This is one of my favorite songs. I have listened to it over and over and each time visualize an exotic scene of belly dancers, caravans, colorful tents, and whirling dervishes.

You're refering to the percussion part, right? It's quite similar to a part of "Right in Two".

I like your visualization. You have a lot of imagination. :)

Prop me up beside the jukebox if i die. Lord i wanna go to heaven but i dont wanna go tonight. Fill my boots up with sand. Put a stiff drink in my hand.

I have to say that this is the most incredible song i have ever heard. To be in that crowd that they played it live for i would be a changed person. I cannot sttop listening to this song.

Yeah, only it's a damn shame about the mixed clapping at the end when it goes to track 4.

The end of Third Eye overwhelmes me as well. Awesome crowd.

it's hard for me to get past the fact that it's a mix of about 4-5 seperate recordings done over the tour though. i think i would put it on a whole different level if this was a singular recording.

Is that so? How did you get that information? I never figured it was "assembled".

i agree that is sounds amazing, but i like the aenima version better.

I have to disagree with you. The album version is amazing, and even though this version is a "compilation" if oyu will, it is still one of the most incredible songs i have ever heard, this blows the album version away to me.

this song is very good, don't get me wrong. it's hard for me to get past the fact that it's a mix of about 4-5 seperate recordings done over the tour though. i think i would put it on a whole different level if this was a singular recording. i think that is what keeps the album version above this one for me.

I'm with the last two. The poster of the "compilation" comment has proved himself to be not the brightest bulb in the box from some of his other posts as well, imo of course.

When I was browsing bootlegs on the Collective Unconscious, yes, many of Salival's tracks come from completely different concerts. I forget which though.

I THINK (keyword, think) "Part of Me" was recorded August 13th, 1998: Morrison Colorado. That's the only one I remember off the top of my head.

Third Eye wasn't on that night's setlist.

You Lied was on the setlist, but vocally is was different. (pitches, tone, etc)

"help/do you know the meaning of life/can I assist you" intro -> Merkaba. Merkaba itself was completely different, faded into Sober.

Pushit was on the list as well, but his opening speech was slightly different (same wording, different tone and more upbeat), and vocally was different.

Pushit was recorded in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 18th, 98.

The version of pushit on salival is most certainly not from the 98-8-18 Vegas show.

intersting indeed

i see the aenima version as a song with someone to blame.
i see the salival version as a song with someone to forgive.

And you'd be right. I got that from a bad source.

Damn, I don't even have the 1998-8-18 concert. My bootlegs skip from 8-13 (which in itself has an awesome version of Pushit, as well as one of the few live recordings of No Quarter) to 8-25.

Yeah that show is the one where Maynard was dressed up as a reverand. And he talked A LOT. I've been dying to find out the date for the version on salival.

What the fuck are you talking about?

ITS ALL YOU ESURIENT! Thinking that you live in a world with puppies and rainbows... you are living in fairy land! Look at you! Your little kitty display picture making me want to go rub its little belly. Well guess what? That thing is a wild fucking beast and it will tear your arm off!

But on a serious note, that guy did get mad in another thread because of pointless posts and how people aren't contributing to the site. What a contradictory douche bag.

It's like I explained on the other thread: if we don't have a fresh influx of new material from the artists this forum was built upon, we're generally going to stop picking over what we've already picked over for years and start interacting with one another on a more meaningful and openminded level.

I agree with you Rivek. New material or not, we will become attached to the rails that is the spam train and we will still run rampant over the rest of the boards. There will be breaks of it of course with people actually discussing the topic's...topics, but since this is a community one of the keys is communication and interaction.

What is the point of having a sterile little collaboration of thoughts on a single song if you do not know the people you are having such discussions with? I think this period of time where there is not a whole lot new to post or say, actually builds the community the strongest. Friendships grow and we get little peaks into the minds of the people with whom we'll later be debating the meanings of the new Tool album with.

It's the little stuck up assholes who just can't relax a little and take a forum for what it is that will just complain during these times.

Whenever I say spam on a forum, I'm generally not referring to the "HEY GO HERE AND SEE ME GET NAKED ON CAMERA, I JUST TURNED 18 AND WANT TO SHOW YOU WHAT I'VE GOT!" type stuff, I'm usually referring to what goes on in most of the threads.

I guess its like the meat SPAM. Some people live off of it while others think its just some kind of disgusting paste. It is all indeed in the eye of the beholder.

Seriously though, if money troubles persist I'm going to strongly suggest that my girlfriend start doing naughty things on webcam to support me.

And by strongly suggest, I mean use chloroform.
...
LOL nah. I actually care about the one I'm with now. Shame I didn't think of that with the last one though...

Perhaps you'd be typing that message to me from jail as opposed to the comforts of your own home. And instead of having a new girl to worry about, it'd be your cell mate "Big-Banana".

There are those Buns of Steel videos floating around on the interwebs somewhere. You should check them out before this girl gets old and you decide on the chloroform thing.

I liked this version, the way they re-arranged it etc. for a long time, but anymore I get kinda bored with it. I much prefer the Aenima version these days.
