward the soldier, and as the soldier hacks down to split him in half, Reign dodges to the soldier's side and swings back his war hammer to crush into the back of the soldier's skull. Reign performs this, all the way looking forward as he presses on ahead and the soldier is catapulted forward into the pile of bodies laid strewn about him. Another soldier carrying an axe comes at Reign and slashes his axe, and Reign steps back as the axe narrowly swings by him. Without wasting a moment, Reign gracefully swings his war hammer upward, smashing into the soldier's chin. The soldier's entire lower jaw is busted off from his head, splitting off the lower half of his face as the teeth and blood spew back into his face. The soldier flies back and collapses to his back, as Reign pushes ahead and a soldier with a Halberd thrusts the weapon at Reign. Reign, gracefully steps to the side, and swings his war hammer smashing into the of the soldier's head. The soldier is lifted up from the ground and gets flown to the side, adding his body to the pile of corpses.

As Reign eventually rallies his men to break the line of men protecting the archers, Deviant and Thaak engage themselves in combat as Oam and Noman look on. Deviant, having judged his opponent, bows his head forward in respect. Deviant remembers the trouble they had gotten into with him before, though not getting the best look of the fighter before, he still remember the fighter belonging to these characteristics. Thaak walks forward, and is the first to engage combat. He slashes at Deviant with the broad sword in his left hand, as Deviant parries with the katana in his right. Then, Thaak slashes again with the broad sword in his right hand, and Deviant parries with the wakizashi in his left. Thaak, never intending to strike with either blow intends to catch Deviant off guard and jumps up at Deviant extending his right knee to crush into his abdomen. Deviant flips back avoiding the knee and slashes his katana as he lands on his feet. Thaak raises his right arm in time to block the katana with his gauntlet, and returns with a diagonal downward slash directed at Deviant. Deviant parries with his wakizashi and slashes diagonally upwards at Thaak, but Thaak smacks the katana to the side with the broad sword in his left hand. Deviant smiles and says, "This could go on forever...." Thaak looks Deviant in the eyes with a cold stare and grins. "It won't...."

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak quickly dashes towards Deviant, thrusting the broad sword in his left arm at Deviant. The sword hisses as it's thrust, and the blade passes Deviant by as he leans his body to the side. Thaak then uses the broad sword in his left hand and thrusts towards Deviant's neck, but Deviant immediately drops to his knees to avoid a gruesome demise. Now vulnerable, Deviant positions his swords in a defensive stance and quickly raises himself to his feet as he parries Thaak's sword swipes. At a standstill, the two continue to battle it out, as Oam and Noman attempt to catch Thaak off his guard. As they approach, Deviant points his katana over to them and cries out, "No! This is my fight, and this opponent is mine. There would be no honor for you to just overwhelm him as he is engaged with me. Stay out of this!" The two of them back away slowly, and work towards defeating other opponents on this battlefield.

Meanwhile, Reign is slaughtering the now vulnerable archers raining hell on the battlefield. He rallied his men through the lines protecting the archers, and now is leading the slaughter of those archers. The archers that aren't caught off guard take out their short swords and daggers and attempt to fend off Reign and his men, but it isn't enough for them to defend themselves against Reign's brutal destruction. Reign raises his war hammer, and brings it down, slapping a short sword from an archer's hands. Then, Reign brings back his war hammer to smash the side of the archer's face, spewing blood from his mouth as he skids to side. Reign brings his war hammer crashing down onto another archer's head, ending him and then cracks his war hammer into the ribs of another. Finishing up the slaughter of the archer's, Reign continues the rally and moves out to clean up the battlefield of the rest of the remaining forces. He continues on through the fighting as the sounds of the familiar wailing of Thaak's ominous broad swords draws nearer. Eventually, he too is at the sight of Deviant and Thaak engaged in combat, as Oam and Noman look on.

Thaak notices Reign, but doesn't acknowledge him and continues his fight with Deviant. The two clash swords, blocking and parrying with no sign of wear. As Reign approaches, Deviant realizes and quickly turns his head just a little. Thaak, waiting for this opportunity, thrusts and stabs Deviant right under his left shoulder blade. Deviant cries out in pain and shock, "Aaaauuugh!" Reign mutters under his breath, "Damn..." Then, Thaak rips his sword right out of Deviant and raises his leg to land a foot right into Deviant's chest sending him backwards and on his back. Thaak grins, and then acknowledges Reign. "Shouldn't have let down his focus for even a moment, I had anticipated and waited on it." Reign glances over at his wounded comrade and says, "You could have killed him...."

Thaak responds with, "Yes...I could have, though I would have rather just rendered him useless on the battlefield. He has potential for Cronos' ranks, and once I kill you and your traitorous warlords he will have no choice but to fight under Cronos' rule or he will die." Reign bares his teeth, "Kill me!? Hah! You're in a pointless battle, your forces are on the losing end! You couldn't kill me, and even if you did it would mean nothing as you would be slowly overwhelmed and killed by my outnumbering forces. Give up! Surrender to me now, and I will do you the honor of returning to your Lord Cronos, but without those two blades of yours of course." Thaak lets a smirk escape from his lips and says, "Well, you can't get these swords until you fight me yourself." Reign charges Thaak and swings his war hammer across to hook Thaak in the side.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak immediately strikes Reign's war hammer with a stunning force using the broad sword in his right hand. A slow hum emanates from his broad sword as Thaak deflects Reign's blow. Reign's arm jerks back from the force, and he firmly keeps his footing to avoid being knocked back. Reign attacks again, this time chopping down from overhead. Thaak readies himself, and criss-crosses his two broadswords in a fashion to deflect and catch reign's war hammer. The shaft of reign's war hammer lands between Thaak's two broad swords, and Thaak aggressively pushes forward causing Reign to stumble back a little. Thaak immediately rushes Reign and thrusts with his broad sword, and Reign slashes his war hammer across hitting the flat side of Thaak's sword and sending it hissing to the side.

The fight goes on like this for awhile, and though Reign tried his best to stay on the offensive and keep Thaak into a position of continually blocking, Reign is now on the defensive and finding it very hard to keep it up fighting with a war hammer against an opponent wielding two broad swords. Now overwhelmed, and a little enraged at not being able to do anything but use the shaft of his war hammer as a means of blocking attacks, Reign lashes back at Thaak with a little something more. Thaak brings his broadsword in a chopping motion downward onto Reign, and Reign holds up the shaft of his war hammer to block the attack. Then, Reign, in a rash maneuver, begins charging forward at Thaak screaming and putting force behind the shaft and pushing Thaak back. Thaak begins walking backwards as Reign throws all his weight into it and he shoves the shaft of his war hammer down, sending Thaak on his back and into the ground.

Reign then lifts his war hammer up to bring it smashing down into Thaak's ribs, but Thaak immediately rolls to the side and jumps to his feet. Thaak grunts and says, "Hm! Impressive...I don't remember the last time my back met with the ground. You've sullied me today...It's just too bad we can't continue this...." Reign raises an eyebrow and says, "What do you mean...?" Thaak cackles and says, "Well you have to lose, and I have a battle to finish here. What? You didn't think you could win here today did you? You've been set up! Why do you think we've chosen such a perfect location to carry out our battle here today?" Thaak raises his broadswords high in the air and lets out a battle cry. The cry echoes across the battlefield, and the remaining men answer his call with their own cries. Then, a stampede is heard, and rushing down the hills surrounding the battlefield comes a barrage of charging and screaming men to rendezvous with the rest of the fighting forces on the field. More of Cronos' soldiers come rushing into the open fields surrounded by those hills to finish the slaughter of Reign's forces. Reign's jaw drops in shock and dismay and he screams back to his warlords and his men. "Retreat! We have to retreat!!!"

Noman and Oam set off in the other direction behind the other fleeing soldiers, and Reign darts off from the scene with Thaak. Deviant attempts to raise himself to his feet with his severe gaping wound and cries out, "Reign wait!" He raises his hand to him as he tries to lift himself and Thaak slowly steps toward Deviant and presses his Broad Sword to his neck. Reign turns around briefly to see Deviant held down, and then turns his attention back forward to continue the charge off the field. Reign and his two warlords Oam and Noman lead the charge through a light flank of Cronos' soldiers as they made their retreat. As Reign and his two warlords and anyone else heeding to the call to retreat make it off the field, the stragglers were left to the slaughter...and Deviant...was left to Thaak....

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak removes the broad sword at Deviant's neck, and sheathes his two broad swords. The carnage around them settles, and any forces that hadn't fled were massacred. Deviant stares up at Thaak a little astonished and says, "What do you plan on doing with me...I won't fight for you." Thaak looks around and surveys the bloodlust, takes in a heavy breath, and says, "You would rather be killed? How noble... " Deviant grits his teeth and says, "I'm not afraid of dying you know, I lost the battle, you should have killed me then because I would never submit to your lord." Thaak grins and says, "My lord...? What about your lord? He betrayed you! He left you here to die...which strikes me as puzzling, because he knew that I would like to see you fight for Cronos. Why on earth wouldn't he have just killed you himself, or attempted to return for you? Your worth...means nothing to him. He either thinks he has you so well convinced that you would rather die for a traitor like him, or that you would be a meaningless addition to Cronos' ranks. Why would you fall for a man who wouldn't even look at you as you lay there helpless and wounded?" Deviant sort of looks to the side and says, "He...he couldn't have done much for me...he was-"

Thaak interrupts, "He couldn't have fought for you? Did you not see how the battle was going!? I can't even remember the last time I lost my footing in combat, he was unpredictable! The slightest slip up, and I would have been bludgeoned to death in one blow! Why couldn't he have done much more for you!? What makes you think he couldn't have continued the battle we were fighting before making such a hasty retreat!? YOUR WORTH IS NOTHING TO HIM! The only thing he concerns himself with is that of his own survival to carry on his lineage and rule the ages! To be immortalized as the ruling family of Tulopia! Face it, you're just another able hand to him." Deviant shuts his eyes and sighs, "I...I've fought for him for so long, and I barely even know what I'm fighting for. One day he came into my home with nothing, and then he rallied entire ranks of men under his command and I watched it all happen. I guess...I guess I just unwittingly became a part of that without thinking."

Thaak looks down at his wounds and says, "You've been wounded...think how long it will take to heal a wound like that.... You’re no longer an effective fighter as far as he's concerned. Why would anyone turn back for you now in your state? You're no good to him in your present condition and he's thinking about how he'll win this war. I guarantee you, you're not part of that now at your current state. That's why you were not a risk he was willing to gamble on. The only reason I'm telling you this, is because when the real victor comes out of this whole thing...you could still be a capable fighter when all of this is over. I just think you would be better on the winning end. You think about it, I have to return to my sovereign lord." Thaak abruptly turns around and his hair jerks back with him as he stomps off weighted down by his cumbersome gear that he somehow manages to fight with the greatest of ease in. The soldiers on the field follow suit, and march off following their revered war hero. Deviant is left struggling with his wounds in the dirt, surrounded by countless limp and lifeless bodies.

Re: A story based off the "characters" I see here.

Thaak returns to the fortress awaiting a presence with Cronos. It takes little time for Thaak to be summoned forward, and he stands before Cronos with his account of a battle strategy that had payed off. Thaak, also explains Deviant and his plight, as well as the condition he had left him in. Cronos raises an eyebrow.

"You left him...? Alive?" Thaak nods his head in acknowledgement and raises it to say, "Yes, he was the most formidable opponent I had ever faced. Never before had I seen such courage, such honor, such valor in all my countless battles. It is true, that I have met a worthy fighter, but one that has never crossed my sword before." A smile escapes Cronos, "You flatter me venerable Thaak, but do tell me how this move benefits the war effort." Thaak responds astutely, "Well, my my sovereign lord, he is an able fighter. Though I was able to overcome him, I still could not pass up the opportunity to convert him to our own. He would be another worthy fighter to the cause, and with Reign's betrayal I made it clear that he was just another pawn in a game." Cronos rests his chin on his knuckles, "I see...so you think he could be swayed now with respects to these latest occurences? Well then, what makes you think he is even alive now? You left him there, remember? With grievous wounds as it sounds." Thaak answers back, "He's alive...it would take a finishing blow to bring him down. Believe me, I know. He has the disposition of a true fighter, as of right now he's probably fighting his way back to wherever he can get some solace. I've instilled him with doubt, I've given him some questions without answers. He will come to make a decision, and I welcome either one."

Cronos stands up and slowly descends towards Thaak, approaching him he lays his hand to rest on Thaak's shoulder. Cronos begins to laugh, "Ahhh Thaak, you never fail to astound me. Always looking forward to glorious battles.... Don't fret, I have no worries. If this fighter joins us, you have my gratitude, if this fighter crosses us, you have your battle again."

Meanwhile, Deviant races against his own body to stay alive and find clarity with the bitter thoughts racing through his mind. These thoughts bring him stumbling before Cronos' mighty walls....
