To me it seems like the 'shut up" part is his conscience to himself, or at least thats how it is for me me trying to stop myself from some thing because i know how it is going to be/end yet plod along,

Why do you need to be with anyone at all? Wouldn't it be better to concentrate on making yourself happy? If you can make your own happiness then other people can make you HAPPIER but they can't make you UNHAPPY
