Listen to 6:12 -> 6:20 of the No Quarter cover. I think this riffs inclusion in Rosetta Stoned is a reference to the alternate NQ lyrics that Tool wrote.

"Lock the door, kill the light
No one's coming home tonight"

The perfect conditions for your first acid trip.

"The sun beats down and don't you know?"

Thus "Sunkissed..."

"They bring news that must get through.
Dying peace in me and you"

This may be a stretch but it could be referring to the doctor in Lost Keys,

Personally I think you're looking to deep into it...

But what do I know.

Ooh, it also appears both songs are 11:11 in length.

And! They're both done by Tool!
What about the alien connection?
We truly are being watched by higher beings.
Ok, ignore this asinine post, I just felt the need.

Personally: "Fuck me
It's gotta be
the Deadhead Chemistry
The blotter got [right] on top of me
Got me seein' E-motherfuckin'-T!"
Because we all know that ET loved those MILFs.

I stand corected.

Honestly, not my favorite, but to me it's memorable.
I love it when he sings in this song, to me his voice is just indescrible, I love it.
But c'mon, E-motherfuckin-T!

Some pretty cool connections.

Maybe reading into it too much, maybe not. We'll probably never know.

Well, the riffs are definately similar...but I think the lyrical connection is a bit of a stretch.

i'm really enjoying how people are willing to search inward and out to find the connections and/or patterns. everything's a "stretch" and possibly random < but i think that's what tool wanted us to take from it all along.

Remember that most of this album has riffs referring to past songs, making us look back on the original and see it in a different light, a la Pushit.

I think they just ran into a creative wall, frankly. They're 40 + years old...most genius, innovative activity occurs in the 20s/30s historically. The music is still INCREDIBLE; they just aren't going to be able to transcend themselves as far as musical revolution is concerned. They came, they conquered, and they're still here...but they're just not going to revolutionize anything beyond themselves...which is plenty ok with me, cause the wave they're still riding is still revolutionary with respect to all that came before them (imagine if 10,000 days came out in '94...)
