I cannot wake up from this dream
Staring up from my seat on a sharp rock
The river, once a pretty sight, passes on
The moon banishing the sun back into shadow
I can still see it hanging from the bridge
The rope, still forming an ominous circle
Twisted by my own pain and suffering
I can still feel the sharp threads scraping my throat
Even though I escaped the noose
I cannot wake up
Hours pass by in mere seconds to me
The noose sways along in the breeze
Begging me to come back and visit
And I know that in time, I will see it again
I cannot wake up from this dream
Staring up from my seat on a sharp rock
The river, once a pretty sight, passes on
The moon banishing the sun back into shadow
I can still see it hanging from the bridge
The rope, still forming an ominous circle
Twisted by my own pain and suffering
I can still feel the sharp threads scraping my throat
Even though I escaped the noose
I cannot wake up
Hours pass by in mere seconds to me
The noose sways along in the breeze
Begging me to come back and visit
And I know that in time, I will see it again
I saw a short film in 11th grade English class that followed a similar story.
A Union soldier during the Civil War was about to be hung by some Confederates off a bridge. As he fell off the bridge, the noose slipped off his neck and he plunged into the river below. The Confederates gave chase down the river and all he could do was scramble any way he could to escape. Eventually he lost them and came upon his beautiful wife. They started running towards each other and just before they touched...FLASH of white light and the scene turned back to himself hanging from the bottom of the rope. It was a very interesting story.
Nice poem though.

youre thinking of the Twilight Zone episode or the movie that it was based on(reedited), based on Ambrose Bierce's "Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" here is the link to the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056300/

Yup that's the one...the movie that it was based on we watched. His poem reminded me a lot of that movie.
