First of all, I'm currently taking sports medicine 15 in high school and have discovered a few things tool related while taking this course. Your quadriceps are made out of 4 muscles, one of which is the VASTUS LATERALIS, being named that due to it being on the lateral side of your body. By the way, when talking anatomy, lateral means on the outside, or on the farthest right or left extremity, but for now think of it as on the outside. Alot of maynards references such as "seperates the body from the mind" and "push the enveloppe" and "outside the line" have to do with THINKING LATERALLY, or thinking outside the box, or as maynard is often quoted,"think for yourself". Also we talk about muscle ATROPHY alot in sports med, and if you've listened to schism a few times you know what I'm saying.
