Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Nope, I got through only 30 seconds after they went on sale, and reserved was already gone for both concerts. I've got GA for the Myer, and I'm in section 20 at the entertainment centre...right on the fucking side.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
As far as being able to see the band is concerned would the "silver" seats be better than standing? I read in one of these threads that the seats are all in front of the standing area...gold right up the front, and then silver was seats at the back and then standing behind that.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
i got silver. very disappointed i couldnt get seats. as i am from brisbane if the silver tickets arent going to be much better than a bdo ticket i may consider selling them, i need to find out more about the venue before i think about that decision though.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Man that was intense. And all I came away with was a crappy ga ticket. So wanted seats. Ticketmaster are morons, why put the 2 biggest states in australia on sale at the same time. They know they can't keep up with demand for just one state let alone 2. Fucking frustrating stuff.

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Well if things are going the way i think they are and that is that Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane only get BDO shows Tool might return after their north american tour for an arena tour of Australia. Sort of like how they did the promo tour in Sydney and Melbourne in 2001 and returned nine months later in 2002 to do all cities. Maybe. They certainly have the fan base
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I lined up at the Ticketmaster agency near me and only the first guy in line managed to get gold tickets, this was at 9:01am. I was 7 or 8 people back and had to settle for silver.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I find it bizarre that they put the standing people behind the seats. To me it seems like standing in Syd is worth a lot more than standing in melb because you are much closer and probably see more?
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Its just the venue. They can't take the seats out so ya stuck with it. I'm glad it's not at rod laver again though. Seen em twice there, and I really don't like that joint for concerts.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I was thinking it's hard to see Maynard at the best times since he hovers at the back in the shadows. Gonna pretty diificult to see him from the grass area of th Myer bowl, plus it looks like it would be difficult to see the screens from there as well. Since Tool is such a visual band the Music Bowl seems like the worst venue to put them into
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Fucking hell. No melbourne, but we got thru on the phone from here in New Zealand and the guy says theres 2 TICKETS LEFT FOR SYDNEY and we get them... unbelievable i wonder if he's being honest thats theres only 2 seats left... shitty seats, i think 35 H, but fuck, how fucking lucky is that... I just hope it's all legit, I mean why would they say its sold out if it isn't... I won't believe it until the tickets arrive...
The thing is, got thru on the internet to melbourne, had 2 tickets, gave credit details, and then when i clicked confirm it came up with a blank mothafucking page saying something about no module found...

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
It will be interesting to see how it goes. The place might get rushed like the time Pearl Jam played there. That would add some excitment to the night.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
There asking for trouble when they keep putting these heavy bands there. And this happens everytime. So much for learning from your mistakes. I have a feeling all us in ga are going to have a very unpleasant night indeed.

WTF?
i thought it was all standing?
Hmmm I saw that too. I hope they're not thinking of putting foldable chairs into a section of the grass area. They wouldn't would they? With potential weapon use and everything
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I'm hoping its just for ticketing organisational purposes - like at Rod Laver you get GA1 or GA2 tickets and it's all just the same - and there are no actual sections and seats. Maybe we should call either Ticketmaster or the Music Bowl?
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
hahahaa it's just a measure for the system to count the tickets. And also cuz they often do have seated sections in the lawn area...u know for shit like christmas in the domain and stuff like that
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I'm beginning to think might be safer to stay away from the Myer Bowl on 31st of Jan. 5,000 foldable chairs in the hands of angry people who can't see much of the action, 2,000 + angry people outside the venue hovering by the venue who couldn't get tickets. Recipe for disaster perhaps. Then again we're not Metallica fans or Pearl Jam fans - I like to think of us as more peaceful than that

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I got gold- and nearly everyone with me did too. We were pretty organised tho- and I was first in line.
Sorry guys that missed out....
Apparently, about half the seats were taken by the promoters before the show even went on sale-effectively screwing over fans. Heard this from the ticketmaster sales chick Thursday arvo. So no wonder so many missed out-we were all warned that we probably wouldn't get seats at quarter to 9, so anyone that got anything should be bloody grateful. The bastard scalpers are gonna make an absolute killing on this one.

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Sorry to those who missed out! Just a point of advice for next time: My mates dad got our tickets for us this morning. First he tried online but no luck, so then he decided to call the sporting venues and other numbers that were listed on the Ticketmaster page...I guess all those types of venues can book for the same show. So if there is a second show then try that.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I felt strongly enough about this mess to right the following letter, I feel it's no point me complaining if my voice isn't heard by those that matter/are blissfully unawre/can do something about it.
25 August 2006
Ticketmaster Pty Ltd
Level 7, IBM Centre
60 City Road
Melbourne VIC 3006
Dear Sir/Madam
I write to you in response to the ticket release today the 25th of August for the Tool concerts in both Sydney and Melbourne.
Previous to today I have never been a customer of Ticketmaster Pty Ltd though I am an avid fan of live music and concerts and I am the purchaser of concert tickets many times in a given year.
To say the least, today’s experience was neither joyous nor rewarding. The experience of having to deal with Ticketmaster is one I do not wish to endure in the near future.
To describe Ticketmaster’s method of ticket sales today as experiencing a ‘meltdown’ would not be a harsh criticism. To be blunt, I think it was an outright disaster.
If the explanation to be given is that such a high demand was not expected, well that just doesn’t sit right with me. My response would be do some research before a show or shows go on sale.
It would not be difficult to expect any band with a devoted following, high album sales and a past record of selling out venues in a short amount of time to experience a strong desire by music fans for tickets to its shows. Especially when this strong demand crashes your systems, systems you rely on in order to sell tickets and therefore conduct your business.
If Ticketmaster systems can not cope with said demand, I would suggest that in the future Ticketmaster review their practices of selling tickets and not schedule both shows to go on sale on the same day at the same time, rather release the tickets on separate days to lessen the stress on Ticketmaster’s systems by the ticket purchasers.
I myself attempted to buy tickets via the internet and phone. Both were predominately inaccessible until tickets were sold out. This is a mistake I will not be making again unless Ticketmaster deems it fit to rethink its method of ticket sales or upgrades its ticket sale systems.
I have bought concert tickets for previous Tool shows and other major rock bands in recent times and have never had a problem securing excellent tickets let alone tickets at all, it seems if you get in reasonably early you will find yourself successful.
I also find it a blessing that I’m not a fan of U2 as having to experience this twice would be most disheartening and frankly I thought lessons would have been learnt from that incident and progress have been made.
Although I was ultimately unsuccessful in securing tickets today to the Sydney show I do not blame anyone least of all Ticketmaster. It’s a first in best dressed affair. If demand is higher than what’s currently being supported, then people will miss out, I accept that and today I was one of those people. But I do blame Ticketmaster’s 2 out of 3 systems of sale failing which resulted in me being unable to purchase tickets.
I do not seek anything other than an explanation and maybe even an apology if Ticketmaster sees it fit, but ultimately what I would like to see happen the most out of this whole mess is to receive some kind of assurance that this kind of ‘meltdown’ will not happen again and that ticket releases are rethought logically as to allow as much as possible a hassle free ticket buying experience.
I really do hope that this matter is taken into consideration as I really would like to be a customer of Ticketmaster Pty Ltd in the future just not under its current guise.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter and I look forward to your reply.
Yours Faithfully

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Man sorry for all you who missed out, that really does suck.
I lined up at 3am, was 4th in line, and managed to score myself 4 gold tickets, row Q, 17 from the front, not too shabby. Gold sold out in less than a minute. Im pretty bloody happy I managed to get gold, even if they guy punched in my credit card no. wrong the first time and had to re-do it which probably cost me 7 rows. Oh well, it was worth the wait in line, even if I was rewarded with this cold...
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Don't know if I got tickets yet....my sister went to get them this morning at the Melbourne Uni Bookshop. Hopefully not many people were there *fingers crossed*. Should find out later on today when she gets home.
