Something about this song always disturbs me.. it makes me very uncomfortable, almost frightens me. I believe it's mostly the music, but Maynard's vocals definitely add to the chill effect. Like a majority of music, I never really pay a whole lot of attention to the lyrics themselves, because I hear vocals in notes, not words. Vocals are simply another musical instrument to me, and I appreciate a good singer like a good guitar player or good sax player. So on this song, the flow of Maynard's vocals simply add another layer to the dreamy, river-like feel of the music. And for these reasons, this song really opens up something inside me that makes me shudder.
