The word in Vegas was that they weren't very good and to skip it, so that's what we did. I didn't even bother to look them up and hear some samples. So take that for what its worth. More pre-gaming time!

If either of those bands were going to be at any other show I'm sure they would've advertised that, hmm? Are there any rumors/clues to anyone that MIGHT be opening any of the other Tool shows?

I am with you on Right In Two. I have never seen that song live and I bet it would sound great at The Gorge.

Thank you. Yeah going to skip it. Heading to Starbucks to get 2 large hot coffee cups. I have a bottle of red wine that I put in those cups so I can drink on the walk to the venue and in the security line. Hahaha yes I am an alcoholic

I haven't heard anything, but I don't think we'll see either Primus or the Melvins as the support. My guess at this point is there will be no support act.

Hasn't Adam said before that they usually just throw whoever is available on there a couple weeks before the tour?
Whens the last time they tour with no opener? I really don't see that happening unless somehow miraculously the album did drop around this tour.

so did nobody jump on Glen Helen or what?
I pulled center orch 2, AA, and PASSED, because I've already seen everyone on the bill and have decent seats for the SJ/Sac shows.
I would've bought them anyway...but I didn't want to see the same setlist 3x in 5 days.

I'm working at the NASCAR race in Sonoma the same weekend as Glen Helen. ARRRGH! So many conflicts this summer already.

San Diego 2014 was the last show I saw without an opener. Tucson '12 and Vegas '07 are on the list as well...

Hey, this is my first post here. I've been into Tool since about 2009, so I got tickets for the Rosemont (Chicago) show at the All State Arena and it will be my first time seeing them! They're nosebleed seats in Section 210, I got on as soon as they went on sale and they were the best available. But they shouldn't be too bad, I was in Section 211 for Green Day at the same venue in 2013 and they were decent seats.
I hope they bring "Lateralus" back into the setlist. It's my favorite Tool song and from live videos/bootlegs I've seen an incredible part of the show with the drum duel with the opening band drummer (if applicable) and the loud gong hit in the last verse.
I'm pretty sure there will be an opening band. Aren't Tool's headlining shows about 1 hour, 50 minutes including the intermission the last few years? In that case, if there wasn't an opening band, the show would end before 10:00 since the show time start is 8:00. Seems unlikely, right?

Welcome. There will be an opener. Tool typically takes the stage around 9pm local time. Show will end around 11pm probably a little before.

But they shouldn't be too bad, I was in Section 211 for Green Day at the same venue in 2013 and they were decent seats

What do people recommend, floor seats or lower concourse? I'm getting tickets for them in either hershey PA(giant center) or fairfax VA (eaglebank arena)?

Lower concourse right behind the sound and lighting board or row 1-5 on the floor. I have had further back floor seats and they weren't as good as a couple rows up with the stage front and center. Full view of the amazing light show and sound is always good. I am assuming you are buying stubhub kind of tickets, if so get great seats.

Hershey seems to have much better prices than VA on StubHub. I'll be at VA and hoping to get off work for Hershey, which will be tricky. Anything to keep me off Randall's island festival. It's been 11 long years. Way too long.

What about section floor seats to the right of stage(if looking at it head on) and 16 rows back? Would that be better than side lower concourse about half way back?

Think it, analyze it, over think it.
It's fun thinking about when and where to see Tool
I prefer either first ten rows floor or lower level, rows 2-5 (just above the heads on the floor) for the first few side sections. For some reason, seats aren't that expensive for Hershey on StubHub.

I'm going to bring a basketball to the next Tool show that I go to for DC to sign.
Get a pick-up game started in the pit.

they're all good seats. You've seen the videos. Isn't a bad seat in the house. I say you see them from 5-6+ different perspectives. See them up close once so you can watch the guys… maybe once from adams side and once closer to justin. See them from far back & marvel at the event as a whole… just go, dude.

Woof.
Fair point, but I love hemming and hawing. Indecisiveness, where I live.
To the extreme that I bought a Hershey seat, only as insurance if I don't want to stand at Randall's island for five hours to see them (and a good one popped up on TM!). I'm driving to DC anyway, so Hershey would just be a sweet bonus on the drive back.
Either case it's win win, cuz Tool is back in the NE!

I posted this on Reddit but the threads were old so I wanted to share my hunch of what the San Bernardino show is going to be. i think its the curveball that blairs been hinting towards. and it does make me think that could mean a release of new material. i have a feeling he revealed the most info about this in the dec 2016 newsletter.
"I take it that you already know about the rumors floating around of a major Tool show in 2017. Needless to say, at this time, I CANNOT confirm anything as being official."
ok not much there but then the next paragraph came this...
"Q: “Curveball, curveball, what ball, where is the ball?” BMB: All I can say is that I am standing in the batter’s box kicking at the dirt near home plate. I’ve got my helmet adjusted and have tightened my gloves. I’m wearing both shin and elbow guards, and there’s lots of pine tar on my piece of lumber. Although the pitcher can reach speeds in the 90s, I’m still looking for that wicked curve…"
I forgot about this until today and of course when i saw the first picture they posted of the show i thought it was a baseball diamond. It makes for a good basis to my theory that it will indeed be a very important show that is going to be much different as expected, or maybe not so much to the ones who are correct.

Except for that part where it's not a baseball diamond and there's no connection.

It looks like one to me. I don't play sports though. From the point of view of a musician its certainly similar enough to a baseball field to make me think of it looking like one, not really all that far fetched. I don't care either way I am not attending and im patient

The APC show in St. Louis was a good time. They started super strong but somehow toward the end the show seemed to be lacking some energy. Maybe it was just me getting tired in my advanced age. Two things worth mentioning. In 20 Tool shows and about a half dozen APC shows I have Never heard MJK be so talkative. Seems like he's having a good time. Also he dedicated Gravity to Carina Round. Anyone have any idea what that might be about?
