when these go on sale i will be online to find out if i have bad luck with TM anymore. if i get good seats, as in middle seats, i will go. but im not settling for shit, especially since that is a haul for me. i live right by camden, its less than 15 minutes away. East Rutherford is basically new york, at least 2 hours i think. what is a better idea for getting tickets? gamble and get them online or go to a ticket master outlet. i know online is random, do they do the same at an outlet?

what do you guys think is the best way to get tix for this show and the one at Nassau Coliseum? Online or phone?? I ALMOST got shafted for City Center, but was able to see them on 5/19 and I don't want to get shafted this time around. What are you all planning on doing?

I think the arena has a policy of not selling concert tickets at the box office on the first day they are released.
Anybody know of any ticketmaster outlets that are near the arena?

Hiya, kids!
Thought you might like to know that tickets for the show at Nassau Coliseum go on sale to the public via ticketmaster on Saturday, August 5th. Ten a.m., as usual.
I sent an e-mail to the arena, and this was their response.

I wonder if the East Rutherford show will have the same date.

You really think its better to go to the ticket master outlet? I'm worried if I go there I will have to wait in line while all these people on ticketmater.com are getting all the good seats 2 secs after they go on sale.

There is an ad in the Village Voice that says tix for Continental Airlines and Nassau Coliseum both go on sale this Saturday, August 5, at 10 am.
It should be up on Ticketmaster by then; probably at the last minute.

I find it funny, but I was on ticketmaster about a half hour ago and saw Tool at Continental Arena tickets on sale Saturday at 10:00AM. Now when I go back they are gone. Just keep that in mind. My mind isn't playing games with me. Saturday at 10:00AM tickets for CAA are on sale ;p

For what it's worth: the seating chart shows the floor as being divided into sections, which to me would indicate assigned seating. It doesn't say anything about pit, or show anything that looks like a pit, but that's just my opinion. And what do I know?

I think there are 2 options for seeting at CCA. The first option is "end stage" with the GA broken up into 9 sections. Sections 1 through 6 will be seeting but you ticket may say GA, they are not. Section 7 through 9 will be true GA with no seats. The second option is "end stage w/ split GA". This option has 2 GA sections. VIP GA is in front of the stage and Back GA is behind that. Both sections have no seats.

08-04-2006, 09:43 AM
Does anybody know what the security is like in this place? Can you take anything into the building? Can you move around a bit in each section once the lights go down or do they pretty much guard the seats?

P-Digi
08-04-2006, 11:21 AM
I was there for System of a Down and they pretty much guard the seats, shine flashlights on your tix, etc. I was with 3 others and we had 2 pairs of different seats, so we had the two people with better seats bring out their stubs a couple of times to get everyone in the same section since there was room. However, I imagine the place is gonna be jammed so there won't be a lot of room to maneuver. The sound was good, and it was definitely loud, and I am looking forward to Tool there tons.

I hate looking on Stubhub.com, and seeing tix for the CAA show ON SALE already, with sections and seats listed, meanwhile they go on sale to US tomorrow. WTF? It's just annoying that scalpers get the best of it, while us true fans get fucked out of seats, and they make loads of loot in the process. I wish you all the best of luck tomorrow in getting tickets!

Section 123 Row 6. I first got floor Section 1 Row K, but I had 2 laptops going, and then my 2nd laptop brought up 123 Row 12, so I figured I would have a closer view from there than the back of the floor, so I searched again on the other laptop and got 6 rows closer luckily. Now all you can get on TM Online is upper level.

so what do you think?? closer with not a great view, or not so close with a great view?....I am not sure which tix I should keep and which ones I should unload.

I am also going to see them at Nassau. My seats at City Center sucked, so I'd like to really get the best experience I can.

My tix at Nassau are either Floor seats (and I'm a tiny girl) or in the 200's on the side- which isn't so bad.

Just not sure what I should really do at this point.

QFirecracker

@dutchbstrd: I believe there is a bus that goes from New York straight to the arena. I'm not sure where you could get on board though. I'll try and find out if I can get hold of my friend who knows. It will be a bitch on the way back though with hundreds of people lining up to take the bus back.

dutchbstrd

True. I'll be attending Fordham University in the fall, so maybe I'll just drive from there, mapquest said its only like 15 miles.

I'm going to the Nassau show too, and I know there is a train I can take from Penn. Station I believe to LI then just like a five minute Taxi ride to the place.

dutchbstrd
08-06-2006, 12:07 PM
Is it fast? Would you recommend it? From the Bronx it is apparently only a 25 minute drive. But then we have to pay for parking at both my college and the venue. The bus tickets were I think $9 round trip..but they might have student discounts or something. And I'm guessing that they have buses after the show because it probably will be like 1130 or 12 or whatever...because on the Port Authority website they said they have special buses after major concerts, so I'm guessing they will have extra buses running all night.

Section 5, Row A, Seats X and X

I'm so thrilled. Phone also won for me too. I've never been to any concert let alone a Tool concert, but I'll be flying all the way down from Alaska for 2 days since I was able to get good tickets for the show.

I'm going to be amped for 2 months leading up to the show and probably 2 months after. ;)

Does anyone know how they set this venue up? How far is Section 5, Row A from the stage? Are the floor seats sort of ramped up from front to back so you dont have to try to look around people to see the stage?

Now...to convince them to come to AK next year... :D

Sec. 4 - Row R - Seat 5

Good seats are definitely easier to get when you're shopping for a single. I got this seat around 11:00AM on Saturday (had to work, so missed the 10:00AM start). I actually kept getting lower level seats (sec. 107, sec. 122, etc.), but I kept hitting the "find new seats" button and the floor magically appeared. I actually even gave up Sec. 8 - Row T, before commiting to this golden seat.

I'll be at the Washington D.C. show too, but not nearly in as good a position. All good though, as I was lucky enough to see them at NY City Center in May (2nd night).

See you all there! :-)

Thats how i understand it. I bought a ticket for section 5 right after they went on sale. An hour later, i found a seat in section 3. As far as I can tell, that's in th back. I honestly don't know WHY 123 are in the back, but that's what it looks like.

You are absolutely correct and I was mistaken. I originally got Sec. 3 - Row O (not Sec. 8). I was remembering the picture of the seating chart, not the numbers. Incidentally, I'm in Sec. 4 - Row T - Seat 5, so I got that wrong too (originally said Row - R). Lol, must've been in a fog yesterday!

I have TWO tickets for the Continental Airlines Arena show. Both tickets are on the floor but not together. I'm looking to trade the section 5 ticket for either the PIT or a really good seat for the Camden, NJ show at the tweeter center! E-mail me ... [email protected]

The tickets are:

Seat location: section 5, row A, seat 14
Total Charge: $74.85 (DEAD CENTER)

and

Seat location: section 2, row Y, seat 16
Total Charge: $74.85

You are absolutely correct and I was mistaken. I originally got Sec. 3 - Row O (not Sec. 8). I was remembering the picture of the seating chart, not the numbers. Incidentally, I'm in Sec. 4 - Row T - Seat 5, so I got that wrong too (originally said Row - R). Lol, must've been in a fog yesterday!

Ahh, good to hear. Was hoping you didn't release tickets that were closer to the front; ending up w/ tickets farther away only because their section numbering system is counter-intuitive.

Ive sat in similar seats for Pearl Jam 2 months ago. Sound quality sucked, basically all I heard was left side of PA all night, making Vedder and McCreedy side almost inaudible. For ex when Ed was making speeches I had a problem making out a single sentence (I didnt really experiece the show properly until I got the bootleg). Even though you might be further away, I think seats directly opposite the stage might be preferable.

the nice thing about Meadowlands is that there is a walkway all around the top of the upper level, so if you want you can walk around during the show and find a better spot(assuming the security people arent douche-bags).

view of the stage was pretty good, upper level in Meadowlands in not as bad as MSG, IMHO.

Tool one day then Iron Maiden the next. its gonna be a fun weekend. im hoping this seat will make up for the lawn seats im gonna use for the camden show. now i just have to figure out how to get to the Meadowlands. i guess the Turnpike is the easiest way. i live right next to Exit 3 so its gonna be a long trip.

Continental Arena, East Rutherford, NJ
Friday October 06, 2006 8:00 pm
Seat location: section 4, row T, seat 5
Total Charge: $76.60

I've decided that I don't want to go all the way out to the Meadowlands by myself. I'm in Manhattan, so I'd have to bus it (tres inconvenient). I'll be seeing them with a crew of good friends the week prior in Washington D.C., so I'm not missing out. Besides, I was one of the lucky folk who saw them at City Center this past Spring, so I'm happy to give a fellow fan a chance at an excellent view.

If you're interested, PM me.

Peace.

NOTE: Since I'm a newb here, I'll be doing a little research on anyone that responds. I'm not looking to make $0.01 of profit on this choice seat, but I'm also not interested in selling to some potential scalper looking for a nice investment opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I'm a full-blooded capitalist... But some things are sacred. ;-)

This will be my first show on this tour, but definitely not the last. This will be my 8th show overall (7 on Lateralus tour alone). My brother and I are flying up from Atlanta Friday morning and staying through the weekend so we can party in NYC.

Our seats:
Sec. 122, Row 2, Seats 4-5

I am thoroughly excited about this show, not to mention our first visit to NYC. I've heard that this venue is the shit. Our seats are elevated just off the floor by two rows, so we should have perfect seats, both acoustically and visually.

If anyone is planning on getting up before the show, let me know. I'm not familiar with the Meadowlands, but I imagine there is a bar of sorts around (inside the venue for sure). Also, if any of you locals can suggest good bars to go to in Greenwich Village (preferably Irish ones...with ladies), let me know. Hit me up with a PM people.

melvintillius- dude you will have a blast, bars to hit up, how about CB-GB's, now they are closing at end of oct. (starting to sound like a broken record with the ever changing closing date), cover charge on a normal night is 10 bucks, also up the block north on the corner of 2nd street there is Phebes, its a pretty good bar, has good food if you want to eat(very good Buffalo Wings), plasma tvs, etc.

Pick up a copy of The Village Voice(which is free) or Time Out New York for listings, or those free papers (Metro or AM New York, they have some good listings). Also, forget about hanging out in the Meadowlands, there is nothing there.
Cheers and have fun.

Yeah, CBGB's is definitely on the to-do list. I figure, I better go before it's gone. Thanks for the great tips. I am so thoroughly stoked about that weekend, that I can't even explain it. I love big cities so much, and NYC is the biggest of them all. There's an infinity to see, so we'll try and limit our sights as best we can. I really just want to see the New York that the locals see.

...but the next day i have to see Porcupine Tree in philly and seeing Tool the night before would make for a kick ass weekend.
Porcupine Tree? No fucking shit! I saw them last September here in Atlanta, and I was absolutely blown away (to be completely cliche). I saw them live only about 2 weeks after I was introduced to them. I bought In Absentia at the show, and it is now one of my top 5 favorite albums. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm going right over to their website to see if they'll be nearby Atlanta.

Cheers,
Devin

UPDATE: Fuck!! Why do PT have to be playing the same night as Tool? If they were doing a late show at the Nokia Theater, I could rush over and see them. With a 9pm ticket time, it seems unlikely. The support act is ProjecKt Six. The Theater's website say 8pm and Ticketmaster says 9pm. This tealls me that Porcupine Tree will go on at 9pm. Is anyone familiar with this venue? Does my assumption seem accurate?

quickest and easiest way is from Port Authority(42nd Street), NJ transit 351 bus to Meadowlands. Round trip is $9, you can buy a ticket from one of the automatic machines or at the NJ Transit window from a teller, the busses will line up either at a gate or more likely in the tunnel between the North and South building. Coming back is easy too, they have the busses line up right in the area where you got dropped off(near gate C I believe).

edit- the trip usually takes about 20-30 minutes.

from Philly you would take Amtrak to Penn Station on 34th Street (under MSG) then walk or take subway up to 42nd street (Port Authority) and take the bus from there. Easier way = you could take Greyhound from Philly to Port Authority and get the Meadowlands event bus (351) right there. Going back to Philly would be a bitch though, I dont know how late the busses/trains run.

George,

I know you've helped me out before. You sure seem to know your way around that madhouse. So, I got another one for ya.

Any ideas on the quickest way to get from Newark-Penn Station to the Meadowlands. I looked on NJ Transit's website, and it looks like the best route is roughly 1hr in transit (that is, if I configured the itinerary correctly). That would be about $5 each (for two of us). The other option is a cab for $35 ($40 w/tip, divided by two). SO, an extra $15 for what seems to be a much easier commute. The other factor, however, is traffic on a Friday evening. Will this make that cab ride much longer? Would we be better off taking NJ Transit? We are staying in the Hilton which is connected to Newark-Penn Station.

Thanks again for your help, dude.

I see that a few tickets are being released though ticketmaster that are very close to the stage. My question is, Would I be able to see and hear the band clearly in Section 112 row 11 or 118 row 6? I have seen these tickets on sale but have hesitated on buying them becasue I saw Tool in Camden last Thursday and would like to get a closer view but do not want to pay big bucks if there is "something" blocking my view. It doesn't say anything about limited view and they are just as expensive as floor seats. Can anybody answer my question based on their prior expeiences at Continental? Thank you

Anybody thinking about going to COSM after the show? Danny and Adam showed up last time they played NYC.

alright as it stands right now i am taking public trans. from clifton, NJ transit # 703, to the show, but i am not sure if i'll be able to make it on time for the last bus. Does anybody know another bus that can probably bring me back home? Also, roughly the time that the show will be over?

I see that a few tickets are being released though ticketmaster that are very close to the stage. My question is, Would I be able to see and hear the band clearly in Section 112 row 11 or 118 row 6? I have seen these tickets on sale but have hesitated on buying them becasue I saw Tool in Camden last Thursday and would like to get a closer view but do not want to pay big bucks if there is "something" blocking my view. It doesn't say anything about limited view and they are just as expensive as floor seats. Can anybody answer my question based on their prior expeiences at Continental? Thank you

Here's the seating chart.

Family works for the medowlands.. this show is not selling all too well. I was able to get my hands on a few pair of good seats for a very drastic discount... its a shame. but i am happy .. i figure that mostly real tool fans will be joining us tomorrow

I know how you feel. I bought 2 tickets online the moment they went on sale. They are located in section 106-row 23, which is near the back of the lower level. It mystifies me that there are tickets still available the day before the show that are as good or better than mine. Currently, on the ticketmaster website, I can buy two tickets in section 112-row 21, which is significantly closer to the stage.

I think they may have recently opened section 112 up. That section is like right next to the stage and is actually facing out away from the stage, and it looks like you would have trouble seeing the screens on the back of the stage. I just searched for 6 tickets at once just to see, and they have six tickets available all in one row in section 112, so they probably just opened up more seats.

Well my friend who told me he was going with me to this show since the tickets went on sale just now bailed on me an hour ago, which sucks some major ass. So, I have 1 ticket for sale. My tickets are Section 123, Row 6, Seats 11 and 12. $70 for the ticket which is what it costs after the fees. Thanks if anyone is interested.

I feel bad for the guys that legitimately wanted to go but can't attend. For the scalpers... THIS AINT THE CITY CENTER! Lets get ready for a good show tonight!

You're better off with 106. Section 112 is off to the side (almost behind) the stage. It's my experience and opinion it's best to see Tool from a distance and off the floor. The music sounds the same and you get a better perspective on the visuals.

as soon as the bus fills up with people it leaves for the arena. same on the way back...

I got section 103, got ticket last week.

For people trying to meet up/unload their tickets the main gate(the one with ticket box office) is the best spot, all the people congregate there. If you are coming by bus it will drop you off by gate C, you will have to walk to the other side of the arena to reach the main gate.

edit- if you dont have a ticket yet you might be able to get tickets for as low as 20 bucks, or even for free from people who cant sell theirs, Ive seen people throw away their extra tickets etc. I feel bad for legitimate people whos buddies bailed on them.

Hey does anyone know if it is possible to buy tickets at the door tonight, ticketmaster is selling really good seats online but i can not use a credit card now so iwill have to pay with cash. I think it would be dumb to go all the way the pay to park then find out they are sold out. Last month this show only had upper level level 4 sale but as its getting closer and closer to show time the tickets that are being released are very good!! Anyone have any history of getting to an arena and not being able to buy tickets at the box office?
