that is amazing. you have some very good points, and i think too many people take it for granted that Tool's lyrics / visuals are all symbolic. sure, Tool is a very symbolic musical force. perhaps some of the greatest metaphors seen in rock music have been created by Tool. but, as ive seen certain forum members' advocate, not everything has a symbolic meaning. i may be wrong, but i think it is Freud who favors the ideas of symbolism in dreams and whatnot, and Jung who believes that not everything has a specific meaning. i have heard many times that the members of Tool are followers of Jung, which explains for a lot of the openness and freedom in Tool's musical and visual interpretations.
