It seems to be about suicide to me now. I recently lost someone who commited suicide. It seems to me that this song is about someone being hurt, and killing themself while imagining killing their loved one.

yeah it could be I guess. There are probably multiple meanings to this song but I can see how you could interpret it as being suicide.
