72. Lateralis - Danny Carey (Tool)
WTF? "i"?

The first copies of the Lateralus album mentioned track 9. as Lateralis instead of Lateralus.

I don't understand how Danny's performance on Reflection and Aenima are both ranked above his performance on The Grudge. I think The Grudge outshines them both by a longshot (although the long double bass roll in Aenima is sweet).

Obviously this list was made before 10,000 days. If it was contemporary there would be even more mentions. I am glad to see that Mike Portnoy's BRILLIANCE is also recognised.

47. Lateralus - Tool (Maynard James Keenan) af best lyrical album production

WTF!

underrated

EDIT: well i have to stay to the subject.
i agree that Dannys work on T&L is one of his best performances and i dont agree bout the ranking of the other tool tracks. they should be up in front. I expect Rosetta stoned and right in two in the top 50 in the future.

I have heard some in this opininion section claim that t and l is tool's worst tune. I have been back-hand biznatch slapped by this number not enough and if you want to hear tool's worst track I will find you and pull out something wrongfully stank!

carey is amazing, but T&L doesn't hold up to Reflection, Lateralus, The Patient, or Triad, imo, or any of the material on 10kd (except for the pot and intension)..

this website doesnt draw from a very diverse group of artisits, they mostly use the same guys over and over again, but i still think that ticks and leeches is one of the best drum performances ever

hmmmm, all the shit Dream Theater songs are high on the list. Erotomania certainly isn't Portnoy's best performance.

While that site is very reasonable in general, I think that Portnoy drums better on Metropolis and 6:00 than Erotomania, as well.

Still, this is Carey's defining moment behind the set. I'm always blown away by how he can drum that fast and hard for so long!

Yeah. They put "H." and "Third Eye" (live) on their best guitar solos lists. He's also the 85 (or something like that) best guitarist of all-time on the site. It's pretty accurate at placing musicians and their bands where they stand in history.

Aesthetically, I think it's the worst on Lateralus.

why is TOAD by cream ranked #2?
i hate that drum solo. ginger baker was a jazz drummer. Did any of you see the new cream concert DVD? the songs all sound weaker than the originals

It's amazing for its time.

Of course no one (with the exception of Neil Peart and Bill Bruford) could drum like Danny can today.

They have to be reasonable in their selections, kind of taking into context their abilities for their time period. It's tough to make a "definitive list" like that.
