Wouldn't it have been cool to have a few seconds (5-10) of some kind of odd noise at the begining of Vicarious.
With the exception of Salival, (which still has a *think for yourself* intro) every single Tool CD's first track has had some kind of noise before the first song.
I was dissapointed to hear Vicarious did not.

now that you mention it your right.. kinda odd.. i didnt even notice but something felt different when you hit play and its off and running.. no build up like previous cd's
Well the music at the start is really intrueging too...it circles around in diffirent patterns and the tension builds nicely till the song hits.

I think it fit quite well as is it, but sure, that would've worked too.

I think the swirling intro kind of serves that purpose.

I wouldn't count the beginning of Stinkfist as noise....it's just an intro, but it's definitely different in scope than Intolerance and The Grudge.
Having said that, I think the opening of Vicarious is pretty sweet and doesn't really need any kind of Grudge-esque intro.

Yeah, the intro to Vicarious is great, stands alone IMO.
