Humans are mentioned only once.
This was hard to figure out, since it seems to be an ancient cut in our minds:

We are both the monkeys and the angels.
__________________________________________________ ______

The angels represent the Ephemeral aspect, only observing and not stepping in to handle the situation and cutting by wondering.

The monkeys represent the Material aspect, Thus cutting by force, and acting upon it.
But this aspect is handling the situation by brute force.

until these come one. We are left with only handling the situation in a raw violent fashion, and at the same time futilely watching and seeing its wrong, but not doing anything about it, since the angel part is ephemeral and does act.

__________________________________________________ ___________
Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused

here it is shown that the angel aspect also cut's but only with thoughts.
Here maynard gives us some definitions, by their diemetrical-opposition.
So Puzzled and amused would be opposites.

Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused

This is then the angels question. But they lack the ability to answer it, since This ability lies with the Acting-material-monkey aspect.

Don't these talking monkeys know that
Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there's one you're bound to divide it,
Right in two

The monkey side doesn't bother thinking to much. they just act out upon the angels question. but usuall in a violent way, since the monkey side loves moving and cutting Material stuff.

Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused
Father blessed them all with reason
And this is what they choose
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground

Baffled would then again be the opposit aspect of Confused, and vice versa.
Remember this song cuts everything in two.

Silly monkeys give them thumbs,
They forge a blade, and where there's one
They're bound to divide it,
Right in two
Right in two

etc etc.

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground
Silly monkeys give them thumbs
They make a club and beat their brother down
How they survive so misguided is a mystery
Repugnant is a creature who would squander
The ability to live tonight in heaven
Conscious of his fleeting time here

here it switches with monkey verse coming first. Havent quite figured that out yet. Please elaborate.

Cut it right all, right in two

Fight over cloud, over earth, over sky
Fight over life, over blood, over air and light
Fight over love, over sun, over another
Fight for each other, for the ones who are rising

Angels on the sideline again
Been so long with patience and reason
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end

Cut it right all, right in two
Right in two

Right in two

Sorry I didn't interpret it to the end. But it didn't seem that there was any mention of angels being the diemetrical opposite of monkey in our Humaness.

I'd have to say that after seeing many odd and far out ideas that made no sense by you, this one is good and makes some applicable sense. I suppose that's a compliment from a guy that rarely gives them. =-)

Im an idea-generator personality type. Most of 'em are bogus lol.
My type of personality depends strongly upon Clever dudes shooting and maiming my ideas astray ideas.

What if the monkeys in the song are actually not supposed to be a part of us but more of like the way the apes were portrayed in "Planet of the Apes"?
In this case they would represent not our unevolved ancient past but our future which can now be changed since we're aware of it.
Actually, I'm not going anywhere with this. Just thought it was stupid enough to get it out of my head somehow.
I really like what you said and it makes much sense... to me (I'd have to be really arrogant to assume the position of authenticator of all things claimed sensical).
