This sounds like it could be the other side of pushit. Pushit is about a relationship gone awry and he feels as though he has to accept it cause he loves her and the fighting will continue (or thats how I see it as).
Well...this is about communication. in this circumstance it can be a relationship. "I know the pieces fit cause I watched them fall away" is he saw the relationship falling apart. The talk of second guessing...it all sounds similar to the themes of pushit.
Cept here the answer is communication. He learned the answer to the problem that pushit placed at hand.
