I think he says:
"So I lay this way
Like an apparition had
Hit me, cryin out..." etc etc

I don't think "I light his way like an aborigine" or "an apparition" makes much sense.
Given that this verse follows the bit about the alien doing a wicked jump and floating above him ("a-babba-nabba"), it almost makes sense that the hero drops to the ground (ala hit the fucking deck) and stayed there. Hence, later, the alien has to sooth him with spooning and, still later, helps him up:

"So he took my little hand
And invited me right in..."
