It took so long to remember just what happened.
I was so young and vestal then,
you know it hurt me,
but I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive
even if signs seem to tell me otherwise.
I've got my hands bound,
my head down, my eyes closed,
and my throat wide open.

Do unto others what has been done to me,
Do unto others what has been done to you.

I'm treading water,
I need to sleep a while.
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious.
Won't you come a bit closer,
close enough so I can smell you.
I need you to feel this,
I can't stand to burn too long.
Release in this sodomy.
For one sweet moment I am whole.

Do unto me now what has been done to me,
Do unto me now what has been done.

You're breathing so I guess you're still alive
even if signs seem to tell me otherwise.
Won't you come on a bit closer,
close enough so I can smell you.
I need you to feel this.
I need this to make me whole.
Release in this sodomy.
For I am your witness and
blood and flesh can be trusted.(X2)
And only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind.

Got your hands bound, your head down,
your eyes closed.
You look so precious now.

( Show me something
Thought I could make it end
Thought I could wash the stains away
Thought I could break the circle if I
Slipped right into your skin
So sweet was your surrender
We have become one
I have become my terror
And you my precious lamb and martyr.) *

I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
shit, blood, and cum on my hands.

I've come round full circle.
My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon.
You look so precious.(X6)

Okay, so I'm trying to piece together my interpretation of the song. But it's rather difficult to do so when you still have so many questions on what means what.
My first impression of this song that it was about molestation and due to the effects it has on the victim, the victim will pass on "what has been done to them"

But still...so many questions are in the back of my mind.

What is "my lamb and martyr"
I've come round full circle?

There's just some parts of the song I don't understand. And it just throws me off from being able to develop an interpretation.

I might be right about what I first stated, but I might not, I don't know. What I'm wondering is what everyone thinks about the meaning of the song in general, not just parts of the song., because that's all I've found on the forum so far.

Hope to hear some feedback.

And I hope what I said actually makes sense.

Your first impression is my everlasting one, I dont see much more to this song. The individual parts to me are like detailing this situation..

The victim is lamb possibly through some metaphoricle relation to the molester (sheppard\lamb), and a martyr for giving the molester his "release" thus comming round full circle and starting the circle for the victim.

i gather the same, but i beLIEve that, it is something that has happen to the victim, but the full circle is that HE is now doing it to some one else.

"Shit, blood and cum on my hands."

it happened to him, now he is doing it.

Well, TOOL songs, I believe, are made for everyone to see it through several different perspectives.

Maynard said it was about physical abuse in general, but frankly, all of us can see it in different ways.

However, through the most shallow perspective, it does hint at that.

Lots of things are metaphorical, after all.

Most of us probably know that by now. :)

And prison sex was a metaphorical explanation of child abuse.
So, does that stretch out into Prison Sex as well?

It's what we all go through on a spiritual basis every moment of our lives. We are literally raping our very own creativity and divine child inside our own mental prisons and blind to this fact. Notice the shadow has no eyes.

A book that has revealed the mysteries of Tool to me is King, Warrior, Magician, Lover. It ended all mystery that Tool can ever attempt to offer me anymore. I love them even more for it because they gave me the tools I need to break free from my own prison. They have been shepherds of my soul since I was a young boy and I have finally reached my very own rock to stand on as a man. I can't wait to meet em. Don't tell them I think they're closet Christians. LOL
