Gnosticism seems right on, as far as it goes. However, as a philosophy major, I've noticed that as soon as you really learn about a new school of thought then you start seeing references to it everywhere. It's always there, you just have to know what to look for. I know once I began studying buddhism i saw hints of it everywhere, including in Tool's music. I'm not saying that Tool has nothing to do with Gnosticism; to the contrary, its actually fairly likely. I just don't think that the message they are trying to spread is strictly that. I think that they try to reach people through a wide variety of means.
