looks like a pretty average lineup apart from Tool so far. ill be going anyways. 115 is steep though :/

I reckon this'll be a pretty good one actually. Tool'll be good, Muse'll be good, Violent Femmes never fail to impress and Peaches will be fun. Besides it's only first lineup, there's normally about triple this come the actual show.

I can't believe they're releasing tickets for all the shows (6 shows) at the same time. What they hell are they thinking.

I think lining up the night before might be a good idea

hope i can get tickets this time,

i never been to BDO before, will tool playing mean that i need to get there much earlier and wait at their stage all day (given the fanatical nature of fans)?

I don't think waiting all day will be possible because (to be fair to the other people) they clear out the D-barrier like 2-3 times in the day. It should be done after each band in my opinion like at Roskilde, but then there's alot of bands and not enough time...also BDO employs a 2-stage system as main stage...

as for tickets being released at the same time...that's what they do EVERY year...it will definitely sell out quicker than previous years (esp. sydney as it always does), but I don't think it will be pandemonium like with the solo shows as they have ticket restrictions...and they never release all the tickets initially anyway. so yeah, stay positive.

They do that every year. BDO usually doesn't sell out in hours. You will be fine buying them online or in person on the day. I can't see this one selling out in hours, given that Muse and Tool already have shows ticketed.

yep. the quicket BDO sellout was like 1 month or something, and that was last year's sydney now...can't understand why though...they had such a shitty lineup! i mean fuckin white stripes?

Any word on the setlist they employ for festivals?

Any word on the setlist they employ for festivals?

Something like the following:

Stinkfist
The Pot
Forty Six & 2
Jambi
Schism
Sober
Lateralus
Vicarious
Aenema

...plus one other song. At Coachella they played The Patient but who knows what they might add? Hopefully Right In Two or Rosetta Stoned in addition to the 9 songs i have predicted/listed above.

You can pretty much expect about 10 songs at a festival, with 11 or 12 at their own show (basically the same set list but ewith Wings/10,000 Days added).

At the moment I have visions of the festival crowd going wild as Stinkfist kicks in as the opening song. I was at the Gold Coast in 2004 when Metallica opened with Blackened. It was a pretty awesome sight...

TOOL
SYDNEY l Wednesday 24 January l Sydney Entertainment Centre

MELBOURNE l Wednesday 31 January l Myer Music Bowl

SOLD OUT!!!!

However be alert not alarmed, we’re expecting to announce more shows in Sydney and Melbourne shortly – stay tuned for details. Don’t buy tickets off scalpers!

And a note to the TOOL faithful in all other corners of Australasia – never fear! Additional TOOL appearances in Auckland, Queensland, Adelaide and Perth are scheduled and will be announced shortly.

I was SO close to spending $200 on a silver ticket! I hope to god this is acurate!

I was SO close to spending $200 on a silver ticket! I hope to god this is acurate!I think the “Additional TOOL appearances” they are referring to there are the Big Day Out shows, not more side shows. I remember reading those exact words allover the internet before the first announcement for the BDO lineup.

BDO sure would be fucking us around if they promise more side shows but actually were talking about their own show, but it does specifically say "we’re expecting to announce more shows in Sydney and Melbourne shortly – stay tuned for details. Don’t buy tickets off scalpers!"

It's such a fucking prick of a position. If Tool plan on doing another show why don't they just anounce something instead of keeping us in the dark? Either way lots of people get screwed over. There's those of us who don't want to risk missing out who blow $250+ on a scalped ticket and there's those of us who beleive BDO when they say more shows are being anounced - if they don't do more shows then those people will have to either miss out or pay much higher prices for scalped tickets, either way one group gets screwed over.

Legal shit, red tape, they cant just say shit left right and center, untill EVERYTHING is organised down to the ticket company's signing the deal to sell the tikets. Anything can happen until everything 100% ready to go that could fuk up entire shows, so they wont say anything until IT IS HAPPENING, not just CONFIRMED, which could mean word of mouth confirmed.

deep_schismic
10-19-2006, 11:55 PM
They also don't want to give the scalpers a chance to make ANOTHER killing! And hopefully they have LEARNED something from the fiasco the 1st time around huh!

10-20-2006, 12:32 AM
Unfortunately I think the whole no ticket limit thing is a quirk of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl - a friend who started working there said that every event they had sold in recent years had no limit. But yes, if there is another show hopefully they will impose one. and if there is another show I think unfortunately it WILL be at the Bowl as both Rod Laver Arena and Vodafone Arena are out.

deep_schismic
10-20-2006, 03:19 AM
Well maybe not cuz the Australian open finishes on the 28th. and roger waters is playin on 1st feb

Gibbon
10-20-2006, 06:16 AM
I don't think the shows being at the bowl is an unfortunate thing at all. For starters, both Vodafone and Rod laver have some of the worst sound going around, and secondly the bowl has the best atmosphere you can imagine.

well if RW is playing there on Feb 1 why couldn't they put Tool there on Jan 31? seems weird. Maybe it takes a while to get the surface removed.

If you got an email invoice and your card was charged you have a ticket. If you are worried I'm sure there is a # to call on the BDO site.

^I ordered my BDO tickets as soon as they went on sale at midnight etc. I received a confirmation email a few hours later and my credit card was charged for the tickets etc.

Today I received my tickets in the mail (registered post). The actual tickets look pretty cool. Anyway, don't worry, your tickets shoul arrive shortly... :)

Apparently people started receiving them in the mail late last week but mine only got here today (Thursday 26/10) so I guess if you have ordered them etc keep an eye out for the mailman or mailwoman...

It's all good - there's still plenty of time :)

Sweet. We're in the seating area, but still Gold (near the front of 24). And the seats are just one away from being dead on with the stage, which is cool because there will probably be a cool light show.
