maynards given name at birth was james....jimmy is him...the song is about him and how he felt when his mom had a stroke and was paralyzed when he was 11.

Sadly, although I have always loved every tool song I ever heard, it was only last year that I became obsessed and listen to them constantly, have bought all their CD's and finally seen the band live. Please forgive my dumb question.
