Re: 2007/01/31 - Melbourne, AUS - Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Venue sucked. I was very let down. The band was great, there's no denying that. But on the hill (and later in the walkway where we could ACTUALLY SEE) it just felt like watching from a distance as opposed to being absorbed by the experience.

I brought my sister, and the only thing she saw was the back of everyone's shirts until I took her across to one of the walkways to get a clear view of the band. On the hill, she literally could not see the stage, and she's not that short either.

Vibe of the crowd sucked. There was a lukewarm response to most songs. I don't get why people didn't just sit down, which is what you're supposed to do at SMMB. People weren't even moshing or anything so what was the point of standing? After a while, the heels of my feet went numb from the angle the hill is on.

I'm guessing that the show the gold section experienced compared with general admission was very, very different.
