It'll be Saturday at 10:00am PST. Always is. I am starting to think they might have an open floor GA for this show too. That would be interesting since I have never seen a show there like that (always seats, even on the main floor). Anyone here ever see GA on the floor at Staple's?

yes, staples center is whored out by ticketmaster. sometimes shows dont appear till a day or two prior to the onsale date. its only tuesday. relax. its the staples center.
how are the acoustic's at that place, anyways? maybe a good sound will make up for it being such a disgustingly huge venue.

They're not great. The place was clearly intended for sporting events. You will find a lot of high end gets lost before it even gets to you and certain lower bass frequencies will rumble your guts loose.

The good news is the line of sight is pretty good almost anywhere in the arena. It's a recently built place so it's clean. It has an excellent beer selection and access to most seats (except the inner seats in the 200 section) is very good.

I'm pretty sure Bakersfield had a similar situation, tickets being announced within 2 or 3 days of going on sale. I'm just glad i have money this time and buying tickets won't make me broke.

I have found that pre-sale is hit and miss as far as quality of seats. They block out a section of seats for the pre-sale but sometimes better seats are available during the regular sale. I guess I will try pre-sale though and see what I can come up with.

Section 108
Row 8

I had section 101 row 3 before and then a bunch of bullshit happened and I ran out of time. When I tried again, I got a ticket in section 320. Wanting so badly to go, I bought them. Then just for the fuck of it I searched again and found a ticket in section 108.

So now I have 2 tickets in two different sections. Is anyone here interested in one of them? It's Section 320 Row 5 Seat 17. If anyone wants it for face value, send me a PM.

This is ridicolous. 2 in 316 for me. Luckily i'm on the floor for the bakersfield show. To the people who got on the floor in LA, are you affiliated with KROQ in any way? Something is definetely wrong here. There is no way the staples center could sell out in less than 5 seconds. I guess there will be more for the public onsale, but I bet KROQ already has half the tickets

The presale started at 10. I was right there on ticketmaster, didn't realize I would need a password, so I bought one off of ebay for 99 cents. At about 10:16, I searched for 2 floor tickets...nothing. I searched for 1 floor ticket...nothing. I searched for 1 floor ticket in the best available seat.. and what comes up? A seat all the way up in the fucking rafters.

I go look on ebay, and well well well....pair of floor Tool tickets, buy them now for $500! A pair of tickets way up in the fucking rafters...buy them now for $300! More and more are popping up every minute. Now at 10:41, I search for 1 ticket, best available...it's one directly behind the stage. Search ebay again...39 results.

There's got to be a better way.

I figured i'm already seeing them with a good enoguh spot in Bakersfield. So i just sucked it up and went Section 307, Row 1, Searts 8-10. I've heard a lot of people say Staples Center doesn't really have bad spots. I mean yeah there's closer and further, but even Upper Concourse gets you a good view most of the time. So i just said whatever, i'll be right near the stage for Bakersfield.

had no luck searching for more then one ticket at a time and the first time I searched for a single ticket I got one in the 300s and passed, ended up getting floor 2 row 6 and bought it and then tried looking for one more and got another on the floor.

Don't know if getting a camera in will work, but my buddy and I both hold season tickets to the LA Kings and one time we decided not to take out our keys and cell phones out on the way through the detectors just to see what would happen. We waltzed right in without anything going off and have been doing it ever since (although I think I still occasionally throw out the keys out of habit).

Does anyone else feel like they have had a bag on their head? I feel like I'm trying to register for college classes, trying to work out my work schedule to go to a Thursday concert....but then someone up top decided..."what the fuck, might as well play a Friday show too." I bought Thursday tickets, and feel very let down that I could have gone to the Friday show, not missed school, not missed work AND sit a lot fucking closer. But now I don't have the money, time or resources. Thanks to all and a great big go fuck yourself to whoever decided to play the second show. I'm doing both LA, I'm considering doing Street Scene, and if anyone can tell me how to go about getting tickets for the Vegas show I'll probably do that too, in which case we'd be tied in our fantaticism.

Although, given the nature of Vegas, I'll end up either a little richer than you or a whole lot poorer (smart money's on the latter).

Even though I called it on them adding the second show, I had no idea they were going to put them on sale so quick. I thought they'd wait a day or two. I counldnt get tickets for the 1st Vegas show in that disaster, now I end up with all these tickets for Staples Center. I have great seats for thurs and fri and an extra pair in nose bleeds for thurs. I am disapointed though because I got tickets in the KROQ presale just in case we had another sell out in 1 second situation. Then I get up this morn and find better tickets for thurs, buy them...then Friday opens up out of the blue...and I'm like damn...I'll check it out, and end up with even better seats then thurs. This no cancellation shit with Ticketmaster is BS with the crap they pull. All my tickets are in sets of three. Now I have to figure out if I want to go to both shows or just Fri. and get rid of the nose bleeds for thurs.

You have a point and I'm sure you weren't the only one who missed out (I almost did too). But there is an upside- fuckin' scalpers and ticket brokers didn't have the head's up either on that second show. So when it went on sale immediately like it did, it gave us schmos sitting at home a fair chance at some good seats.

And it worked too. I tried 50 friggin times starting right at 10am to get on the floor for the Thursday show (I needed 3 seats) but could not get them. But for the second show? Floor seats no problem.

tool is quite popular...maybe not enough to sell out an arena two nights in a row in the middle of a tour, but if it was just a single show or just those 2 shows, you can be sure they would've sold out instantly.

Yeah, nowhere near, say, U2 (a band that I don't enjoy). They sold out both nights in the middle of a tour at Staples Center. But they are certainly more popular than Slayer (a band I greatly enjoy). I seriously doubt they can sell half the tickets Tool has already sold by themselves, and an opening band to be fair.

Pretty sure they are seats although someone earlier in the thread seemed to think otherwise. Some venues are GA on the floor (no seats) but it looks like Staple's will not be that way for Tool. I did notice that U2's stage setup at Staple's was GA on the floor. It was, however, listed that way

I am also dying to find out if the new set is done or if we are going to see the same 4 screens for the next 2.5 years.

i can't wait for wings/days to be played live. i'm seeing them on saturday, but i doubt they'll do it at a festival like that. the arena shows will be the real show. 2.5 hours of tool.

I broke down and bought a couple floor tickets on ebay, and only ended up paying about 4 dollars more than ticketmaster wanted. I don't know what I'll do about parking, though.

We should have a tdn meet-up.

Definition of a best friend: The friend who sent me a plane ticket to L.A. for my birthday, 9/8, to see Tool both nights.

He bought tickets for both nights too. I'm going to catch him back for the second night though. How cool is that?

If there's a meet-up, post the time and place.

Thanks Cid. The show I was at was on the warm up tour and it was lass then 4,000 seats. Pretty much everyone was a big fan and busted their ass to get a seat. Even though I was rolling hard I could tell they were "well behaved." Meaning not throwing themselves around like a Korn concert. Since you have been to larger shows with Tool does that stay the same or are there a lot more idiots? My dad obviously wouldn't mind weed being smoked and people rockin out but I mean I don't wanna ruin a great experience by having a lot of drunk ass idiots flying into him. Is it a lot worse at big shows?

if the floor is open, yes, it's a lot worse. there will be the drunken idiots that just want to push into people. if there are seats on the floor, which i believe is the case, you'll have a much more enjoyable time if you're there for the music. the best tool shows i've been to have been all seats. the ones where the floor is open i just stand far back so i can still enjoy it, but it's just got a different vibe i guess.

I think there is definitely some golden formula for the ratio of tool attendees. I think they can be categorized into a few BROAD categories:
1- People there to see the band. They love the band, the music, the lyrics, you have frequent late night sessions talking about tool over beers and bongloads.
2- People there to be angry and rock out. These people are still listening to undertow because it jives with what they like: angry moshing.
3- People there to rock out hard but also love the band. A mix between groups 1 and 2.
4- People who are seeing tool for the first time. It is a mindblowing experience and they often just stand there, mouths open. Careful to not slip in the drool puddle.
So and so forth.....
My point being is that there is some ratio of people who are angry moshers compared to the rest of the people there. I would say that almost everyone will be rocking out but very few will do it in a way that will ruin it for others. You are safe friend. You are among friends.

i remember when i went to see them at long beach, i was standing a few feet away from the stage, right in front of adam. to the right of me there was a pit going on, but what was cool is i pretty much got to ignore it and not even worry about it as the number of respectable tool fans outnumbered the drunken idiots.

Selling two separate tix for the Thursday nite show, or a trade for equally value (or im willing to negotiate these tix for just one) tix on Friday.

1-Sec 319 Row 11 Seat 11-(TixMas cost=$59.30, my price $50 even)

2-Sec 316 Row 2 Seat 2-(same as above)

Again, I have a separate tix for my self already for the Thursday nite show, and Im desperately looking for one tix on Friday nite!!! I already have the tix in hand, just got them on July 31. Hit me up by email only, at [email protected]. Lates.

I'm going to both shows. If I have to hear seven singles on both nights it's really gonna suck. And, if I don't hear 10,000 days it's really gonna blow.

Which is it: Is it too hard for them to memorize different songs, or do they really think TOOL fan love hearing the singles over and over again?

something tells me that they'll play 10,000 days :)

i had the same feeling the last time i saw them, i wanted to hear third eye, and they ended up playing it.

even though i know they won't play them, i'd love to see disposition, reflection, and triad live again.

I don't think it has to do with either. I'm sure time constraints are a determining factor. Also, synching certain videos w/particular songs. I expect the setlists for the arena tour to be heavy on material from the new album, similar to the Lateralus tour. Jambi, The Pot, and Vicarious seem like the live staples from 10,000 Days. One would think that they'll roll out Wings 1&2 pretty consistently and then rotate in Right in Two and Rosetta Stoned.

everyone's hoping the setlist will be different than the warm up tour. wait til the 22nd when they start touring with isis and that setlist should be pretty close to what we'll get in LA.

I tried to get tickets for the Seattle show back in May but didn't, figured I would wait for the arena shows. I'm thinking the LA shows will kick ass since it's their home town but who knows... I'm just stoked to see them. I traveled to Portland and Vancouver BC back in 01 to see them, then they came to Anchorage in the fall 02' which I never thought they would do. All three shows rocked! This is going to be my 2nd Tool show, my first is 2 days before in Bakersfield, REALLY hoping the list changes since the shows are so close together in date and location that they'll likely have a lot of the same fans going to both shows, but if they don't i havea feeling i won't e to upset about the same set list, i mean hell, Tool twice in a week.

We're driving up to San Francisco on the 1st and driving down the night of the 4th (my birthday!) to get in line early as hell so we can get good spots. Come home, sleep wednesday, see Tool at Staples on Thursday...this is going to be freakin' amazing.

well, if we're lucky maybe they've been hammering away at it trying to get it ready for the home town show (though i don't expect them to put in that much work, it seems like it's asking a lot of them to have it prepared and ready by the 7th when they're still having difficulty with it, what with its complexity and all). yea, it means that they know there are a lot more people in the LA area that want to see them than in other, not so large cities. so they play 2 shows so more people have the chance.

Both shows are still not sold out. Damn, for a second (when they added a second night) I thought TOOL had become this hugely popular band - I guess not, which is actually pretty cool. I tend to lose interest in bands when they become massively popular.

The show isnt sold out because no one wants to sit behind the stage. At Oakland: Some friends that came to the show day-of without tickets and got $50 from scalpers while we paid $70 from ticketmaster were laughing at us because they got in for $20 less. But when they found out where their seats were they had nothing but frowns. If they would stop selling the part of the arena that is adjacent/behind the stage it would be sold out. Just nobody wants to sit there.

If there are tickets that are not behind the stage but up in the rafters I would jump on them as the new stage setup will favor your position over the sweaty dudes crushing you on the floor. trust me.

not a bad idea unfortunately Tool doesnt mix their setlist up at all so youll more than likely hear the exact same songs in the same order on both nights.

Radiohead on tour this yr had the right idea it was a different show every time they played

Radiohead..shmaydiohead. If you cant tell the differences from one show to another just because the setlist is the same well then too bad for you. I was just at Oakland and Marysville. The only obvious difference was Right In Two for Opiate. But in reality they were totally different shows with different jams, interludes, vibes, and additions to each song. Granted 2002 tour might be a high water mark for you as it was for me. 11.23 was a religous experience. But I have embraced the fact that Tool has evolved and I am liking the new setup/sound more and more everyday. Look back to the 2001 tour after Lateralus and see if it compares to the 2002 tour. It doesnt. I would expect more in 2007 and embrace everything I can get now. I get shivers everytime I see the "interlude" because it really has this feel from the guys that "hey this is fucking awesome. Is it going to get any better than this? probably not, so we should enjoy it because we arent going to be around for much longer" type of vibe and to be honest it scares me. So when I see people bitching about the new album, the new stage production, or the setlists. I think, "man you dont even know how good you have it and when they are suddenly gone you're gonna be crying that you wished you had embraced them for more when they were around".......that kind of thinking is disappointing at best....
