For some reason, it just sets the mood for Jimmy. Even with out Jimmy it kind of just sums up the entire album, a sweet carnival with 15 amazing rides you just cant stop gettig in line for.

It reminds me of that part in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so it always gets me in a good mood. That makes for a nice contrast when "Jimmy" starts in the middle of it.

My roommate just recently imported a Hammond into our apt.

I've always wanted to be able to play this on the piano/keyboard, but now that I have the oppurtunity I can't find the tabs. Shucks.

I hate it. Just like Message to Harry Manback and Balls of Satan, it is funny the first time you hear it and then it becomes boring. I have nothing against the short interlude's Tool do, I love the ones on Laterlus and 10,000 Days, but I skip every one of them on Aenima except for (-) irons.

I might be able to found how to play the main part, not the whole thing. Just look up the Jimmy guitar tabs and transfer it to piano. (if you Know the notes on guitar). Just pay attention to the bass note (if in power chords). but i'll check the tabs out.

EDIT: ok, here's part of it. D* D D F, D* D D G i couldn't figure the whole thing out because i suck at keyboard.

*The 6th key in front of middle C (excluding the black keys).
The other D is the second key, but i'm sure the piano says the notes.

I used to play a lot of Quake II, when this album came out. You could put a cd of music in, and it would just use the cd for the music and you could listen to whatever track corresponded with that level. Intermission was one of those that was selected for a level often. It got into our heads and it was ironically funny to play a hellish game listening to a circus-like song.

I love intermission. Just flat-out makes me happy. If it starts, I have to finish it.

For some reason this song reminds me of Anton Lavey. Probably because he used to play the organ.

I remember listening to Aenima a few times in my buddies place last summer and everyone would just act how they normally would until intermission kicked in. Then everyone would get a kick out of it and seem more cheerful.

To me it's kind of a pre-cursor of Tool recording two-part songs.

I actually find it pretty depressing (I love it, it's just that it doesn't put in a "happy" mood.)

It's the only part of that album that I dont think to hard about, I sit and listen and it doesnt push me in the deep end like majority of tools songs.

Maybe thats why I feel innocence in it...

creepy....like seeing a clown dance with an evil grin and blood running from the edge of his mouth.....like the clown in the movie 'IT'

tool are masters of the atmosphere

they create magic where others create bad comedy.

Intermission along with (-)ions where the first tool songs i ever heard and i must say that the shear unconventional style made me want to dig deeper into the band. Besides try to listen to intermission with out cracking a little grin upon your face, any attempt will be futile this i assure you.

This was actually one of the first songs by Tool I ever heard...

I love how it goes into "Jimmy," and it really irks me that my mp3 player puts a pause between songs. Urgh...

Far from it. "Intermission" puts me in a very somber mood. Everytime I listen to it, it reminds me of lost innocence and since my inner child is all I got, I find the track to be utterly depressing.

Haha that wasn't meant to be emo, but now that I'm reading my post it does kinda sound that way. I apologize, just trying to be honest because then it makes for good discussion.

I know what you mean. The innocence of it in the song, makes me smile and giggle. Whenever i hear it, i think of the carnival and clowns. ( in a good and harmless way because i have a fear of clowns).

It makes me think of this clown that they had at a Dairy Queen that scared the shit out of me, you had to toss these balls in its mouth...creepy. But I laugh now because it was so silly, so in the end it makes me happy, and really makes Jimmy a suprise, I jump at that transition everytime.

Intermission is fantastic. Not only is it pleasing to listen to, but it does in fact tie into Jimmy. The carnival sounds mentally put you back to that young time in your life ... then here comes a song about childhood and a man trying to reconnect with the inner child that's been locked away as a result of tragedy.

Like most have said this song remind me of clown, but an evil clown, the perfect intro of jimmy and it fits perfectly with the song innocent and creepy at same time.
