ok uh, for starters, i will be trekking here from new york city...

couple of questions for those familiar with boardwalk hall, since ive never been to atlantic city before...

1) i'm looking for the CHEAPEST, BEST hotel that is VERY CLOSE to boardwalk and the casinos, since i will NOT have a car or anything.....it MUST be within walking distance....

2) um, how long does it take to get from penn station in ny to atlantic city?? or do you think i am better off taking one of those buses that take a load of old people to atlantic city??

armmar

1. Pretty sure there's a Sheraton right next to Boardwalk Hall...I dunno if this is what you're looking for

2. As much as it pains me to say this, take the bus with the old people...The transfers to get to AC are killer

im either taking the bus or driving from nyc...havent decided yet. i know im not stayin in a hotel

undertoes.

there are some pretty nice seats in there.

I checked out the price on Greyhound bueses. It's about a 2.5 hour drive from nyc; about 30 dollars for a two-way ticket. The buses leave and come back every hour, so its not so bad i think

1. it seems to me all hotels that are right on boardwalk hall are insanely expensive (for example, 400 a nite)...i'm looking for sumthing like uh, less than 200 for sure

2. i agree :)

Hey guys...Pretty excited about this show..I have seen a number of concerts down AC and its always a good time..Although, never seen one at the Boardwalk hall..Im pretty sure its next to Trump Plaza and usually a place where they have boat shows, wrestling ect....ANyway for u guys looking for a hotel u should fine rates around 80 bucks right on the boardwalk..Try Trump Plaza,Ceasars, and ballys are all within 3 blocks..Im not sure where your getting 400 a nite..During the week u can stay at anyone of those for around 80 bucks and if u ever gamble there they usually toss a free room ur way..Looks like the place holds 17,000 for concerts so should be pretty awesome looks nice!

The Boardwalk Hall official website says that it seats up to 13,800. Wikipedia says 17,000, but that's probably incorrect.

If you're looking for a cheap hotel you're not necessarily going to find it on the Boardwalk, and definetely not at one of the casinos on a weekend (the show is on a Saturday).

There are quite a few places that are cheap on Atlantic and Pacific Aves, but even these places got more expensive in recent years. They used to be about $40 a night now they're over $100 for a weekend night. Try looking up the Flamingo or Fox Manor Inn. They are major dumps (like almost every hotel/motel off the boardwalk), but are close to everything, you're safe, and are about as cheap as you'll find. They're only one or two blocks from the boardwalk. Depending on what is going on in the city that night you can probably get them for under $150 if you book now.

In short, for a cheap place to stay on a Saturday night you're not going to be looking at a casino or a chain (Howard Johnson, Budget Inn, etc). You'll have to find the locally-run place. And you don't want too stay too far from the Boardwalk. Try to keep it on Atlantic or Pacific Aves. Any web search will turn up these type of places.

Toolband.com says that there is a presale for Tool Army members only on Friday, March 2nd. Tickets will be available for the general public on Saturday, March 3rd.

Based on another post in this forum, there are restrictions on the Tool Army presale. There is a 2 ticket limit and you have to be within a 100 mile radius of the venue.

That's a puzzling development on the Ticketmaster website. We'll have to wait for this to be clarified.

There are about ten shows scheduled prior to the AC show that are not up on Ticketmaster yet. I wonder why the AC show was put up sooner.

I've been to a Hockey Game at Boardwalk Hall. It's a really cool venue. While watching the game, I was actually thinking that the Hall would be a great place for a rock show. Now, we get our chance to test that theory... if only we can get tickets!!

And, BTW, I almost hate to admit it now, but I'm a ToolArmy member. Being a member in no way, shape, or form guarantees you presale tickets. It's just $40 down the drain for the membership. Dont waste the money unless you need one more place to chat about Tool...

Anyone else get the feeling they will just cancel all of the shows in the northeast? I mean, they already played Philly twice (Camden and Tower), and Wilkes-Barre. That's three shows in the area. Then they schedule AC, PSU, and Reading. Seems to me if they are going to flat out cancel any shows it would be the ones within 100 miles of Philly. They have not played entire regions of the country, and have played around here three times already, so I don't see it being a priority.

I'm actually tempted to forget about the tool army presale and just go and grab a good seat off a scalper on ebay. There's going to be seats on the floor and I really can't stand that. As far as I know we have no say on the Tool Army presales on where we want our seats to be so they'll probably give us floor. (I think i sound pretty spoiled)

Section 100s are where I like to see shows from now that this whole seats on the floor is going on.

which seat you taking 15 or 16? i'll bring a lighter to set your hair on fire ;)

congrats on the tickets. Hopefully it'll be a good show.. i can't catch the Mass show (where I'm from) cause it's on a weekday and have a graduate class til 6 taht night. so this show and albany will be the ones i'll hit.

And that's funny 'cause I gave up tickets in that sec/row!

So I'm in 121 now, Row A, Seats 1&2.

I had to randomly take a shit at exactly 9:57 this morning so I think that messed me up a little bit, haha (Sorry if that's TMI)

I wonder how far the stage goes out because it may make the difference between being adjacent/behind the edge of the stage or being in front of the stage.

I'm talking about Section 103. According to the venue's site, it's right in front of the stage (whew) but the auctions seem to be promoting section 104 so maybe that's not good news.

The same exact section (albeit on the opposite side, meaning directly in front of Danny/Justin) was my own personal dream come true when I saw Tool last, perfect view of everything plus it's loud as hell in a good way.

In the end, who cares? It's motherfucking Tool.

More tickets have become available on Ticketmaster.

I was able to reserve a single ticket in Floor Section 2, row 27. This is in the front center section.

Also, I was able to reserve sets of two, four and six tickets in sections 202 and 224. These are basically the worst viewing sections in the venue.

I did not purchase any of these tickets because I already have some. I was just doing this out of curiousity.

My guess is that the venue was able to make more areas available based on Tool's stage setup.

Anyone know how to get from Philly to Reading via public transportation? I tried going on greyhound's site, they gave me nothing. Finally got some info from calling the 1800 # , but the last bus to leave Reading is around 4pm, when the bus from Philly to Reading gets there at 4:20pm (killer time). This makes no sense to me, and I don't want to be stuck in Reading until 6am, which is the time the buses start running again. 10 hour lapse in between? Something doesn't seem right? Yeah, I've been to a lot of boxing fights there and its actually an old looking venue. It isn't a full complete arena as its missing seats on one end where there is a huge wall placed. I'm not too sure how the acoustics would be in the venue though.

Going by the last 4 shows or so, I'd say we're not going to get both. I haven't really figured out if there's a pattern to why they do or do not play those songs to close the show. It's definitely not because of Danny's injury (TOOL would not be touring at all if that were the case). I also know most venues require concerts to be over by 11, but TOOL has pretty much been going by the 2 hour format the entire tour, whether they add on the last 1 or 2 songs or not. I've posted this before, but it seems to me that TOOL has decided to jam more on stage and extend most of the songs. I guess they feel like if that means they have to sacrifice one song or another, so be it. TOOL is such a frustrating band to follow, because there never really seems like there is a method to what they do. I guess that's why a lot of us are drawn to them.

That makes no sense though. I saw them at the New York City Center (2006) and Continental Airlines Arena (2006), and they played Vicarious and closed out with Aenema. They even played Wings for Marie/10,000 Days and Lateralus. Rosetta Stoned was the opener and Jambi was part of the set list too. The show lasted approx. 2 hours. I don't understand why they can't play all these songs.

Exactly.

Likewise it makes no sense to be switching out Pushit and Right In Two. I have only seen Right In Two live once, but they are making us hope for the "classic", while losing a very good new song.

They should be playing RI2 regaurdless if Pushit is in the setlist or not. Doing something like they did with Parabol/a in 2001. Come out to Intension after the break, and go into RI2.

By taking that route, you could end the first set with Pushit/misc old song.

If i had to chose......I hope for Pushit.....but not happy about possibly losing RI2.

Yea, it can be frustrating if you go into a show hoping for A and getting B (or not getting A or B at all), but you just gotta take it in stride. You're still getting a two hour concert from an amazing band. It's important to appreciate the show you're at, and not set yourself up for disappointment, because then you leave the show with nothing gained.
Honestly, it can't get any better than seeing my favorite band on a Saturday night in Atlantic City.....unless I put $200 on double 0 and spun a winner. Hm...

I wouldn't say that the setlist concerns me. We know what we are getting with this band these days.

Their tendancies concern me. Aside from the stunning visual production, this show is bare bones. No surprises. Same ol' same ol'.

However, aside from the Roger Waters show i am seeing in Philly next weekend....their isn't any other (non family related) event i would rather be at.

Wait.....maybe another Eagles superbowl.

....hmmmmm......

Glockness_Monster
05-25-2007, 09:09 PM
yes to an eagles super bowl, only a victory this time

and just to clear things up, the only song i'm really not looking forward to is schism, i feel it's really unnecessary, and there isn't a justification for playing that song over any other---hoping for pushit, can't wait for the show

Just 2 more weeks until the show! I hope we get Pushit but I'll be very happy regardless of what they play.
P.S.
McNabb is going to choke or get injured again this year and you'll see Kolb starting by week 8.

Just mad because they are stuck with Eli at the helm.

me and my friend are stoked to finally go to what could possibly be the best concert of our lives, but two questions:

1.) On the tickets, does the 8 pm refer to when the doors open or when the actual concert begins?
2.) Does anybody have any tips/advice/wisdom on how to reach Atlantic City from northern New Jersey (Boonton)? Since we're two 17 year old dudes we only have provisional licenses, and it would take about 2.5-3 hours to drive, so we can't be out past 12 and i doubt we'd exactly be in the best condition to evade any trouble right after 2 hours of tool. So does anybody have any suggestions on whether to take certain trains/buses/whatever?

I've seen at least one kinda crappy track on the boardwalk itself (around the area of the Caesars casino.)

It's seems more like a kids track rather than a full-fledged go-kart place.

good to do in AC?? oh wait, prom = possibly not legal gambling age, so i have no idea--hit the beach maybe?

AS FOR THE VENUE---the pictures they have on the Boardwalk Hall site have chairs set up on the floor and my tix indicates a row and seat, so i'm assuming that there are fixed seats to the floor?? if anyone can clarify this, that would be appreciated because i'm in no mood to fight moshers off all concert long

Most likely will be seats with a small GA section (about 10 rows worth I'd like to guess).

There is absolutely no GA section at all of any size for this show. Seats cover the entire floor and security will make sure that no one tries to "move up" or stand in aisles. I hope they don't ruin the concert with stuff like that but Boardwalk Hall security is rather tight.

I'm in Sec. 204 for Boardwalk Hall and it is a damn good look at the stage from there, so Psyched for this show! I have a feeling we are going to get an A+ TOOL performance in AC. Just praying for this to be a Pushit night, my very favorite song from them. Also would be cool if they swapped out Stinkfist and Schism for Eulogy/H and The Grudge., but I know thats asking too much. Either way we are going to be floored next week, I feel it.

For those who are hoping for Pushit but in any case get Right in Two... don't worry, Right in Two f'ing rocks live.
