GET IN!!!

Try and get them fast. To my knowledge, there's every chance you'll miss the boat fi you don't jump on them when they become available.

But the lack of official confirmation as yet is keeping me a little skeptical. Dates may be subject to change...

This here is my first post!! An historical mark in time i'm sure.

I signed up here just to express my joy that this news brings me. After the Deftones gig i was almost complete but there was that sickening feeling that i'd missed Tool playing in Donnington, i should've gone but it wouldve been too shaggin expensive. I can't wait for this gig lads. Its goin to be SAVAGE!
Dunno about the venue though, only been there once for Roger Waters a few years back and to be honest i think the place was a bit of a hole!

07-21-2006, 05:14 AM
Yeah, it's no SFX for sure, but it's better than the UK equivalent (which would be Wembley). I saw Joe Cocker there about 12 years ago, and also thought it a bit shit, but seeing as I am not going to be home for Christmas, this ties in perfectly with paying the folks a visit. Let's just hope it's not an all seated affair. Now THAT would suck.

Just got myself two standing tickets for the grand old price of €116.90! HURRAH!!! Now all I have to do is book the flight, make sure my folks don't mind me staying and get unbelievably excited!!! Already got the time off work.

As ktdude said - where we going to be drinking?

I'm not from Dublin so people might have better suggestions but there's an awesome pub called Eamon Doran's in the Temple Bar area which plays alternative music - I loved it there!

4 x tickets in zee bag - w00t.

@ktdude - 'rock/metal' pubs in Dublin - would recommend Bruxelles off Grafton Street. Then Fibbers at a stretch - Whelans of Wexford Street for some good oul rock/indie clubbing ... Dorans if okay but haven't been there in ages. Or for an excellent alternative try the Gaeity - a big ol' theatre with lots of bars and rooms and all sorts of music....

dorans is grand but its a jailbait crowd and the beer is easily the worst in dublin. and it smells of piss.

if you want a bit of rock hit the downstairs part of bruxelles and attempt fibbers later on when youre really wasted

if you want a bit of craic try the traddy bars in templebar - the oliver st john gogarty or the auld dub

and for a quality (read, QUALITY) pint of guinness drop into the long stone or mulligans just off pearse street

Bassmingo
08-11-2006, 08:57 AM
I'm friends with a tribute band, I've yet to approach them but i've got the idea for the gig, i've got the venue (dublin city centre) and it would take place after the gig in the point had finished and it would run late (up to 2 am) I dont want to give much more away but because it takes place on a weeknight i'm wary about nobody staying out too late.

I don't think that's a very good idea. Surely they'll sound terrible in comparison to seeing the real deal on the same night.

I got my tickets a few weeks ago, seating in the best seats in the house, cant wait. Saw them in the Hammersmith Ap[ollo a few months back and it was the greatest night of my life!

ktdude
08-17-2006, 02:18 AM

as regards drinking when you get to dublin, I'd definatly second the long stone, especially if your coming from abroad and have any intention of drinking guinness.

My mate's even coming home from New Zealand for this gig. I haven't seen tool play since ozzfest back in 2001(ish). I'm changing my pants on an hourly basis

I think you guys might luck out and get Mastadon for an opener. They are better than Isis.

Seriously excited now. Getting really close. I've heard that there's loads of security at the other European shows, that people are missing the whole support of Mastodon, so I'm heading into the gig EXTREMELY early just to be sure to get the most out of it.

Does anyone know if there are any events on after the gig? I remember after Weezer played last year there was a big after party in Eamon Dorans and a tribute band played and everything. I'm sure a Tool tribute wouldn't be the first thing on my mind after just seeing Tool themselves, but you never know, it might be cool.

They have to play "Part of Me," that would make my life totally complete.

I love Eamon Doran's! I just want to find a place that plays some decent tunes, anywhere would do...

Hey everyone,

just wondering what will the deal be with pit bands, does anyone know? Will they be given out for those queuing early or only once we're in the door? Is it up to the band? In which case what has been happening at the other gigs? Or is it up to the venue? In which case I assume it'll be inside on a first-in-gets-one basis as is usual in the Point.

Anyone know?

Also, what time are people starting to queue at? I'm thinking about 5pm, will that be too late?

ktdude
11-16-2006, 07:14 AM
there's a pit at the Point? crazy... that sucks imo

you won't need to get there that early Dee, I really don't think so anyway. We won't be going down till about 7:30

JDK

man u wont need to head up to the point that early for pit bands. Stroll up there round se7en - half se7en and you should get em not a bother. Sometimes there is a pit and other times there isnt, lets call it a suprise. i remember quein early for KoRn just for the pit and then we finnally get inside and there aint any! load of piss. (valuable drinkin time gone a miss too) Also Tool fans are a lot older than must idots that que hours on end just to get to the front so dont expect a huge crowd up there till round 8ish. i live just down the quay, from the point, so i familiar enough with it.

acid or no acid..can't decide.most likely the only chance to see them as a headline show, so would like to be sober...but then again on acid it would be quite an experience...choices choices...maybe just a little bit...

Two freiking days.... Its funny but after all of the years of listening to Tool I'm finding it quite difficult to get really enthusiastic about seeing them.I'm not sure why tho, I think its cause Im not surrounded by the normal excitement I had at home.. oh well, it should be class.

I felt that before I saw them this summer... kinda like an anti-climax in reverse. don't worry though, as soon as you're in the venue and the lights go down you'll feel it

Tool are on their way to Dublin as we speak. Perhaps they'll follow a recent trend of metal bands drinking in Bruxelles the night before their gig? Anyone gonna be there?

Either way, I'm totally excited and can't wait to hear Rosetta Stoned

Is the sound in the Point as bad as it's made out to be? I'm just thinking in terms of Mastodon; bands that heavy need good acoustics.
