View Full Version : What color...

Yondo
06-27-2006, 01:24 PM
When I played music, I sometimes think of colors.

I've also noted relations between Rosetta Stoned and Third Eye.
The only difference it, Rosetta Stoned, to me, is Red, and Third Eye is blue.

I know this is silly... but what color do YOU think of when you listen to Rosetta Stoned?

I dont get this post.

Sorry to hear that.

everything goes together, in my opinion. Touch to smell, sight to sound, smell to taste, sound to touch. Its all connected. If your brain gives you your own personal vision, or feeling, or something... and if you can relate it to a color, what color is it. Rosetta is definately Red for me. Jambi = green, 10000 days = black to white, intension = dark shimmery blue, viginti = BRIGHT orange.

its a personal question really.

peace

EDIT><<<isnt the color gray spelled... Gray? like, not alex grey but the color gray? just wondering.. never really looked at the crayon myself.

could be an international thing huh?>>>

Third Eye however, is usually a deep blue.

Grey...glad you brought this up cause I see all songs in color.
Third Eye: Dark Blue
10,000 Days is green
Jambi is Mostly Red, but sometimes Blue...
I see most tool songs in either Blue, Green or Grey.

Third eye is blue because "blue" is in the song.

Rosetta Stoned is actually VIOLET, sorry.

I always see colors...
vicarious...white.
rosetta stoned...green.
thirdeye ...light green.
Jambi...light brown.
schism...black..
parabola..all colours..
ticks and leeches..white.
lateralus...purple.
the pot...green with white.
and so on..
i was gonna start a thread on this actually...but thought it was kinda silly.

I thought so too... I'm glad so many of us are as visual listeners as I.

Red seems to be predominant. I can kinda imagine Purple... but I see that in Lateralus.

Exactly how you should put it. I was afraid, when posting, that by saying the colors I saw, I might influence what you guys put. I see that did not happen, which is awesome.

I wonder if this means anything...

I voted before reading anything, and I'm not very surprised to see that red is the predominant color. Rosetta Stoned is a very aggresive song.

Im gonna go with red as well for Rosetta Stoned
Lateralus is a unique one though, during the song i usually go through a sequence of colors, due to the lyrics and sequence of syllables
sometimes i see it just as the lyrics describe -black n white, then some red and yellow- but later on it turns into a mesh of colors with a bright white in the center......i dont know why.

third eye is black and blue

Incredibly, I thought I was the only person this ever happened to. Most music I listen to becomes associated with a color in my head.
And I voted Red. LK/RS is blood-red in my mind.

Terry21
07-04-2006, 09:48 AM
ColdLogic, I even associate music to sort of "buildings" or places in my head, not visually, it's strange, I don't see these things, I just feel them when I hear the music. Like my mind needs something it doesn't have when there's just audio. Sometimes these feelings change and I look at the music from a different perspective. Saddly, this erased some personal feelings on some other band's songs and made me look at it like everybody seems to look at the songs.

Yeah I know I'm crazy, lol.

everytime i hear Rosetta stoned and the lyrics hit "then a flaming stealth banana split the sky ect." I imagine the person from the song looking to the sky. suddently a huge gash of white light split the sky open, and everything around the person turns to red.

i could be awesome to do a animated video for the whole lost keys/rosetta stoned. it would be a awesome story.

the song, for me of course, starts off in black, fades to bluish greenish, then to redish blackish at the end segments...

uhhmm IMO you guys are fucking crazy...Colors with Sound?

I mean yeah when i hear Tool songs I See visual things, almost like scenes out of a movie. but its like when you read a book. But ive never actually seen a straight color....yikes...

There is a condition called...right so i don't know the name of it....but people associate colors with music. It's supposed to be rare. I think Mozart had it...or maybe Beethoven. Wait no Beethoven was deaf...

BTW...Rosseta Stoned is definietly a Red song.

a very small percentage of people hear music in colors so i don't know why there'd be a poll about it.

Right, most people don't HEAR colors in music, but many many people associate colors with music. Some people here say they "see" colors with certain songs. Is that really the case, or are y'all saying "see" when you really mean "associate" or maybe "visualize" in your head??

For me, I've never really gotten any colors to this new album. Aenima is a different story though for me.

Stinkfist=bluish purple
Eulogy= Dark Blue
H= Orange
46&2, Jimmy and Pushit= Green
HWa/P= Metallic and Red
Aenema= Dark Dark Blue
Third Eye= Greyish,Whitish, Metallic/Silver

most of the other albums don't really resonnate wiht me in that way, maybe that's why Aenima is my favorite album

some other songs though

Schism- Dark Dark Red
Parabol- A very light Purple, lavender maybe
Parabola and Lateralus- many different colors

Black isn't a color, it's a lack of color! :P
