i honstely believe that this is maynard's crticism of the church. the first verse is from the point of view of the person in dire need of help and the second verse is from the point of view of a cleargy man or someone high up in a religion. listen to it again and ull see. plus the whole idea of sober could possibly relate to the whole idea of karl marx's opiate for the masses quote. or it could possibly be about someone putting their faith in someone else and that person just manipulating the situation to their advantage.

no, not necessarily.. ive been to several, most of which were too wyrd for me.. not the religion itself in most occasions, but the people that go to the churches..
