I smile without nothing
With so much in my way
Anything is better than nothing
Well at least that’s what they say.
I spent so many clocks
To have nice clocks at home
Stabbed so many backs
For decent pieces of bone
I slice deep into stone
A signature
To share with myself
As I sit to view the day
An engine fades and dies away
Still sitting
I watch the rain wash everything away
Everything I did.
Everything I made
They rebuild
And I smile
For that was me for a while
Toiling away
Pointless on a scale
But not in that moment of bliss
Where a breath
Buys one more kiss
Or simply more time to complain.
Don’t rush
You’re a long time dead anyway.
Well at least that’s what they say.
