haha!!! I flipped by mtv for the first time, in years that is. This was awhile ago and what small glimpse I had was hilarious! I was thinking about how they stoped playing music.....I turned it on and mtv themselves had a commercial (I forget exactly how they said it) but the commercial basicly said "mtv. not playing music anymore!" And it was funny because the voice was saying it as though mtv are dumbasses because they don't play mtv anymore. Why don't they change the MTV title.....

Girly Animals Yelling ?(thats all they seem to do when i pass by that channel, girls yelling at some host)

yeah! I don't see anything wrong, obscene, gross, tasty, smelly, deep, abnormal, unorthodox about that qoute! A matter of fact now that I think about it there is nothing better than a immense amount of censorship about human relations, activities, nature in a democratic society where the constitution says we have the right to free speech! Oh wait, how could I be so dumb!?!? Oh, that's right we have the right to freedom of speech! They forgot to write in the constitution that that freedom would not go without sacrifices, censorship and religous dogmatic people not letting your freedom be heard! OPPS! I guess we can't really hide behind the first admendment! God, I hate these religous freaks that control television (then again if they did'nt television might contain more stupidity than it already does?!?!)

haha! when you said "snuff film" I was thinking "what the fuck are you talking about?" Then I remembered that guy truly went through all that pain and suffering from whipping and shit. You have a good point. Bullshit. And on top of it kids can go see a rated R movie with lots of blood and violence and sexual inuendos. Under the cover suggesstive sex scenes. But as soon as a cock is filmed inside a chick then it's rated X. Personally I would rather let my kids read a porno magazine than watch violent films! I mean these religous nuts are fuckin preaching hate and violence, but love (or another word for love is sex) is explicit to a minor. What a bunch of fucking tools!!!
I mean we are living in the modern world that is not what was 2000 years ago. Lets get some beliefs up to date according to all the fuckin bullshit going on in this world?

anyway, your right, they will censor the beliefs of other people while showcasing their own. it pisses me off

Well, it's sort of off track. But only sort of. I mean to say that religous dogma is definately a huge part of censorship. Sex and murder is bad so says god in the bible so therefore it will be censored. Same with swearing. But in other religous countrys, most don't go against some of the main beliefs that started their country in the first place. England for instance, they can swear and say "fuck" on television without censorship (well England did'nt write a first admendment right in conjunction with a declaration of independence.) I believe their laws say they can have only so many instances of each word in such and such amount of time (half hour show, hour long show, etc.) As for showcasing, that topic is big enough to make anyone sick except a religous laughing maniac. I mean G.Bush totally used religion to get votes! And especially for votes of the southern half of the country.
If you don't have their beliefs, you are wrong. You are an atheist, you are a disgrace. BANISH YE THEY SHALT! What ever, you know what I mean by that?!?!
I feel more free now that im not conforming by going to church every sunday (or in my case I use to go every now and then on wednesday nights. Fuck, those were actually fun times (not really!) Huge ass church. Lots of places and upstairs to explore. Goof around outside. Tell the pastor to fuck off when he saw you goofing around in the halls.) Anyways, I completly understand why you could be pissed off.

As an added bonus that pisses me off so much more! This link:
http://yourgoingtohell.com/
I thought religous people are not suppose to judge others! This guy likes to tell people they are going to hell because they have different beliefs than him.
Shit, my friend was wearing a celtic cross once and this guy said to him "does'nt matter, you are still going to hell either way." God what a bunch of stupid fucks!

it makes more sense to me to LIMIT swear words on tv than to ban them for good. and how is saying "fuck you!" worse than watching some murder scene on tv? (its a common thing too!) i don't even see the awfulness of swear words, they are just words that express your feelings in a stronger way! am i right?

that site... that fucking site.... thats exactly what i hate so much!!!!!!!!! them thinking their beliefs are the supreme belief and ours are so below them.
AS FOR GAYS-- you love who you love, gender isn't a factor, if their is a god, wouldn't he want that?
and what makes them think what they say is right?! its just a fuckin scare tactic to convert people. and the worst part is it works!
they need to learn to just fucking live life and enjoy it, why stress over following "the lords" rules? enjoy your fricken life and if you believe in all of that stuff keep it to yourself and if you DON'T keep it to yourself let other people share their opinions too. don't disregard them because YOU believe otherwise. I FUCKIN HATE PEOPLE LIKE THAT!
urrg!!!!

when people call me "aethiest" cuz i don't believe what they believe, it makes me mad too. calling me aethiest is just labeling me. they don't even fucking know me!
one time my good friend sadly told me that i was going to hell and he would miss me. and he was dead serious too. made me so mad.

Bush did use religion to get votes. of course i'm pretty sure all politicians would do anything to get our votes. its all about image.

The worst of them all are those priests. ya know? the ones that scream about how horrible homosexuality isand how you'll go to hell. and then they turn around and molest little boys or end up actually being in a gay relationship. they KNOW its not bad, they KNOW that love is love, but just so that their religion's IMAGE stays good they hide it.

well damn, i'm sorry, that was more a like an angry ramble then just my opinion. hope ya don't mind!

As for swear words. Yes they are just a stronger way of expressing oneself. Love is love and religion likes to supress love they are either afraid of or do not believe in. Sure dick was made to go into pussy but whatever, if there is love in a gay relationship then so let it happen. As the once wise sociologist said that labeling someone is not making a problem go away but that you are still creating and supporting the problem. Criminals won't go away if you label someone as a criminal! Common sense? No, but it still makes sense! Our justice system is not about to stop crime nor does it want to.We are deskilled to let the law enforcement have control therefore having law enforcement really does create more crime. Back before there were police around the 1830s people took crime into their own hands so most likely less people directly committed crimes against another because the outlaw figured (and most likely) the victim had a gun. As for aethiesm. I myself consider myself more agnostic (someone who believes in something, but not religion or the religous god.) I just believe god is more so the semi invisible force around us, in the universe that makes things exist/happen. By the way I don't fanaticly shape my life around this labeled belief but merely ackknowledge the fact that it seems, sure like a materialistic view in the sense that alot of materalistic people believe in only what they see; but that religion is even in more so in this materialistic catergory because no one proboly ever saw god and without knowing how a planet could be formed figured it was built by hands so obviously it had to be this divine being that could not be on the planet to create it because the planet was not created yet! duh! So they figured they could understand the idea of the planets existence by putting how it could be into a image everyone has seen. Man. So compared to this very advanced scientific modern day we live in, religion is very outdated. And so agnostic is basicly the same as an aethiest person who does'nt believe in god because agnostics don't believe in god to. But still, they are both labels and I still do not prefer to go by either one. And hey, thanks for your opinion, angry ramble, ranting raving, whatever I may call it. It's always nice to hear.

Force is the only way their religion is as big today as it is. By going to other cultures and "converting" them. More or less it was really like "threatening."
"Converting" is a nicer word for "Force." And "threatening" is the initial action in conjunction with the other two.

right! there have been so many times in history where religion has been USED and not FELT. religion is so aftenly used to gain something. trust, support, fear, money, you name, religion has been used to get it!
and thtas not what religion is about, religion should be your personally belief in how things were made, whatever comforts you. religion is used to fill the gaping question in our mind that drives everyone crazy. agnostic.. i've never heard of that. hmm, well what you explained makes sense to me. it seems (and this isn't a stereotype) that people with religious beliefs such as christian, cathlolic, and baptist tend to force their opinions and think their opinions are some how BETTER. but i have not once met a buddhist, aethiest, or in your case agnostic, none of them have ever tried to "sway" me to believe in their opinions. these religions are actually RELIGIONS, actually belifs, and i respect them for it.
i cannot respect someone who has been brainwashed by their religion so that thyey cannot open their mind to ANYTHING else at all.
and i feel bad for these kids, who's parents have force fed them christian beliefs and not given them a chance to expirience many religions and pick for themselves. how is that fair to them?

i just read an article about this new christian get-together called BattleCry. thousands of teenagers get together in a big stadium where the organizer first talks about their "enemies" such as feminists and homosexuals, these kids chant and dance and scream the lords name. they believe that christians are becoming soft and that they need a fighting church! they sell shits and shit with the devil laying bloody and beat with a bat. HYPOCRITES!!! they can promote violence but they have an absolute TANTRUM when someonesings about violence in a song. is it just me or is there NO logic in that at all?

and on a side not** your right, religion is outdated, and i'm REALLY tired of them trying to be "HIP" to attract kids. like a dance video for jesus and an I love jesus soundtrack which supposedly is WHAT ALL THE KIDS ARE LISTENING TO! according to the commercial.

GOD (not really hahahaha!) You could get me ranting and raving all night about this shit in your post! It is by far that the alt beliefs you mentioned do not force their thoughts onto others. It is more or less they state "there is no god" They are adament on that belief but do not try and manipulate your mind into that belief. I know a friend, one of my closest friend, he use to "have" to go to church every sunday, then once said "you know what? fuck it im not going!" This friend of mine is also from a very religous family who would also "banish" him for not "believing" in god. As for BattleCry, sounds like a bunch of hyprocrites, idiots, contradictious bastards who know what religion is on the outside but does not what peace, future, release, love, and........I lost my thought in this spiraling madness of religion, ones place into a society based around a secret society, religion a cult, and escaping from the mass of people who do not know how evil they really are!

YES! religion IS contradictions! unfortunately they have built up so many followers that no one has the sense to stop it, or at least try. hopefully someday some guy doing his daily worship at church will be thinking and say "wait, what the fuck am i doing? i don't agree with this?" open his mind to other things and get out of the fog that is religion.

hey, go ahead and rant! i'm all ears. or wait, eyes actually! haha
well good for your friend, i'm glad he can open up his mind despite his parents forcing belifs on him!
YES! religion IS contradictions! unfortunately they have built up so many followers that no one has the sense to stop it, or at least try. hopefully someday some guy doing his daily worship at church will be thinking and say "wait, what the fuck am i doing? i don't agree with this?" open his mind to other things and get out of the fog that is religion.

Just came to think of, how religion, esp Christianity has somehow hijacked spirituality from people...u don't own your own soul, even. To sit and listen to some priest ranting about sins and condemnation and eternal fire, and how life will be better after death if we only chastise ourselves enough during lifetime... It's not only tragic, it's infuriating ! I can't say that I have been to church a lot, I was labeled "Child of satan" by "our" priest in my early teenages, and have gladly worn that tag, saved me from lotsa stupid nonsense, hah. I've known christians who have had a very open mind, but still in the end are left like these halleluja-kockoos... It's sad. I don't understand it. It jsut feels totally void of any spirituality, to me. And compassion, and love, and everything else they seem to be claiming is a virtue to them... I mean, those are good things, and it's odd that it can end up in such a barren landscape?!

like the lyrics in 10000 days.
"How are they going to enlighten you if they can't even hold a candle to your face"
And religion will rob experience, self taught lessons from you. Life experience so become a mental vegatable. It's like their philosophy is really "better safe than sorry" or "don't go outside your comfort zone." Lets see out of everything I can think of they say not to do I have proboly learned more about myself from doing them all except for adultery and murder. God damnit! I'll use gods name in vain(sp?) I have a sense humor so why would'nt god have one and think its funny using his name in vane since he created me in the first place right? Since there is evil, god created evil. Can't have evil without good and vice versa. Afterall evil is another word for "scary."

And talk about wasting your energy on stupid things... "use his name in vain".... This is why I got into this huge argument with this priest, it was stupid to the max... He forbade me to say Satan, cause that meant I was summoning the Dark Prince... I mean....hello.... lol What about intention, that means nuthing, obviously... Stupid point to make, nuthing really to argue about, but it taught me something about the church. It's a all just bureucracy (however that is spelled). All in all, they are all about forbidding and telling us what not to do, but what is it we shoudl do ?

why would i want to worship someone who demands all these little thigns so i don't enjoy life? sounds to me like so called "god" is a little full of himself huh?

religion doesn't let you learn from your mistakes thats for sure. if "good" really loved us he would let us make these choices on our own. following his rules makes for a pretty linear life.

Like Tori sings...
" God, sometimes you just don't come thru,
do u need a woman to look after you ?
You make pretty daisies pretty daisies
Love I gotta find what you're doing about things
Here a few witches burning
Gets a little toasty here
I gotta find why you always go when the wind blows
Tell me you're crazy maybe then I'll understand
You got your 9 ironin the back seat
Just in case
Heard you're gone south well
Babe you love your new 4 wheel
I gotta find why you always go when the wind blows"

The worst part though, is that it justifies people who like to judge others. One of my best friends (who has periods of assholiness), likes to be married when she gets kids, because she does not want them to be illegitimate. I have never married because it seems like an empty institution to me, and me and my man have found other ways of confirming our love, for 15 years. For instance our kids. And each to his own, I think weddings can be quite beautiful and moving. I talked to her about getting married though, just as a legal procedure, and she says to me; " but well, your kids will still be illegitimate". So my children would be less legitimate because I haven't taken a wow to a God that I dont believe in, than those born in several different marriages, that all ended in divorce? ummm, something escapes me... Why would my choices affect my kids, at all ? They are their own. Naah, christianity has been an institution long enough, we need other standards... like real freedom and equal rights, no matter what.

yeah, i totally agree with you. love is love and i don't need a god to verify that. that also kinda goes along with gay people. love is love, if god doesn't approve of it then that totally contradicts what christians say "god loves everybody|" umm no, acording to you he doesn't love gay people

Well, yeah... They need to make up their mind about whether the christianity is a dead religion, that does not evolve anymore, a fixed set of dogma, or if it can move beyond the fixation to ancient rules and go for the essential message in the writings. I have little hope though, heh.
It says somewhere in the bible that gayness is an abomination and so shall it remain. The change will not come within the church, it will take for people to take possession of their faith and do it for themselves. Decide that it's time to move on. It's cosy to be a part of something powerful, like the church... and groups are strengthened by someone beeing left on the outside, that's the way it works, add that little fear of beeing an outcast unless u adapt.

good points! Religion can give a false sense of power. How can your kids be illegitimate? And how does that even sound, fair, nice, reasonable, and rational?
So if you children are less legitimate because you hav'nt taken a vow to a god you don't believe in, then in otherwords god is violent, forceful and we are all slaves to this needy bastard who wants the most amount of votes (can we now say god was made up as a story by man because every aspect of this god we realize; man already is such?) If I ever get married I want it in the church of satan! Only because it sounds "bad" when it is NOT!

This guy is a evil religous tool running for president. DO NOT be fooled by his "innocent" for the people looks in his photos (I can see that evil intention behind.) And just scroll down and look at some of the comments. People are like "I'll vote for you because you support abortion and you don't support gay marriages!"
And this dumbass is like "i'll vote for you cause you have a badass song on your profile. " IDIOT!
And I see lots of religous bullshit on this page.

and this bullshit "Thank you so much for adding me. I truly appreciate all you've done for the pro-life community. God bless you. "
Whoever posted that has alot to learn about life. I mean there is a difference between pro-life and legalized abortion to allow kids to have the best for them, I.E. if a mother or father can't support the child, well you don't know who the parents are that will adopt and raise your child. They could end up doing a even shittier job than you becoming a parent at 14 and working 2-3 shitty jobs 6 days a week with enough time to change a diaper, say no to that party while knowing they'll go because you won't be around anyways, and while your parenting only last a couple minutes before you down a pint of vodka and pass out because life is to depressing anyways! So you ask, what is worse than this? I don't know, child abuse (physically, mental, molestation, etc.)

Don't vote for this religous tool! F

Here gaymarriages are legal, and so r abortions, largely, depending on how many weeks pregnant the mother is, and it's up to the mother to decide.
I've seen the controversy in the states though, and it's upsetting.
We r lucky, or lucky might be the wrong word, this is of course somethign people have conciously worked for and acchieved, but the political power of the church has not ever been so great here (perhaps thanks to the commies , hah...).
It's more a spiritual thing.

I think it may slowly start to fade. I mean out of all my friends, and my closest being about 8 friends. Non of them base their lives aroudn religion nor do I see them forcing it on their future children (partially because they either gave up religion because it was forced on them or because they did'nt see anything in it.)
I mean to say that it seems a larger group of people my age and a bit younger and a bit older (I am 21 years of age) do not seem as connected to religion. Although I do know someone who gave up being a singer in my band to go on a mission! As these kids around my age have kids of their own I see it not being "passed" as much. Thank god (hahahahaha) Thank god he did give us a way out and it is called "reasoning"!!!!!! Reasoning that religion is bullshit and it works no longer and since we have the rationale to realize this.....it's all good. shit im feeling kind of buzzed off this whiskey. peace.

I get a sense of understanding. You say it is more spiritual because people have concously worked for it. Sounds more democratic than this democratic government in the states! It is interesting because I have always felt I don't fit in here in the states. My views of society reside more around europe which is still where a strong amount of my blood from 3 generations ago reside, but I feel more in tune with it (not to sound, whats the word egotistical, arrogant, I don't know.) What I mean is that democracy in the states is not the democracy true definition.

example1: second admendent says we have the right to bear arms. Well, we dont!
Because to bear arms means to hold or carry arms. Well, guess what, you can't legally bear arms on the streets unless you got a concealed weapons permit which is hard to obtain in some states. And not to mention, I don't carry a gun around my own house thus I dont bear arms around my own house nor do I on the streets because a) why would I around my house? latter, it's illegal as fuck in this fascist quick to shoot, police state we are in, you don't throw your arms up in submission in 1 second when they realize you have a gun, you are dead.

Example2: first admendment. freedom of speech. they forgot to mention you have the freedom of speech at the cost of lawsuits, censorship, angry religous freaks waving their contradictory fists. Now, correct me if I am wrong but don't most europeon countrys have more freedoms (and speech especially) than the USA? And they don't have admendments created around the foundation of their country?

And lastly, if you don't mind my asking, what country are you from?

I am from Finland, no, I don't mind u asking. :)
Actually, with spiritual, though, I meant that Christianity still owns that part of people, it's the norm for what religion or any spiritual activity should be, and still forms the basis for moral judgements such as that of my kids. These are private matters though. It's far more subdued here than in the states, I get the feeling of, actually we are rather secularised and any spiritual belief is considered somewhat irrational, officially. The church has no say in official matters, mostly.
(Is it true that they don't teach Darwins evolutionary theories in some states or is this just one of those urban myths ? lol)

I have not ever been to the states, but we can't help but get a lot of information, mostly from the media of course, since u guys are a such a big power internationally.
It would seem to me that we are more free, here, and guard our freedom of speech more vigorously than u do. There are very seldom lawsuits, and openness on all matters concerning the state is monitored and scrutinised on a regular basis. Of course our system isn't perfect either.

As for weapons, our laws are far stricter than yours. The common picture people have here about america and your weapons laws is that they are liberal to the verge of insanity...lol Handguns are for example very uncommon here, guns are used for hunting, period. We don't have as many casualties from gunshotwounds here as in the states, I think, but we do find other ways of finishing off each other though... heh

Unfortunately I am not able to answer that question about amendments... Maybe my ignorance has to do with the fact that I don't feel restricted by the way my government acts, and that would be a sign of freedom ? I'm sure some of my countrymen would argue differently. :)

As for our liberal gun laws, there is almost enough guns in this country to let every man, woman, and child own at least one. 200 million+ guns and about 250 million population. Now that is pretty insane! As for lawsuits, it is insane! Some people can't face their own stupidity so it is lawsuit time! Like the woman who sued mcdonalds (and won) because she spilt a hot cup of coffee on her (while driving and while the cup said caution on it.) It is dishonest and taking advantage of the system. And for fucks sake you would have to live under a rock to not know that 99% of people drink coffee hot! Hell I've drank only one cup of coffee in my entire life (insanely gross to me) and I know coffee is hot. In this country you gotta hide your spirituality or be labeled insane or that you need to go to an asylum. Unless of course you are anonymous. It's all fuckin insane and I NEED THE FUCK OUT! Now im venting. But seriously, we have a big problem, two weeks later we forget about it because a whole nother huge problem comes up! For instane when ever we have school shootings no its not like "OHSHIT!!!" it is more like "not another one....." Just had the Virginia tech one last week (monday) and give it to the end of the week everyone in this country will forget any of them ever happened till the next one in about 8 to 18 months. That is when you know the system is turning to shit and it's definately going down the toilet. Gross analogy here, but our system takes to much laxatives and needs more constipation.

oh I love tea! tea is great. I love all kinds of tea but not so much ice tea or whatever it is called. And whenever I go to a coffee shop I get weird looks because I always order a hot chocolate! And speaking of obesity, it is socially acceptable to talk down and put down people who smoke and drink here (I mean for christs sake recently here in the state of Washington where I live you cannot smoke in any businesses including bars!) Anyways, you can put down people for smoking in this country and it is acceptable but when you say something against someone who is overweight then you are cruel and mean and not accepted by the mass of society. It is sickening because being overweight is just as bad as smoking! And by the way about it being more logical to sue for obesity, it has been done! and guess what the results were? "you loose the lawsuit because you were the one that raised that fatty hamburger after hamburger to your mouth everyday of the week." You name a possible lawsuit, and I'll guarantee it most likely has happened! There was even this guy who bought a really exspensive motor home for $2,000,000 and he flipped on the cruise control and crashed it because he thought it was "auto-pilot" and it would steer itself! GOD! STUPIDITY! cruise control is self-titled; it controls the speed you cruise not controls the way you cruise (or that is bad, the way you drive!)
Also, what eexactly do you mean by living abroad? Some ideas I've had that I think would be abroad are that I want to move from the city area. I want to live out in the open, in the forest, no neighbors close by. On the coast 150 miles or so from here. Live near the sand, the water, that windy atmosphere (I love it.) I want acres after acres of land and I love animals so I'll have dozens of dogs so they can roam my land. Anyways, this society sis making everyone insane and I am feeling it. Awhile back I was out cold for three days on my couch; from work, sick as dead from the flu and as soon as I was feeling better, back to work it was. But not even half way through my 30 minute drive to work, I started to feel the peace within me wither away into the thing called "to much traffic and a rush of chaotic people coming and going from work in the evening time. Society; therefore." It's chaotic, and mad and im starting to loose the ability to see the point in it. I give service to thousdans of people all over the country in one day without an exchange of simple conversations like "hello" or "have a nice day" and whats the point? INEEDTOESCAPE!!!INEEDTOSEETHE OBLIVIOUS OCEAN AND TO SEE NOTHING FOR AS FAR AS POSSIBLE!!!

That autopilot thing is funny...lol
It's amazing how you on one hand can be considered totally incompetent by the law, and have no responsibility whatsoever (like that driver) and on the other can be held responsible for just about anything.
Smoking is banned in most public areas in europe, too. I don't really mind. I've never smoked and think it's rather disgusting to come home from the pub in the evening and smell like an ashtray, even if I dont smoke..lol
Living abroad, well, I meant living in another country, in Europe for instance, but why not just change scenery. Living by the sea sounds lovely... *s* I could go on forever about that. Unfortunately I live nowhere near the sea, but I live outside a fairly small city, and we have these open fields around here that I have grown up with, so for a while when I lived in the city and had no access to neither trees or fields I felt pretty bad. I like having some neighbours around though.

Sorry to hear about your beeing unwell, that sucks... :( Take care of yourself, and I dont mean just the body. Do those good things . :)

I've thought about living abroad by what you mean for years now! I love the idea. And although I have yet to travel to europe, it seems so nice. I feel so connected to europe to. And my blood is from europe. not many generations ago most my blood, my relatives immigrated here. I've always figured, if i don't move there, visiting and travel all of europe is an absolute must. Like more essential than, I don't know, my job, my work, hobbies; at least until I experience. I'll go from west, to east, from where I came from to where I came from. From ireland, to england, to germany, then every where nearby north and south.
I'll be fine....

Yeah, it's precious to return to your roots. My living in finland is just wishful thinking presently, I'm afraid....I am a bit more connected to my roots than u perhaps, but still always feel tht it's not enough. Wish I could visit my relatives there more often. The internet and all these new means of communication makes keeping in touch easier though, which is real nice. I also try teach my kids a bit of finnish, so that they in the future may communicate with their relatives over in Finland. There is not an obvious difference in the culture between sweden and finland, but we have a completely different history(whilest finland has a history of recent war, sweden has been blessed with peace for a very long time), which makes for a certain difference in mood, and temper, ***.

England is nice, I've visited a few times and I just find heaps of lovely things there, u really should go. And scotland, breathtaking scenery. I hope to see ireland one day, too, it seems so beautiful.

I would love to visit England, Ireland,Scotland, all of the western countries, but not only those. but also most countries, and your region of europe, scandinavia; Sweden, Finland, Norway. As well as Germany, Romania and those areas. Being connected with your roots is cool. It appears you are more connected to your roots, you teach your children your language....I never had that, nor do I live anywhere near such places. Which is fine, I mean, it is sort of complicated for me because I learn more about my ancestors so I learn more about my roots, then I get a great fascination about it. it's kind of complicated. Anyways, it is always a cherished moment to communicate with your relatives no matter where they live. I saw pictures recently of my grandmother visiting her home country (Azores islands, part of Portugal) and, and it made me wish so badly I could have gone.

Also, my roots are purely finnish, and only a generation away, my parents moved here in the sixties, so my relatives there are pretty close ones. Many in the states do have relatives in europe, right, because that is where people came from, to america ? So you have all these different nationalities in your roots, which makes it difficult to stay in touch with all of it. Naturally. We have some distant relatives in the US that visited finland a few years ago, sadly the woman who kept in touch has now passed away...
I can really relate to that "wishing I was there"-feeling. This is something that seems to become more important as one grows older, at least to me.
