Rubb's wrong. The tablas are different.

yea indeed.

well, maybe they'll do it someday, when people less expecting it to be played!
but i think that tool has grown from the song. its past now, so im not that optimistic to hear it again live.

I would still love to hear it played, as long as it's the regular version, not that slow shit. The best version is the one that is on the AEnima, NOT Salival. Pushit on Salival is probably the only song by TOOL I don't like. Conversly, Pushit on Aenima is one of my favorite songs. Maybe the fact that the real version is one of my favorites is the reason I don't like it changed.

I don't know. The only thing I do know is that the slow version of pushit sucks.

No it doesn't. The salival version is fuckin' deep, I liked the way they changed it.

I love how the opening notes to the Salival version can be heard quietly in the middle of the Aenima version. I heard the same notes on the Aenima one, and I was like "damn, why didn't Adam play more of it", and then they used it in the slow version.

I thought that was awesome, cause its such a cool little melody.

I can see how people like the album version better, that's all well and good. But how the hell does the live re-imagining suck? I mean, they nailed it perfectly. Too long? Too much talking at the beginning? Maybe not QUITE as dark, and the beginning is a little catchier as opposed to brooding? Eh...

The play it so much, they probably are saving it for when no one's expecting them to play it.

I hope they don't play the Salival version when I go to see them again. It puts a real downer on the whole concert. It is stripped of too much of it's power when the slow version is played. There's no way that the majority of the audience wants to hear that instead of the album version.

I would totally rather hear the Salival version, I prefer that to the album version.

i love the salivial too, but i've read it has lost meaning to them (maynard), he has moved past the emotion he had when writing the song along with other songs, so they dont play them anymore, yeah it sucks for the fans but we just have to deal with it

they use the same thing to start the crescendo

I hope they don't play either. Even though the Ænima version is better, both versions are far from being my favorite Tool tracks.

I totally agree with there is no spoon. The salival verison is great but the power and emotion is gone.

i got to experience the salival version and it was indeed quite a moving moment in my life at the time. however, i would personally prefer to hear the studio version live this time around which would give more meaning to hearing the salival version only once

They played the Aenima version when they came to Alabama. It was wonderful.

I wanted to hear Flood so much more, though. But I definitely wasn't expecting that, so it didn't bring me down. :)

statistically the salival version appeals usually more to women/gay/ordinary people

the aenima vesion appeals more to male/psycho people

usually.

These sections are similar, but Id hardly say its a direct substitute. That section of Pushit is just a part of the song, and acts as a buildup to the climax, as does the section of Right in Two. So to say they are substituting the songs is to disregard the other 13 minutes of Pushit.

thats a stretch...

Thats like saying Right in Two and Jimmy are the same because they're both played in 11/4.

They seem to be exclusively playing the Aenima version on their 10,000 Days Tour when they pulled it out (at least so far as my bootlegs have revealed), which sucks, because I like the Salival version better. The slow tone and almost Zen-like feel of it fits much more closely with songs like 10,000 Days and Right in Two; I dunno why they would revert back to the more raw sound of the Aenima version.

They don't play Pushit live anymore because it's a fucking ridiculously hard song to sing.
