Maynard written lyrics?

if there is another thread about this i apologize for not seeing it, but how were these lyrics created? i know im probably wrong about this, but it seems like they were taken from a letter someone wrote or something. some of the lyrics just seem so out of place, especially "I can't breathe right now," it just sounds so out of place. anyone have some info???

somebody recently pointed out that a bill hicks sketch really mimicked the lyrics in rosetta stoned, other than that i know the band has claimed it was something that happened to a friend of theirs, then again they said that with sober too, i wouldnt be surprised if they just tell people that because they know what a mad rush fans will be if they find out it was an actual member of the band
