Religion’s love, a double-edged knife
he devastated my once wholesome life
he tried to make me feel alive
‘without him, I would die’: the lie
Religion was merely posturing in sorrow
and even asked me for some to borrow
I paid a drop of blood or three
since then, he’s never bothered me

Vanity’s love was sugary sweet
Swallowing tasted like a sugary treat
but it was a poison candied defeat
that spoiled my heart to sugary meat
Vanity wanted to eat me
consume me meat blood and bone
so I tore his fucking heart out
and ate my meal alone
almost grew into a woman
until I called Shame up on the phone

Shame was a loaded gun
playing with him is lots of fun
but when I asked him for a promise
he said he didn’t have one
I rushed ahead to win the game
but the savage are so hard to tame
so ready to hurt and maim
so unwilling to share their name
Shame bruised me, it was over
and when I left him I was sore

Envy made me want him
because envy was my twin
but everything he had was better
and at every game he’d win
I had to cut him off myself
for this is where envy led
you use your might
you cut to spite
and I severed off my head
the amputation left a wound
that opened up and bled

more blood than ever before
soaked through the carpets
and through the floor
into the ground
where I was found
with a dart
through my heart
when you pull it out
it becomes a spout

pouring blood is much like crying
as giving up sounds just like sighing
but sighing is not dieing
and bleeding is not needing
because pain is only weakness leaving.
