Smokebox

We all know the default Ænima cover as the "smokebox," but I was wondering if anynone knows where that name came from? I checked the FAQ and they just say, "properly known as the 'Smokebox.'"

Any ideas?

Ya..I never thought of it as that, but I think remebering reading that first on Rollingstone.com on a review of AEnema.

yeah they call it that but I dont know if it has any relevance to what it is supposed to represent. I get a couple of different thoughts when I look at this. Either the box is the portal through which we pass through on our way to "heaven" and the eyes are us moving towards it, or the box is a toilet of sorts sucking all the dirt away. The latter would go along with the theme of cleansing. actually, either would.

I think the term 'smokebox' is kinda fruity. It looks more like white flames coming out of the 'box.' Maybe that F--A--Q is messing with your heads. The 'smokebox' looks more like a 'flamebox' to me.
