23, synchronicity, Maynard, religion, and Judith.

Pardon me if I am rehashing something already mentioned.

23 figures prominently in the numerological study of synchronicities or rather "coincidental" occurences. Viginti tres, wings for mary, and 10,000 days seem to play as one cohesive song. It seems to me that the title for viginti tres is as cohesive in meaning with wings and 10,000 days as the song is audibly. 23 symbolizes that everything is in some way connected and that coincidental occurences aren't in fact unconnected. Maynards mother Judith was left physically impaired by an "accident", this accident seems to have provided the catalyst for maynards despising of a god who would do this to his mother and of the "christians" who were about as a christ like as a piece of toast. Despite the accident Judith exhibited faith in and love towards God and despite her sons views on God, which were the antithesis of hers, and which undoubtedly led to much idle gossip among the so called flock, she remained in and exhibited much love for her son. Ultimately her faith in God and love for maynard showed him what a true christian was. So was the "accident" a "accident"? or was it a "God concieved" plan, one that she ultimately believed in?


Anyway those are some of my thoughts on those 3 songs, and this really is a tremendous album.

23 is used because it supposedly repeats itself in everyday occurences and whereas we see it as just a coincidence it is actually evidence of a greater pattern of things.

According to the I-Ching, 23 means "Split apart"... How relevant.

And evidently there is some sort of "23 Enigma" I read about in Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson, although I haven't experienced any significant synchronicities or even coincidences with the number.

Also, in the movie "The Number 23", they fucked up the Mayan Calender end date TWICE in the movie with two different dates! And they referred to it as "The date the Mayans believed would be the end of the world". Way to fuck your credibility right off the bat. Still a pretty good movie though.
