Personally I view it as a tale of two people coming together in the midst of chaos, and the speaker is completely at peace, and would not have things *snicker* any other way.

But of course, this song could be interpreted to be about two people, two groups, two species, whatever the hell. And people probably don't agree with my interpretation.
