Tool would be nothing if they had.....a normal rock drummer.

And to all the people who talk about Jones' creativity....didn't Adam once admit that Justin writes most the riffs.

I know I write all the riffs in my band and I am the bass player. Not saying that matters, but it's likely Jones just "plays to" what Justin is playing.
