Nope. Q in the orchestra is pretty far back. I have Balcony-1 D myself. Just opinion, though.
Actually, row Q is 2nd row under the front of balcony 1. The balcony overhang closely matches the break on the floor in front of row P. Here is a link showing how the balcony overhangs the orchestra.
I know, but broker sites don't have the seat numbers .. just the rows.
If this is in regards to Stubhub.com, you can call them and ask for the seat numbers. Just find their 800 number on the site, and go through the "buying tickets" prompt. Have the price and row of the seats you are looking at handy. I certainly did before I shelled out $244 a piece for my Balcony1 Row D's. :) Another thing to keep in mind regarding Stubhub.com: they add a 10% service fee to the price of the tickets. When you are talking about tickets that are this high, that service fee can add quite a bit onto your final price....just a warning. For my 4 tickets at $244 each, my final price was $1,085.55. *shudders*
Not sure about all of this with other brokerage sites, however.
if you need an actual brick and mortar place in town theyre the one's to use. Still, theyre assholes so prepare to feel warm and fuzzy.
lol, i'll keep it in mind thanks.
the wife was the one to talk to them and they were the only brokers to cut us a multi-show deal. she didnt have anything bad to say about them, we'll see though
oh and if anyone could give me some suggestions on what to do while we're in town. we're staying at the swissotel, so anything in "the loop" (i think its called)or within walking distance.
we'll be there from thursday to sunday so we have some time voids to fill

hey...these places might sound 'touristy' but they are cool and are downton (in no particular order):
-millenium park
-art institute
-shedd aquarium
-lake michigan bike/walking path

I've lived in Chicago for quite a while and would be more than willing to point out some good stuff to see/do. You can also get around the rest of the city very easily on the trains and busses. Pm me or also try to aim me sometime at handleofvodka and we can chat about it. Chicago is a great city. I've stayed at the Swissotel too and it is very nice. The Palm restaurant is very expensive but its in the bottom of the hotel and has the best steak I've ever had. I didn't mind paying $75 for a 16 ounce fillet and a side dish, it was just that tasty.
Chicago Tool people, any of you happen to be good drummers? :D

Conan O'Brien is taping his show in Chicago Tuesday-Friday of that week. I applied for tickets over a month ago and got them, but there usually is some standby room for these tapings if you're interested. The theater he is at is only a mile away from where Tool is playing.
Here's some info for anyone that is interested:
www.nbc.com/nbc/Late_Night_with_Conan_O'Brien/Chicago/
I think Conan is awesome, and to get to see him and Tool back to back days kicks ass. I'll be at the Friday taping.
I will see you guys there! I bought a ticket in Balcony 1, Row P, Seat 314. 190 bucks. I am so excited.
For those of you with limits up to about 200, there is a Balcony 1, Row L seat on ebay for about 209 Buy It Now, and a 199 UBX ticket. I almost considered those, till I find this. woo
Yeah I was looking for things to do in Chi other than Tool too-the Cubs are in town, Saturday afternoon game is already sold out though. Maybe try to catch them on Sunday.
Quick question- how is it getting from the airport (Ohare to the Loop?) Planning on avoiding the taxi this time and taking the train, should be no problems, right?

George,
Sorry, but I don't have any info for your questions, as I am not from the area...but your post did make me think. I see you are from New York, correct?
Where is everyone from that is going to the Chicago show? I myself am from St. Louis, as are my husband and my 2 younger brothers who will be coming with me. I think it really says a lot about our dedication to the band when we travel hundreds of miles (not to mention, the cost) to see them. :)

You can take the blue line train from ohare straight into the Loop.
Anyone wanting to use CTA, you can get directs to and from places at www.yourcta.com and use the trip planner on the right side of the screen. Don't believe the times though and give yourself at least 30 minutes extra. :D
As far as the cubs, you can go there and buy tickets outside for just a lil over face value.
thanks for all the info guys. she says she just wants to "wing it" once we get there. so i'm compiling a list of the recommendations you guys have given us so we can just go "this looks like fun, lets go do that now" once we're there.
and jill, we're living just north of jacksonville, florida.
hey, just reading through the chicago posts. if you're looking for something to do when you get to town, pickup the chicago reader, the red-eye, or time out (first two are free press). they have a lot of good things to do in terms of music, drink specials, etc. also check out www. metromix.com for similar stuff and www.chicagostonerrock.com for some local rock.

Blue from inside th airport to the loop, easier than any other city. Redline from the look up to Addison stop, if you go on Sat you will find a ticket, for cheap, esspecially the bleachers, just be patient.
ckechout TA: fellowship...preshowgettogethers...Chicago 5/13...The Plan
I know one place in North Chicago that has great pork chops off the grill, bacon salad(!), cheap beers etc.- Moody's, heres the link : http://www.moodyspub.com/
I just wanted to say one thing for this. After being unsuccessful at getting tickets for this gig due to a required event away from my house (just so happening to be at 11 am that particular Saturday....!!!!!!) , we can all conclude on one fact. Scalpers have no souls. They really don't...all they do is loiter around just in time to get tickets for anything, thus keeping the REAL fans away. Not to mention that it would have been the most kick ass birthday ever. Fuck them.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone bought tickets off a scalper for this, get good seats? If I had that kinda money, I would still go and pay off those bastards anyway.

max- no fucking way my policy is I dont deal with scalpers PERIOD, let them eat their tickets for all I care. Nothing pleases me more than seeing the lot of them desperate to get rid of their tickets once the show starts, at below face.
Two other reasons not to deal with scalpers- bogus/cancelled tickets (beware! I think this is more common than ever) plus you can get robbed if not careful, literally...

yeah on second thought, you're absolutely right. They don't deserve to make sales of any kind. Better knowing that they actually lost money paying for those tickets (if they are even authentic indeed) than knowing they made $250+

I paid a broker because I wanted to see Tool, not because I wanted to give them money. I don't like that they are making cash off of this, but I won't let it ruin my chance of seeing Tool in a small venue.
Hopefully some day, these scalpers will become obsolete.
I think there is hope to believe in the failure of scalpers eventually. A small venue Tool show would be the classic cup of tea...obviously this is mutual for everyone else, since these shows sold out in about two seconds. No assholes starting a mosh pit...there were seats. Anyway I feel this would have been a great way to see Tool for the first time, unfortunately that has been obliterated. Luckily, there is still much hope obviously, as Maynard's email was posted on the official site about the full-on tour to come. That sure boosted my discouragement.
