When was No Quarter actually recorded? I know they played it live during the undertow era and whatnot and even during the Aenima tour, but when did they actually record the cover? It kinda sounds like it could have been during Aenima like Paul recorded this with the guys before leaving, or Justin came and sometime after completing Aenima they decided to record it...someone help me out...

I read somewhere that the actual studio version of it was originally an Aenima outtake.

..By the drum sound, I'd say also : Ænima outtakes. 1996 ?

That's what I figured...I compared it to a live video of No Quarter I saw on Youtube.com from around 97 I think, and it was alot closer to the studio version due to Justins basslines.

Originally it was recorded for the sound track of Howard Stern's movie. He thought it was too long, and Tool refused to re-record/shorten it so it ended up on Salival.

I thought the story was that Tool refused to use it for his movie because their record company agreed to it without Tools approval? I'm thinking that's the actuall story...but I could be wrong.

Me too, one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes as well. I saw them play it live in 1998 on the Ænima tour. They started the first few cords and it took a minute to register which song it was. It sounded really good.

I would fucking love it if they played this live, but the chance of that is pretty slim I'd imagine.

Haha no shit. IF that's the true story, then when they told them that, tool must've not even said a word, looked at eachother, and just walked out the door (realizing that to suffiently explain why that is pepostrous to those retards, it would take the better part of the next few days).
