I have to agree that as the weeks have gone by and I finally had a chance to get a good sense of the album, I must say that "Wings/10,000 Days" is one of, if not the greatest song of emotion they have ever done.
The thing is though, at what cost do we get these rare shows of emotion? After all, many of Tools most heartfelt tracks are often written as very personal reflections by Maynard to us all. I often feel sorry for Maynard with songs like "H", "Prison Sex", and more recently "10,000 Days" where he has to feed off of the hurt in himself.
Saying that though, I do love the end of "10,000 Days" and see it as Maynard reaching a point of acceptance for his mothers passing.
