I think in the context it was used he meant "unfortunate".
If he had said "No ticks, no pot? ...homosexual!", then I guess that could possibly offend someone. But the statement would have made absolutely no sense and would probably mean he has Tourette Syndrome. And I can assure you I have no problem with anyone's sexual orientation because it is none of my business.
