Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Anyone going to camp out for tickets? Is it really necessary? i havent been to any previous Tool shows, so im not sure if i should camp out on thursday night, or just head in early fri morning. Any help would be appreciated.

I will be, and I'm sure others will be...2002 sold out in under half an hour, and this is a smaller venue. I'd lay a bet that the 2000 seats will be gone in less than 10 minutes... well worth the cold night under the stars though. :)

Well...my sister is going to get them from a ticketmaster where there probably won't be that long a line, so should hopefully get seated tickets for us (I want to be as close as possible. And I doubt anyone will be actually sitting down anyway.) But yeah, we'd go online if I wasn't at school. Still not guaranteed though.

I trust Ticketmasters website for "high demand" events about as far as I can throw a Mac truck. So, no not unanimous. Preferably, make sure you have at least 2 options on the go- phone AND net, queue AND net, whatever.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Thanks ninwishes, Oh well fuck, it i think i'll have to camp out then. Any particular Ticketmaster outlet you'd recommend? What time should i get there thursday?

I dunno...I'm thinking the Arts Centre, mostly cause it's well lit, and I'll be by myself. I reckon I'll get there by about 5, but some PPL would say I'm nuts.
EDIT: Heading there that early to avoid the "after workers".

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
....I still can't find any details suggesting they are playing the BDO. This is a bit of a disaster :(. Stuck between buying a ticket to the Sydney gig, or ending up at a crappy BDO gig :\
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Same, to see them at bdo would be lame, cause im not going to like any of the other bands, but i spose its better then nothing. i just wish we could get some more info.

Exactly what I was planning to do. But I have class that I have to go to, and it finishes at 9:30pm. Then I have a half hour walk to the box office. So about 10pm for me. I hope I’m not to late.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Well in NZ it's been on the news that they are playing BDO right? So obviously they'll be playing BDO in aus too...
As for online vs. lining up...I have been lining up since my heart-wrenching experience on Ticketek buying PJ tickets on the 2003 tour. HOWEVER, my online experiences with Ticketmaster have been good so far. *knocks on wood*.

Some friends of mine had a very bad experience buying Radiohead tickets from the ticketmaster website. It seems to be a bit hit and miss with internet ticketing. Sometimes its fine and other times its not.

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I suppose all isn't lost <yet>. We aren't even 100% certain that they are playing BDO in Australia yet. Until we get some confirmation - we are indeed in limbo. Weak.
I think it's amazing that the respective ticketing houses don't at least collaborate to a point of announcing appropriate tickets for various regions in sync.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
The ticketing should be alot more organised than this, this has me worrying alot.

Yep. The ticketing for this is shitful- they should have scheduled different ticketing times for Sydney and Melbourne...Friday morning's gonna be stupid.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I'm really stressing that I'm not going to get tickets. I'll be going to a suburban location to get mine, but can only get there at 8am on Friday. Just hope there aren't too many there.
What chances of a second show do you guys think?
From what I can see they don't usually do multiple shows in one location, so might only be just one show.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
yeah esp. not if they are doing Big Day Out. But I just read on sonybmg.com.au something that echoes the press release...that shows for perth, adelaide, qld, etc ARE SCHEDULED, and will be announced later.
Maybe they know that the syd and melb shows are going to have the highest demand, which is why it got announced first..and maybe this can be an indicator that there might be subsequent melb and syd shows!
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Ive heard from a few sources that under short bursts of high demand traffic the ticketmaster servers are not completely reliable. For that reason ill be heading out about 6ish, should be in line by about 6:30... and hopefully i wont have any trouble getting tickets...

They could bloody well announce it before Friday to stop Bris-Perth-Adelaide PPL buying up Melb & Sydney tickets....
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
I have never really had an issue getting tickets online, even to U2 last year which went through Ticketmaster. However I'm still just as nervous as everyone else. It's annoying there was no web presale.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Damnit, I'm working 9am-2pm that day, couldn't be worse.. I'm thinking they'll sell out in a day, but hopefully I can get someone to hassle them for tickets for me. My ticketmaster membership doesn't mean shit without a presale. Damnit.
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Well, I'm calling this a miserable failure. I've now called QTix, Ticketmaster and Ticketek. They all know, supposedly, absolutely nothing about whats going on....

I still think these other shows are Big Day Out shows. (hence "Queensland" not Brisbane.. ie Gold Coast BDO).
So I will be getting Sydney tickets and flying down. If there happens to be a real Brisbane show i'll sell my Sydney tickets. (or maybe go anyway)
I've emailed the band, promoters, ticket outlets and anyone else i could think of. Only Ticketmaster replied and said "don't know..sorry".

Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Sorry if i missed something, but where is the confirmation of their big day out appearance? All ive noticed is two guys saying that it was on New Zealand news...
Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Well the official 'First announcement' on the BDO website is usually in September/October...but everyone knows via tv/newspapers/etc who the main headline act is gonna be. for example, back in 2003, everyone knew metallica was gonna headline the 2004 BDO after they announced their tour. And since NZ media have interviewed Danny carey and adam jones...who have confirmed they're doing Big day out...well then I guess we can pretty much be sure it's going to happen.
