Thats the beauty of TOOL, they give you your own interpretation of their music and lyrics, Maynard said himself that there has to be a story behind the music to keep the kids happy.....but I think this one is a little to far fetched for me to actually believe thats what it's about.....or maybe this particular song was meant to have different meanings and perspectives, which explains why the music changes so much throughout and also notice a lot of familar sounds from their past songs.....but go back to Lost Keys, it's a guy on the hospital bed....I hate to state the obvious but I think all this song is about is a trippy journey in one mans perspective on LSD.

I do find your prenatal referencing interesting. I am reading a book by Stanislav Grof titled: Psychology of the Future. In this book Dr. Grof talks about perinatal or birthing trauma; the processes of dying as an amniotic fluid-breathing fetus, being born as a human, and the severe trauma and suffocation involved; IE "I CAN'T BREATHE, RIGHT NOW!!" For anyone that is familiar with C. G. Jung; Stanislav Grof has written a LOT of good books worth reading.

Your interpretation is a unique spin for me - I don't know if I agree 100% however. Maynard has admitted the protagonist in the song is not him.
