Looking good for a late 2011 release imo....

I am sure this has been posted before in this thread but I wanted to look back at the first few pages, lol! We were so optimistic back in 2011. Crazy how long it's been talked about. I understand all the things that have happened between then and now, lawsuits, blah, blah, etc, but it's been a long fuck off wait since they said they were working on actual new material. Not just us speculating that they were working on new stuff, but they actually were speaking freely about it happening. Now I am rambling. *crawls back in the lurker pose*

If anyone wants to look at Tool in a different light they should look up "Schism in major key" It's like a brand new song.

It's just funny, the music video and song. I was just doing a pun on Maynard about the different light stuff.

Can you guys believe that all 3 new Star Wars movies will have been released by next May? There wasn't even plans for a new SW movie 11 years ago...
Let that sink in.

in the spirit of continuing lulz, here is some totally legit Tool news from Reddit:
Quote:
There's no way I can prove this, as I've built a name and career for myself that I'm absolutely not willing to risk. You'll have to take my word for it.
The new Tool album will be out in May of this year. The vocals are finished, and the band is very far ahead of schedule. It's obvious that doing new APC music has motivated Maynard, as the whole vocal process took less than two weeks.
There will be 13 songs, a few of which are under ten minutes, but the majority are LONG...If you thought the packaging for 10,000 Days was over the top, you are in for a treat. That's all I'll say.
The song that we know as Ascending is on there, but it's paired with two other songs and is definitely the least interesting of the trio (although it's still great–think Parabol/a). It's followed by a song called Descending, and a third called Innocence.
The first single will be the title track–it will be out at the end of April.

No really guys, I can't give you any evidence to validate this because I work in the industry and I signed an NDA. If I were to disclose anything that would push this claim beyond speculation, the band's management would know exactly who to point the finger at and I'd never work in this town again. I'm just so excited about this new album that I had to create a fake account on reddit just to give the fan base these absolutely necessary and not predictable pieces of information. So long as I don't say anything else, the band and their label will be totally cool with me and it won't jeopardize my career that I'm doing such a good job protecting.

It really wasn't until this most recent listen that maynard's lyrics, and that alone, deflated my opinion of the song a bit. Musically, his vocals included, I still hold it and the rest of the album in fairly high regard. Thematically, 10kdays could have stuck to the wall better by comparison to it's predecessors... these are my thoughts in full as to make my opinion clear to you hellboy.
edit: nvm, one more thought. Listening to Right In Two having now heard songs like Hourglass, Doomed and Disillusioned, has me worried.

I don't get all the butthurt over the "theme" of the lyrics personally.

People like being hypercritical of others so they forget to think about their own net offering to this world. The reality is we all suck pretty bad as we are, let alone if we were to compare ourselves to Maynard.
Just try to enjoy art. If you don't, listen to something else.

chances are that i'm gonna like it. any criticism from me is probably sarcasm. i just don't want to speculate because i don't want to raise my expectations just to end up disappointed. i can't really be disappointed if i don't expect anything, right? i mean... unless they completely fuck it up... but i'm honestly not even worried about that. even with all of the "meh" APC lately.

Fair enough, there's a gradient. must be 2006 if I'm defending Maynard.
I'm expecting there to a lot good with the new album, and a lot that could've been made way better.

Either I will complain in my head that there aren't enough political statements or there are too many. In any event, I only like the other albums more as time goes by. I would be surprised if I don't love this one. I can't wait to play guess what Maynard is saying. That is always fun.

That game is less fun the more obvious it becomes.
