ya know I was going to argue with you just because I'm a dick, but this thread gave me an excuse to crank my favorite song on this CD - had you been wrong all my pissed off neighbors would have been dispatched your way - and I have to admit...

Yeah...you win a cookie.

However i wouldn't call it crushing....I would call it vicious. It has an animal attacking with claws feel to it....

That is one of my favorite riffs, too. But I don't think it sounds like Metallica at all. I always hear Sevendust, the second-tightest rhythm section in hard rock if you ask me.

That definitely sounds like Metallica. That riff didn't do anything for me (but it didn't turn me off either).

I don't necessarily agree that it is the only crushing riff on 10,000 Days, but it certainly is the most.

Ther are tons of crushing riffs in 10KD, but i like the crescendo of blistering guitar from Rosetta Stoned (in video is when the gyroscopic needle comes down.and sticks the guy in the eye....0uch scares the crappp outta me :>) sheeeit

my fav riff is John Mclaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra ( Inner Mounting Flame.)
