I will probably regret saying this but i do not think we should expect an album till at least early 2013. If you look at the touring compared to the release of albums, pre lateralus Tool didnt tour for 3 whole years(excluding coachella) and pre 10K days they didnt tour for nearly four years, now, theyve done bits of touring every year since 10Kdays exept 2008 and besides, if they havent even started making the flinging tunes for a new album...? i mean, come oooon!

I will probably regret saying this but i do not think we should expect an album till at least early 2013. Well according to most recent interviews (not just that one with danny), they say they feel like they are smack dab in the middle of the writing process. How could they "barely be close to the early stages" when more than a year and a half ago Justin and Adam said they had just started writing? Granted, they were only bouncing riffs off each other at that point... but I think you've missed a few updates along the way.
Danny also said, 3 or 4 great frameworks, which as many have pointed out could be anywhere from 3 to 8 songs given the possibility of 2 or even 3 part songs (Keys>Stoned D>R>T et al). For all we know they could be only 2-4 months of good rehearsal/jam time from saying they have enough to go into the studio. That in itself will take a few more months, plus mastering, plus packaging, plus artwork. So the idea of the album being out by Q4 2011 or Q1 2012 doesn't seem far fetched... especially with the band reinforcing it.
But hey, whatever. Maybe it will come out in 2013. I just don't see anything that justifies that prediction.
