Re: 2006/06/07 - Berlin, GER - Arena Treptow

Small glitches:

Big fuckup from danny at the beginning of lateralus, started wayyy too early.
Guitar wasn't loud enough during the ending of 46&2
Justin's bass was at times merky and no way near loud enough up to the end of lateralus.

Overall Berlin was like most of the other shows on this tour: mediocre. On one hand, you have a band playing at their tightest with a very good new album but this isn't enough to compensate the small variations in the setlist or the fact that they've been playing very weak venues.

The Arena was just one big garage. Forget about seeing them anywhere close if you just weren't tall enough. The Hamburg venue was a basketball court (perhaps the best venue though as at least it had some nice seats for those who didn't make it to the frontline). And then you have the open air venues like Lisbon, which just aren't cut out for Tool. Hopefully they'll finally get a decent venue in the UK, but whoever is booking Tool is doing there best to put them in some of the sleeziest places.

Fortunately, Maynard suggested they'd be back before the end of the year, which I doubt as the US tour will be in full steam then, but I'd expect Tool to do their second european leg in spring 2007 with way better visuals (these winamp visuals just don't cut it), more diverse setlists and perhaps venues which are fit for concerts.
